As much as I enjoy KZfaq and making tutorials and helpful videos, there is many reasons why I dislike it. In this video I explain why I struggle to keep up with my youtube channel and why I keep making the videos.

One thing I have found common with a lot of successful KZfaqrs and just successful people in general. There is always hate/negativity involved! If you do not have hate/negativity you are doing something wrong! Use the positivity and encouragement to continue to do anything you love brother! Keep up the good work!

Always remember that the people posting negative comments are bums. They wanna do what you do but they're cowards. They are also extremely jealous because they're not where they want to be in life. KZfaq needs more WORKING photographers like you that don't just review gear, but actually know what they're talking about,

Really appreciate it. I agree completely and wanted to make this to give some insight and explain how much comments like these encourage me to make more videos

You’re R6 settings and Autofocus Set up videos really helped me out! Long story short - I’m a wedding photographer and shoot Fuji and rent a second body, 3 days before a wedding my rental XT3 was written off by the previous customer, the only option I had for a second body was an R6 and and 85 1.2 (with which I have now fallen in love). So 10pm the night before the wedding I eventually get my hands on the R6 and start to work out how similar it is to my old 700D that I shot with about 5 years ago, and I find your 2 R6(/R5) set up videos and you saved my bacon. Your videos helped me set up the R6 and gave me the confidence to know it would do exactly what I needed it too on the day. You’re a great teacher, your instructions are clear and you seem like a very genuine person. Thank you for doing what you do, I look forward seeing what you make next!

You are a true professional photographer. I worked in a lab that catered to professional photographers in the 1980’s. There were a few very good ones, the average ones and the what the hell ones. That’s what you have watching your videos. You can’t please everyone because that’s impossible. You do great, so don’t be deterred. Thanks for your hard work making videos.

Man I just don't understand people. Regardless if I like the video or not I start out with a Thumbs Up just for the effort they put into it and the thumbs up lets me know I've watched that video already. I would never leave negative comments, just will unsubscribe if I don't like the content. I'm a KZfaq junkie and everything I've learned about photography has came from KZfaq. Brett you put out really good content and you have a down to earth persona about you that most people on KZfaq don't have. I have always wondered why you don't put out more content and know I know and fully understand. Regardless I'll be waiting for you to put something out and soak it up like always. People suck!

My suggestion is to create a space with questions for members of your channel, the financial contribution would certainly filter out these clueless people, on the other hand you could continue doing what you love and helping people who really like and need your knowledge.

Just yesterday Nikon presented the Z9. After watching all sorts of previews by people reviewing gear and some professional landscape and wildlife photographers, I was interested in a sports photographer's opinion. Not by someone going once and a while to a soccer match if they have a D6, Z9, or an R3 to review. Your feedback, opinion, knowledge is so valuable in this space of youtube, as this type of professionalism is lacking. Keep it up.

So very welcome! I’d love to try the camera out but since all the Nikon reps I knew are laid off now. I’m unsure how that would be possible. So you’ll be stuck with the non pro reviews probably

You're a great person and educator, Brett! Keep it up! I’m wondering, why not just turn off the "Comments" feature? Would that defeat the purpose?
@BrettCarlsen
@BrettCarlsen 3 жыл бұрын
Well. Engagement helps more people find things for one. But Many people ask valid questions that myself or others can help people learn from. Etc. so I like to have them and engage because I think it helps people out. But some days, yes I want to turn them off haha. Someone was mad about the way I say “button” as an example 🤦🏻‍♂️

I totally get what you’re saying. Especially youtube and twitter can be toxic places. What works for me is to require comments to be approved by you. It’s extra work but allows you to keep constructive engagement and filter out all the junk. Just an idea. This is the first video I saw from you, but will be watching some of your work. Keep it up .. it is people like you that make life worth living

Been a fan and supporter a long time. Keep up the great work. I’m not sure why the haters come out of the woodwork to post negative comments when it’s faster to just click away and move on… further, most of the ass hat haters have never created a video nor put themselves out there at all… posting shit comments is the ultimate sign of a coward and a loser.

You have guts to do these videos - I make videos too (not photography related) and I get all sorts of negative comments too. However, I am a lawyer so I'm kind of used to it (the negative comments). LOL. Hard to ignore the trolls isn't it? It's a little unfortunate though - the negative comments come from people with - likely - a sad existence. Thank you for uploading!
