He was being generous. Rose’s career high for the longest was 42, he wasn’t just dropping 40’s on Indiana. I think he had one game with 40 but that’s it. Rose was special though, he had the ability to impact a game with 25 like he scored 40. Plus back then dropping 40 was actually an accomplishment

Potentially but he would’ve had to absolutely dominate the league, but I don’t see that happening with bron and golden state pretty much running the show from 2014-2019, if he stays healthy he probably has a career very similar to russ, great stats but no real accomplishments to back up his game, probably gets a few all nba honors after that but I doubt top 5 pgs all time.

DRose had speed, power and what truly sets him apart was his finesse. I never seen anyone go so hard so fast and yet put that layup so gentle off the glass. It was mind boggling and a joy to have witnessed his skills with the basketball.

@@bojanpejovic7691 John Wall, Westbrook and Lebron are all up there. Pretty sure at one point Wall was the fastest baseline to baseline with the ball. Rose was just able to change pace and directions unlike anyone else + had insane touch around the rim for how fast he was moving. He was not only one of the fastest players ever but also one of the most in control of that speed.

There's been plenty what-ifs in NBA history, but DRose might be the biggest one of em all. The man was just starting to really figure it out and he already managed to bag an MVP trophy & led his squad to the conference finals. That's what a lot of people fail to acknowledge. Yeah, Ja has comparable, if not a better vertical, but Derrick had far better end to end speed, power, acceleration and body control/change of direction. Plus he was about 20 pounds heavier.
