thank you for speaking about this - there are so many cultural ideas spreading these days that seem harmless / innocent but they actually contradict God’s Word and even bringing us further away from Jesus bc we end up relying on our own strength 🥲

I think you might be misconstruing glory for just being mentally healthy. There isn't anything more toxic than a belief that teaches you to feel depressed, "broken", just so you can feel "worthy" of some deities love.
@marielou2365
@marielou2365 3 жыл бұрын
@@visforvendetta1326 yes, that would be a very broken believe. And I can just speak for myself, but I believe that when you are into self love like crazy (and I‘m not talking about a relaxing spaday or something like that) then to me, you remove God from the center of your live and put yourself in the center. And out of my experience, that can end up in egoism
@visforvendetta1326
@visforvendetta1326 3 жыл бұрын
@@marielou2365 in my opinion everyone should be into self-love like crazy, because if you can't love yourself as crazy as you ought to than you will never be able to love others as crazily too. Love comes from within. I believe putting God in the center means you put love in the center. Selfishness is about gratification. Love is about kindness and patience. When I say self-love that's what I mean.

Girl, I had the exact same realization. Since I struggled a lot with anxiety and the habit of negative thoughts, I thought that if I just put the world “on hold” for a few hours, and only took care of myself, that I would feel better. Did it work? Yes. Did I feel a lot more relaxed and rejuvenated? Also yes. Butttt... it did not last at all. I still struggled with the same old negative thoughts. My relationships still kept falling apart. I still did not feel content or happy deep down. And I also couldn’t put my finger on it, but that mindset just always convicted me and I felt like it wasn’t Gods best and most righteous way. The truth is, when we actually step away from these problems and spend time with Jesus, He always renews our mind. When we actually deal with the problem, even if that means it hurts us a little bit, when we think about others before ourselves, life will truly become joyful and worthwhile, and you will be able to react with gratitude even in your most hardest moments. Granted, I am not perfect at this but even in the little ways that I practice this, I have already seen a change and my oh my... God is sooo good for not allowing me to stumble into the world’s/my wisdom, but HIS. His truth, His voice is what we need. I know this world can get very overwhelming, but rest in God and He will give you the strength to overcome it all with LOVE FOR OTHERS. If we don’t consider others (even for a little bit), and we make it all about ourselves, will anyone help us when WE need something? Anyways, I’m so thankful that God gives me strength to do His will even when it’s so difficult, because ultimately, it’s worth it.

Great video. And I couldn’t agree more ! I am slightly ‘heavier’ than I am used to being before I gave my life to Christ- ironically enough more confident about myself now than I was as a size zero. This is a true gift from God. Too many years of placing my self worth in my weight & looks. So freeing!! Love God=Self Love 💞🎀

I can so relate to this. When I put God first into everything I do with my body is honoring the Lord. Most of my life I have been searching for self love, when I try, has quickly as it comes, it quickly leaves. This video came just at the right time. I was just talking about this with my husband today. And this video just concreted what the lord is changing in my life.

You look so beautiful, idk if it's the makeup or the blush pink top or just the glow of Jesus, but dang, girl! And good stuff here. Our joy is found in fixing on something much greater than ourselves and remembering it's all unto His glory 🌈🌟✨ hearing from different guys I'm pretty and getting affirmation from others, and focus on myself, only gets old, empty, and dry. Jesus is a never ending current of truth and love and life and is the One who fills our souls entirely!

I really appreciate this, Because Holy Spirit really started talking to me about this very concept about a year ago, When we give our life to Jesus, it is not our own anymore, ALL GLORY AND HONOR go to Jesus. We are not called to do what makes us “happy” we are called to do what Glorifies God, Joy is a fruit of the spirit and from obedience and honoring God you get to take that joy! Pride is a big issues with the self love trend, I learned I can’t love myself to wholeness, Jesus is the only being that could and can and still continues to love me to wholeness! Really loved this video please keep em coming!

I decided last month to focus all of my time and energy on God and being in his presence 24/7 and it has been such a deliverance. I feel so close to Jesus and I have had so much joy and peace. I found myself being a selfish mother and wife when I focused on “self-love” things and you’re right it didn’t do much for me. It made me more selfish. I’m glad the Holy Spirit opened my eyes and showed me that all I need is Jesus and He will rejuvenate me. That’s the best “self-love”, when we focus on Jesus.

