I have skipped breakfast all my life mostly because i was never hungry in the morning. I had a period of 3 months where i forced myself to eat breakfast (mostly oatmeal with some fruit) and i just felt worse, more bloated during the day had less focus at work, had more of an energy crush during midday and eventually just went back to skipping breakfast. Im very fit and i dont drink coffee and after i went back to skipping breakfast my energy levels went back to very stable throughout the day im almost never tired even after a long day and a gym session. Skipping a meal works for losing weight. But you can skip any meal. For many skipping breakfast is the easiest because it takes more willpower to skip the evening meal, as people tend to feel more hungry then. From a dieting perspective skipping breakfast isn’t great though as you need energy through the day, not when you sleep. So eating breakfast is good in that sense, that’s when we need food.

I have been intermittent fasting for years (mostly consistent for 10 years now). I hit my goal weight years ago but got accustomed to the morning fast. However, I noticed I lost muscle mass because I couldn't intake the protein needed (which for me was 170g) within the eating window. Since then I have started eating breakfast after my workouts which is usually greek yogurt and a protein smoothie, some days bacon and eggs or similar, and noticed my muscle mass has returned, but I've also stayed the same weight and my body composition has improved. I will likely IF once or twice a week for the health benefits, but not more than that. Thanks for reading!

Some people don't understand that Breakfast.. literally means Break Fast. Your body is already Fasting all night, especially if you don't eat right before you go to sleep which I suggest since I find I sleep better with less in my stomach. Say you have dinner at 4-5pm go to bed around 8-9pm. Wake up around 5am, you've already been fasting 12 hour.. that's half a day worth of time. You already have your intermittent fast in.. if your breaking down muscle tissue and skipping breakfast while following a routine like that because you believe your fasting when you do so.. your shooting yourself in the foot, fasting for longer than is needed and not giving your muscle tissue what it needs to repair..

@cantstopfitness
@cantstopfitness 5 ай бұрын
@georgepower7 you may think so, but again, it's not as it comes down to calorie output vs. input. I encourage people to do what they feel is best for them and easiest to stick to. However, you need to be very sure to look at all of the variables before making assumptions. The data and research show that the only reason you are actually losing weight is because you have created a calorie deficit by OMAD, which obviously also creates a long fast. The same calories distributed into 3 meals will yield a similar result. My main and most important point is finding a solution that is realistic for the long term. If you need to eat OMAD to lose weight and you can't do that forever, then inevitable you will gain it back. I'm personally not a fan of OMAD because constant long fasts mean losing muscle mass, and that's not to conducive to aging well. Don't let yourself become dogmatic and explore many variables 💪🏽

Brassica veggies are broccoli kale cauliflower brussell sprouts, cabbage etc. these foods get proclaimed as healthy but they have a very crucial negative effect on our thyroids. If you eat a lot of these foods and/or have a diet low in iodine you could try removing them and eating more foods with iodine or supplementing it. Tons of people cure their thyroid issues this way (I eat carnivore so I see this pop up a lot in our forums). Most doctors arent aware of all the issues plant defense chemicals can cause to our bodies, since they don’t really know much at all about nutrition - just how to hand out pills, but the research is out there, it’s just a lot quieter than all the marketing behind these “superfoods”

I really don’t need or want to be lower than 130lbs. All that to say, what started out as “intentional” IF is now just a normal habit of my life. I don’t even try hard. My body tells me when I’m hungry and I feed it till the hunger is satisfied. I don’t get cravings often. And yes I have indulged in a bad food choice but it’s usually a small amount and I don’t feel compelled to eat it again. My weight fluctuates from day to day by one or two lbs. I also judge my choices of food and eating times by how my general health is at the moment. If I’ve made a bad choice in food, I usually regret it because I feel lousy after - sluggish, bloated, fluid retention, and pain of inflammation. Sometimes I’m just not even interested in eating or thinking about what to eat which causes me to skip meals - then I eat when my stomach is actually hungry.

Although I am not a scientist and this is extremely anecdotal. I find when I skip meals it creates the caloric deficit that provides the weight loss I want. This has been my primary vehicle for weight loss over the last 10 years. Skipping breakfast is one of the easiest ways of doing this. I usually just replace eating with some form of exercise and then eat my first meal at about noon or 1 pm. When I increase this to omad or one meal a day, my weight loss is much more significant. Again, I'm not a scientist nor do I have any data to back this up. My own results work for me.😊

1) She contradicted herself regarding Fasting & Skipping Dinner twice in one video. Moments before she expressed being against missing meals, yet after Thomas shared his views regarding fasting, she immediately agreed with him instead of sticking to the points she was making. 2) She sounds confused. She also missed many factors. Is she running on glucose? or ketones? If her insulin is spiking evenings, clearly her theories aren’t exactly working. FYI, Cancer is not only a sugar feeder, but also a protein feeder. Is there any consideration for cancer preventions? Hence, focusing primarily on protein in the mornings may be problematic long-term. It’s not exactly the cleanest for the digestive tract.., but to each their own. So.., 3) Do get back to us when she Changes Her Mind AGAIN. 🙏 It should be another entertaining watch- Btw, has she considered structuring her points? Perhaps an Outline? It sounds like a lot of contradictory ramblings. I’m seeing new health problems & a new video titled, “I changed my mind again” in perhaps another 5 years. 🙄

My Godfather was diagnosed with cancer last year - he was in the hospital for almost a month with various complications and infections leading up to chemotherapy. His health slowly declined over that month, along with his muscle mass and his ability to walk. He never recovered, and passed within days of being released from the hospital. @@barbarafairbanks4578 Well, we can agree to disagree. My belief is that taking a healthy food out of the diet because it might interfere with another healthy food starts trending toward orthorexia. Yes, if you can't eat a banana because of this study, I believe that's orthorexia. The simple solution here is to eat a diet high in polyphenols, so if you lose some in one sitting, no big deal because you already have a surplus. The people that tend to live the longest are not worried about every chemical interaction of each piece of food. Most centenarians are not guided by the latest study. Some eat pure junk, some eat healthy. I would bet that almost none of them react to the latest study that suggests removal of a fruit or vegetable. The banana study used Cocoa polyphenols, not berries! If you were a freak, you might not be eating the Cocoa to begin with because of fear of oxalates, lead or cadmium. That would be too bad for you because there are studies that suggest that small amounts of chocolate may increase lifespan despite the possible detrimental constituents of chocolate.

