Why Hip Hop Doesn't Respect French Montana

From legends such as Jay Z & Eminem to today’s hottest rappers like Lil Baby & Lil Durk, every artist that’s topped the charts or entered the top tier list has reached a point where they’ve either had to evolve and finetune their sound or get out of the way. But if you asked a hip-hop head to categorize or define the sound of the Morrocan-born, multi-platinum selling French Montana, they’d be hard pushed to nail down exactly where his appeal lies. Or even worse, pinpoint what he brings to the table that no one else can.

Look, some people want music worth listening to, something with substance that can make you think. French doesn't make music like that. He makes music that you don't actually hear, you just dance to the beat. There are few things more infuriating to actual music lovers than music with no soul. You can like what you like, but don't try to pretend that artistically French is anything other than dog shit on the games shoes, he's just objectively not.

i personally respect french Montana, because he wouldn't be there if he gives up at the first time he failed, and when his father left them alone in the USA, and he should take care of his mother and two brothers and be the father, he doesn't care about what other people said, that he can't make it, and even English wasn't his first or second language, but he did it, big respect french.

French is all about the money first. 50 said it many times, he was always the dude trying to hang around with rappers and get a name for himself with interviews on Hood DVDs. He moved to the celebrity league by being a featuring rapper getting his shine and bread through others more successful/bigger audience crowd. Another example, his Kardashians reality tv stunt when they were at their peak few years ago, etc. On the other hand, he's got the NY street cred for running rounds with Max B and the Wavvy movement, beat murder charge, got shot to the head, lived in mansions with elevators even before mainstream. All of French Montana’s biggest hits had features. He’s not capable of holding a song down by himself. That’s why he’s not respected and plus he’s not that great of a rapper. There is not one memorable verse from him. People listen to his songs for the features. The only thing about him that’s memorable is the ad-libs and even them don’t belong to him. They belong to the yin Yang twins

Getting with max b also, he did what he had to do, he has plenty of records of all sorts, and for me that's good enough for him to make shit music for younger fans that will spend their money on him. French ain't never been that tight. I remember my friend (siphesande Mathiso) back in 2012 telling how wack French is. We were listening to stay scheming. He also question how the wackest rapper on the song went last. I always liked his catchy club bangers. Never really thought much of him as a rapper. But you can't really hate on French though. He carved a lane for himself though.