I also want to recommend that a good way to enjoy nature is to go on drives to lakes, oceans, state parks, mountains, etc. It is very easy for me to enjoy God's creation driving in any rural area. (and to enjoy that He made materials that He allows us to use to deal with the insanity of urban areas as well)

This world is teaching us to make idols of ourselves. It is teaching us that we are what is most important and that anything and everything that makes us feel good is okay. Yet, if we take a split second to stop and look at the condition of the world around us, it's pretty easy to see it's not working. We weren't meant to serve ourselves, we were meant to serve God. I would be willing to bet that doing something nice for someone else would lift our mood much more than any self-care routine.

I agree with this so much, it’s very hard to love yourself when the lord is the one who made us and created us the first place, he’s one the that gives us confidence in ourself and it’s not to shade any self love movement but it does take the place of God, everything in this world is just “me” that’s horrible mindset, I have always struggle with confidence and self esteem since I was in middle school cuz being bullied in school until I met God, it wasn’t over night thing where I was confident but everyday God points me out to the truth who I’am and gives me that identity cuz is not easy journey but God is so good that he’s shows me the true queen i’am. Great video 🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️❤️❤️💞💞💞

Such a great perspective. Definitely been trying to follow the self love and hustle movement since 2019, and still I feel incomplete. Yes, it’s nice to feel accomplished but it’s never enough. Godfidence is so much more fulfilling long term. My worth is determined by Him, not the world or my self.

I have done and follow the self-love technique and it did not helped me at all. Thank you for your reminder that God allowed Jesus to live on Earth and died on the cross for my sins because He loves me too much. I struggled with seeing the perspective of what is love and God has definitely taught me and opened my eyes about love through His Scripture and through others. I have struggled and pushed love away for several years and God has been so amazing to me. Who He is and what He did for me is something I will never understand but I am FOREVER grateful for. I have been reading my Bible and praying and talking to Him every day and there hasn’t been a time where I didn’t feel any peace once I was done. I’m trying not to make it as a checklist because I really want to fully feel His love for me.

Self-love doesn't mean avoid pain. It means to accept you are a work in progress, and to give yourself as much patience, kindness, and compassion as you would anyone else. Love comes from within. Call it whatever you want, but the Spirit lives within, and if you love God, then love the temple he built as his vessel.

The truest form of self love is Submission to God. True self love as Christians must be practiced. Self love: following God’s instructions, taking care of others and taking care of ourself so we can do both of those things aswell. Eg. Eating well, exercising, hygiene all so we can help others as God has helped us. However, helping and loving others is indirectly helping and loving ourselves.

I’m a girly girl love so I love to get my hair done and stuff, Dress nicely and such, and that’s fun for me. That’s how I practice loving and appreciating the person God has made me PHYSICALLY. I believe this idea of self love came about people wanting to place their identity in other things outside of the world and secular people thought the best option would be to place it in themselves. We're taught "you can't trust anyone but you" but that is a big lie. We are not strong enough to hold ourselves up against the evils of this world. I asked an atheist acquaintance once who do they rely on when things go bad? Who do they go to when all else fails? And they said "myself", so I asked who do they go to if they fail too? And they had no answer.

just a little thing but one of the main things about self love is loving yourself even when you do nothing! Not based on works like the video mentioned :/ Its just accepting yourself instead of hating yourself ;-; and it will fail as long as your motivation for self love is external and not internal ! I do get the point tho

I feel like acknowledging God is what self love is. Eating healthy, watching the sunset and admiring God's work, that is self love, and He wants that for us. We need to work to maintain that. It is the *only* way to enjoy life and to feel joy. We were meant to enjoy things. Self-confidence only comes from using properly what has been given to us by God and using them for their intended use. And I feel like people mistake self love for doing things that seem right to them. When in reality, we humans are so complex that we have no idea what is actually best for us. The only true way to self-love is acknowledging God and living according to his word. So in reality, what people think is self love, can actually be harmful to them and not actually what they think it is. They might think they're pursuing truth but it will actually work to their detriment. They simply just don't know. They just don't know that God genuinely wants us to be happy, feel joy, have self confidence, etc. Just, the road to getting there is tricky and very unobvious. I feel like loving myself is what naturally ensues when I live in truth, accepting how I feel, accepting that every outcome of every single thing I say and do is right regardless of the consequence, only because I did it for the sake of truth, aka, Jesus. I think true self love feels different than people think it is, but it really feels better than anyone could ever imagine.

Totally agree with you. We need to be discerning because the devil doesn’t need to destroy us - he just needs to distract us! I also make faith KZfaq videos and so excited to be apart of a community like this. Building the kingdom! 🙏

This is such a great perspective, thanks so much for sharing with others! I’m glad God put this on your heart to share 🧡 before I found Jesus, I was heavy into the self love and new age movement, but thankfully He saved me. There is such an emptiness from trying to fulfill yourself through the world and I hope this message reaches more people 🧡
