I loved your topic, I think social media is really toxic. Seven months ago, I deleted Instagram, and I think it was the best decision for me and my mental health. I am experiencing an issue with my body image, and since deleting the app, I have experienced a significant increase in happiness as I no longer compare myself to my friends and influencers. It was not that essay in the beginning because I always wanted to know what people were up to, but now I love not knowing. My biggest issue was that my friends would ask me why I deleted the app, even though I could send them things like memes on another app. The way my friends viewed Instagram as the only app in the world made me sad. I use normal messages and WhatsApp now, and it works really well. I would like to say that if you had the tought to delete Instagram or any other platform, just do it. Your mental health will thank you.

To be honest, even people that go on and say “I’m so real with my feelings, I show my true self too” that’s also very annoying. None of us get anything from it. People think they can relate to the rawness of others, and so many influencers are “real with their feelings” yet those same people are still very depressed. It’s like some narcissist reel is in with their vulnerability.

It's social media but it glamourises anti social behavior, cutting people off, letting people go, prioritize yourself, toxic self care culture, put yourself first and the list goes on

The peer pressure is real. Everytime I scroll on social media it makes me angry for some reason. I feel angry because I'm not living my best life like them. Or I don't feel good enough like them. If people know that social media is full of lies, why do they keep faking it? It pressures us to dress and look a certain way, doesn't promote any individuality. I hate it so much it always makes me feel like I should "glow up" in order to be liked or respected by others.

Bah, peer pressure is nothing. Why don't you talk about the way they mentally and emotionally cripple the foreigners? Your generation is so brainwashed, you follow the rich people who never talk about the real problems who are only after money.

At this point, social media should just be called something else. It Is ironically less about being social and making friends. It’s more about validation, drama, negativity, algorithms, likes and followers now. It use to be about expressing creativity. Now it’s about divide and conquer, eat or be eaten, with me or against me, us vs. them. I don’t feel more social or connected. I feel depressed, anxious, judgmental and lonely.
