After all, the phriggin' vehicle is close to forty years old and you acquired it for a rock bottom price. The only alternative that we brainstormed was to use slightly longer wood screws but only TWO drilled diagonally. Physics state this will provide a sturdy mount on par with the four holes. We appreciate your lengthy explanation of why you chose that particular McGyver but this is so easily repairable it's beyond reproach. The doors won’t rust as they’re aluminium. I also never wash my Silver Slpirit. I just use a towel. I did the one end in soapy water and wipe the car. I then use the other end to dry it. I have seen people washing their cars with pressure washers!! The car is beautiful. I can tell how much you love the marque. I was the PR manager of the Company in the 1970s and its wonderful to witness the continuing interest in the cars.

Your car, your rules and that's how it should be, My AMC Matador wagon had it's original radio in working order and I still switched it out because I like to have music in my car. Even then I never threw it out or sold it because I still kept it as part of the history of the car. I know an AMC Matador is nowhere near as cool or expensive as a Roles Royce but you get my point. In my honest opinion there's no better feeling than driving around in a classic car while blasting some Iron Maiden or Judas Priest with the sound of nice V8 to back it up but to each their own. I've got UV ceramic tint on my 2005 Camry, I'm actually going in to tint the windshield next week. Not as dark as the side windows but darker than it is now.The glass on Camry's is huge. It allows too much light in and i'm light sensitive.

What I been doing for my old car radios is gutting old broken radios and mounting a Bluetooth amp module in them. Less fancy than the radio you are using but also way less expensive.