This is a perfect example why you shouldn't go all in from the advice of others concerning your health. They will preach something for years and then preach something else. I am not knocking them but take the information that you receive from these very knowledgeable people on KZfaq and see what works for you. But the key is when you try something monitor you body how it responds and look at you lab results and how you feel overall. Fasting or not Fasting, Carnivore, vegan, or keto and anything else i haven't listed...lol.. Don't be married to a title and don't be married to a concept or movement. Now if eating a certain way is making you healthy by all means stick to it. But keep in mind your body changes and the way you fuel it may change. What works now for you at 30 you may have to change at 50. So stick to what is working but monitor and always be ready in case you have to make changes. And weight loss is not proof you are healthy. Always put health first and weight loss will happen by default if that is your goal. But a crack addict can lose weight. Cancer can make you lose weight. Eating a snickers candy bar two times a day while eating nothing else you will lose weight but will you be healthy? So just sharing some food for thought.

The difference between skipping meals and IF as talked about in this video seems like semantics. I think it’s better to be straightforward and advise folks not to eat 4-5 hours before going to sleep, eat the right amount of calories and macros for your situation/goals within your eating window time, and do resistance training. The “don’t skip meals” thing seems like clickbait. Anyway… I think different strokes for different folks. There’s no one size fits all so no matter what each person must do the work and experiment to figure out what works best for their body.

Agree! And I feel like our society has become too “Oh! It’s (insert meal: breakfast, lunch or dinner) time, I MUST eat!” versus listening to our bodies and actually eating when we are hungry! Sounds so odd to some people lol I’m actually grateful now that, if there actually was food in the house when I was a kid, dinner was at 5pm. I typically didn’t eat again til I was at school the next day when I got free lunch and eventually free breakfast too. But I did Intermittent Fasting, involuntarily! Lol but I’ve never been overweight and did great in school. This probably played a huge part.

My rules of eating are very simple.. Only eat when really hungry and it's ok to go 1 hour and entertain the hungerpain before you give in. And then eat foods that will keep you full the longest time eg. high protein, high fat and what ever else you add in is fine, some people go with fiber, some don't, some go with fruits and veggies, some don't but I don't think it matters much..Personally I eat everything except things with gluten and added sugar and the bad oils like margarine and some types of seed oils.

I do 3 meals a day, no snacks, I stop eating between four and six, and then typically I have my breakfast probably no later than 10 or 11 some days it might be 9 AM. It all depends on the day, but I’ve definitely lost weight throughout the few years that I’ve been doing intermittent fasting, but I do find I can’t get enough in just two meals a day .

I started 16/8 IF four years ago and feeling better ever since. I originally began as a way to maintain weight I had lost and found it gave me more energy though the day. I was also diagnosed with MS 3 years ago and believe it helped a lot with inflammation as well. My symptoms are better when fasting but that may also be because of the food I was eating for breakfast. My diet is quite a bit different now.

She's got a point about the challenge of not getting enough protein. But to maintain my weight, IF works best for me. I have tried cutting calories across the board but was always hungry. I have heard to IF, ideally if your going to skip a meal it should be your last meal of the day instead of breakfast. But most of us socially get together with family and friends which is important for our health. Skipping breakfast is my compromise. As far as the lack of protein, i take creatine, collagen powder, eggs,fish etc. The old research circa 1939 still stands true today. CRON. Caloric restriction with optimal nutrition. If you do skip meals, make your food high nutrition food.

Actually she’s saying you can still have a smaller eating window and eat 3 meals. E.g. 14h fast and 10hr eating window to get 3 meals in. The 3 meals help ensure you get enough protein (1.6g per kg of weight) throughout the day. Peter Attia has also talked about how intaking more than 40g of protein in one meal is not really beneficial as it’ll be converted to glucose which then may be stored as fat if your cells have enough glycogen in the muscles and liver.

Content quality greatly suffers at the expense of pressure for clicks/views. Credibility seems to also suffer. This is the same person I have heard before warning against oxalates, here she is drinking smoothie full of them. And now you should not skip breakfast. Seems there is a disconnect on the definition of breakfast. I don't think anyone skips breakfast, some may wake up and go straight to the kitchen starving, while others don't get hungry until later on. This is not skipping meals. Intermittent fasting is not sinonimos with skipping meals. And please, point to the studies grounding her claim that not eating breakfast causes muscle loss. "Like", "you know", "like"

So I 16/8 most every day, round abouts, and my main component is I skip breakfast and eat at noon. I am strength training 5/6 days a week and I honestly wonder if I get enough protein in those two meals. I do have ample 'storage' however that I am helping to burn. So eating the protein early like eggs, more optimal for those already on the leaner side then? Is it better to fast less and eat the protein early or keep the fast longer in hopes for more fat burning during this period (potentially at the risk of losing some muscle or not adding it's building/sustaining enough). Hope this question made sense thanks.
