I understand that some of you purely watch my channel for uni content, but I do hope that you stick around to see the future of my channel despite that! I want this video to show you that trusting your creativity is such a great thing and when faced with a decision where you can choose to prioritise your mental health, it is vital that you do! University and education, in general, are amazing achievements, but should not be completed to the detriment of your health - your mind + body are so important!

jess, how did she prove anything wrong? all she did was spend money of a shop that might not sell anything meaning she might be worse off in a year; less money while working on a lost cause, getting demotivated and depressed because of it. not saying a degree would be worth it but come on, passion doesn't pay the bills! i'm not so sure some of you girls in the comments truly mean what you write. most of you are emitters of feel-good messages that aren't constructive and aren't helping anyone. laura, i know i wrote a lot and spammed the comments but i think i have to. i wish you the best with the shop but i think you got into it too early. you have no life experience. most creatives are miserable, even when they become successful. i think it would be better for you to know that's likely if whatever you do takes of at some point. to keep up with any kind of demand for any product takes a lot of work and it isn't a fun, creative work. it's just boring work to get stuff out the door. you will once again feel like you aren't doing anything creative, give up and you will look for something else to do. even when you make tons of money you won't be happy. the grind takes a toll. i would be very happy if it turns out i was 100% wrong. bye

I also dropped out of university after realising I HATED the course, and did not want to pursue a career in that field anymore. Now I’m not doing anything, a bit of freelance here and there, but I’ve now found my passion in dietetics and am going to apply this year. Life is for living, not suffering through something you’re not even passionate about 😊😊

Same thing happened to me. actually my uni suspended me bc i literally wasnt doing anything because i didn’t like the course but now thankfully i’m out of it. i worked for a few months and all that and now i really wanna go back and study photography ⚡️🤍 ive found my passion :)

I totally feel you about not wanting to be labelled as a drop out. I’ve been struggling with my chronic illness and had to stop uni 3 years in a row and trying one last time in September. It’s difficult bc society puts labels out and tells you how one is supposed to live..

I just wanted to say this has made me so happy!!! I dropped out of art foundation when I was around the same age as you and for a lot of similar reasons and I can honestly say it was the best decision for me mentally and creatively!!!! like you said there is no right way and you HAVE to trust your creativity and believe in yourself

I’m 33 and I spent over 15 years just coasting from job to job. Returning to my art recently and been on KZfaq a year after facing my fears of being on video, enjoy making videos more than I expected . It’s difficult to drop out of uni once started and you should feel proud of yourself for choosing the path that’s right for you. You have a successful KZfaq channel, a sponsored video, a small business all before 20. Yes it feels experimental and scary but if you’re like me, you may forget to celebrate those achievements and they deserve to be celebrated! I only gained the confidence for video last year and still I can be nervous. You come across as natural and confident . So follow your creativity and heart, this video was super chill and positive, definitely put health first. I love canon too, and you’ve made me want to look into this camera. I have the 50mm 1.8f lens what’s the 30mm like ? ☺️☺️☺️ Thanks for putting this video out there and best of luck with the clothing line 🙌☺️

freelancing pays pennies because all the work that the top clients need made is being snatched up by agencies and you're left with awful work that pays nothing. cut-throat approach is the only thing that works out in the wild. you don't wanna know.

Hey so I'm going into my final year of uni in September and I honestly feel so burn out from this year . This year was so so tough and like you feel said in your video when you study a creative degree it's so hard to manage everything. I do freelancing on the side mainly website design and motion graphics. Seeing you talking about looking after your mental health has kinda made me think and take a step back and go at wheather not to go back to uni in September. Also cannon m50 is amazing camera . You are so smart and I'm so happy for you. Live your best life, girl. I powered through a graphic design degree and on graduation realized I was so burnt out I didn't want to do that as a career at all anymore (and even if I did, Chipotle employees get paid more than entry level designers so why would I even waste my time doing that? It felt like a slap to the face). I've been out of uni for three years and just started getting back into art. I'm now planning on pursuing tarot and gardening as a career, and keeping art a fun hobby (commissions welcome lol).

As a fellow creative person(a growing freelance musician) who pursues at least 2 careers and am currently on deferral from uni(and might drop out eventually) as well as navigating through several major life changes, I totally feel and support your decision to drop out uni. My music career came to a plateau for 2 years when I was in a very conservative music school in Adelaide, Australia, so I switched to another degree(for my 2nd career) and continued my music career outside which really flourished after I left that music school to the point that I’m now recognised as a junior colleague by a number of world-class musicians! So I concur that uni, despite now seen as a default path, isn’t one-size-fits-all, especially if the uni/course isn’t a good fit for you(this happens a lot among music schools). So it’s absolutely alright to drop out of uni and do what’s truly best for you career AND well-being, plus remember back in 50-60 years ago numerous people achieved incredible feats without ever going to Uni! 😉

today is not 50-60 years ago, man. back then tests were much more difficult. i had the chance to see my grandmothers grade school tests and it was as if an alien gave me something from another world. i had no idea what was going on. the bar keeps getting lower and lower because the universities are corrupt and the love money. they don't give a f- about the kids or what they learn. i got more from youtube in the first 6 months of using it than from 15 years of school. but if you're a girl and you aren't set on getting married my opinion is you have to get a degree and a good job to have any chance of being somewhat safe 20 years down the line. most girls will live alone by the time they're 45 and with a degree and a good job you're at least some kind of security.

Wow. Seems like alot of issues here. Your boat is going through alot of storms. I think you did the right choice tho. Keeping your mental sounds cheesy but is underrated. I Cant tell how this is going to turn out in the future but I think you did the right choice.

The 4K video is cropped just so you know guys. You don’t wanna get to the point where you know enough that it limits you. Always do extra research but it’s actually a great camera

Supposed to be doing my masters now but something deep inside doesn't want me to be in school. I feel like that's not where I'm supposed to be. I just wanna do what I feel like doing from the bottom of my heart. Life is short and I wanna live everyday like it's my last. I haven't figured everything out but I hope as days go by, things will unfold for me. But for now, I'm focusing on my music career.
