Why I Choose To Live A "Boring" Life at 25 / Hello beautiful people, hope you are well 🌲
Some facts about me and why I decided to make this video:
- I don't own a house, car, or smaller things like a lot of clothes or the most recent smartphone.
- More often than not I prefer staying at home to going out. I feel so much peace at home alone.
- I don't have a degree or training for some specific job
- And my current income is barely over the national poverty threshold.
BUT STILL, I'm happier and more fulfilled than I've ever been.
In this video, I talk about how and why I live a simple life and why I choose slow living over the hustle culture and high income.
Hope you enjoy! 🍃

Preserving our own food. And we are doing a lot with our hands and without machines. I have no electronic item in the kitchen. I stir, I grate, I whipp.....and it's very satisfying. I'm knitting our socks and sweaters, sew and mend our clothes. Very oldfashioned. I have time to do all this and havn't to work to pay someone to do all those things in the house, in the garden and on the land for me.

I'm 41 and totally agree with you both, there was a time when I was worried about not getting the most newest smart phone and new clothes every season, now my phone hasn't rang for 5 years! And I'm happy about it, I love runnings and take care of my dog and my cats, and seriously thinking moving to a cabin.

I recently started a similar journey. I made good money at my job but working there was crushing my soul and destroying my health. The last 2 months I've been unemployed are the happiest I've been in over a decade. Moving forward I want to make more time for my hobbies (art, music, maybe even starting a yt channel who knows) and hopefully I'll find myself in a career I enjoy that allows me to be comfortable in life. Spending money on things I didn't need did not make me any happier, so I stopped doing that a while back. Everything I've saved up for the past 6 years I'm now using to not have to work for a year so that I can focus on improving myself and my mental health. Thanks for the video! It was a difficult choice to make but I feel better knowing that I'm not the only one working towards a simpler life.

I wish for you that all your dreams come true. Too many if us, dont get to think these thoughts - before it's too late, so for every human being that allows her og himself to "wake up" and make their own decicions for their life, the better. Let's hope, that it will end up being The New Normal...🤗 And all the people who dared listen to themselves, will become huge inspiration for the rest of us ❤

It's good that you are talking about this topic. I sometimes forget in my busy life to 'have fun' instead of performing 24/7 in everything I want to do. Sometimes it's good to enjoy those little things like taking a walk around the block or cleaning your house. Thanks for the video, it makes me think!

Thanks for the nice comment, Ronald! Yeah I've learned to think "If I would already have it all, how would I act and what would I do". That keeps me from stretching myself too far with anything and focus on what matters the most 😊 I guess for people like you and me it's not the lack of motivation or drive to do things but rather that we do too much if we are not disciplined 😄

Hi Seve You don,t live a boring life, you have started to live with things that you like and find beneficial to your life. The world is a very controlling place and unless you control it, it will control you. I decluttered my life to the extent i was eliminating so much i felt bereaft and thats no way to live, the Lord tells us to enjoy life, and so i am without being greedy and selfish. Great that you are living the life that gives you peace. Take care xxxxx

That was the same for me. When I was younger and a lot of us I think, were told that "You go to do this and this!" By a certain time limit but fast forward to my mid 20's and I was just like maybe all that stuff is not that important to me. Right before the pandemic I had a meltdown and knew things had to change. Now, I make more time for hobbies instead of just living for school. Some might think, "Working out learning Russian, Swedish, or French, and going to school is boring!" However, too me it is interesting because it is a slow progression. For example, I could understand more on Julkalendrar The Christmas Calendar than a year ago. The changes give smaller rushes of dopamine but are more gradual that getting a high rush of dopamine and then crashing/feeling bad after. I don't regret getting my degree though because it was something I wanted for myself ever since I was young just to prove myself. Now, I have been going to school off and on for 13 and a half years and have been called "doctor" by some of the staff lol.

Haha, what you say is so similar to what I think. I also moved abroad to see what other perspectives are out there and what will suit me. I was tired of all the expectations and goals I am expected to reach. (Also, I just did it because it is fun, moving abroad). But I feel like it's a good way to reset and think about what is really important to me since I also moved here by myself and need to build a life of my own.

Ciao Seve! Wise spoken! We live on our own, not in a cabin but in a small house, payed cash, heat with our own wood, drink our own water, produce our own energy, eat our own fruit and vegetables and left the dependant work several years ago. My love still has his old Nokia phone from 2007, works perfectly. There are times I miss something but most of the time we're happy and feel gifted with the nature all around us. We are poor in the sense of a "normal" lifestyle but it's a philosophical question if I'm content with a the things, skills and opportunities I have or if I need more items to define myself. Saluti della Toscana!

I think you have chosen a great path in life. The thing you have to consider, though, is that it gets a lot harder to live a minimalist life once you get a girlfriend and even more when you have kids.
@bethany9430

That's not true. I have 3 kids and a husband. I have less stuff than my sister who doesn't have either. My kids don't even know what they want for Christmas because they don't care that much about stuff.

@@bethany9430 It is not ALWAYS true, of course, but the share of the population that is "minimalist" is tiny. More likely, the guy will end up with a GF or wife that is anything but minimalist, particularly when it comes to raising kids.

Hi Seve - genuine question and I hope you don't take this as an attack. While throughout my 20s I definitely felt similar sentiments to how you're feeling, is this a sustainable way of living if you plan on having kids or a family? Maybe you don't plan on having those things, and that's ok - but personally I would feel not prepared to raise a family living off a low income. Thoughts?
@SunnyKindJourney
@SunnyKindJourney Жыл бұрын
Excellent question Sayeef! 🙌🏼 I'm privileged enough to live in a country where the social support works well financially. I don't have to worry about going homeless, not having food, paying for school, etc. However, I'm not planning to rely on this and I'm constantly saving money, investing, developing my skills, keeping my eye out on opportunities and posting content here that will eventually help me to build a side income. Even though I don't care to have fame & successful career, I care to be financially independent, and not rely always on others. Therefore, with smart choices I plan to keep my finances in place without burning myself out in the process 😊
