You made very good points. I don't get why some people go to great lengths to defend this game and call you a hater. People who constantly critique a product are the ones that are the most passionate. We all want TSW to be better, and players have every right to be critical of DTG for underdelivering. I like TSW as well, but Dovetail's business practices are pushing people away from the franchise, which isn't a good thing. Lack of competition, in my opinion, is why DTG act like this. There is also nothing wrong with liking the game either, but people shouldn't try to shoot down someone just because they have an opinion that doesn't fit their viewpoint. That is just being arrogant. That's a problem that I notice in this community

I'm an ex-MSTS, TSC, TSW user (the last time I loaded TSW was February '23). You've raised some very interesting points in your video and I was nodding my head to most, if not all points raised. I think my biggest bug bear was being sold the same stock over and over (or having to purchase other routes just to make routes I do want to drive actually have other trains in it!) I've now moved over to SimRail for the longer routes and more so, for the multiplayer whereby no two runs are every the same.

It's too bad this is what Train Sim World has become. This game had great potential and I thought big things were to come when it was first announced back in 2016. All it is now is trains of varying quality, routes that are short and linear, an editor that should've come a long time ago, still no multiplayer, and three resellings. I love timetable mode, and I like walking around the stations and trains, but otherwise there are very few positives to take away. I have no hope this game will get any better. Even if they do finally add multiplayer, I already have Simrail for that.

I think what TSW needs is new countries. Add a Scandinavian, Japanese or an Australian route for example so that there is more variety.

I believe the fact that Train Simulator Classic has almost double the amount of TSW4's player count and more than TSW3/2 player count combined speaks volumes alone. I really hope Dovetail really steps up to their mistakes but considering their nature, I have very low expectations. Once Dovetail will be cornered financially like an animal due to the amount of people pushed away, they'll either finally start to listen to save what's left or maximize their terrible practices and seal this coffin for good..

I fully agree with your final thought in this video. DTG are the masters of their own demise. They put out unoptimised, unfinished products with vague statements that X or Y will be added and fixed at some point in the future. Then they release their game and find out it's horribly broken and all hands are on deck to fix an unfinished game. What happens to those promised X and Y features? Slowly pushed down the road and may never come to light as other pressing priorities come up (such as pushing out more lacklustre DLC to keep the lights on). I'm convinced at this point that they could care less what long term players think (fanboys or otherwise). I feel like they're playing a pathetic board room numbers game rather than building a quality product. They probably have data on attrition (i.e. how many customers will we lose by putting out broken TSW4) vs conning new customers into their game. If they figure they'll have a + percentage then off they go. All they end up doing is pissing off a lot of old customers and having their army of fanboys and ambassadors come to their defence. Any reason everything they put on Steam has a mixed or negative review score?

I honestly agree with essentially every point in this video. I, like you, really like the shorter and less linear routes the game has to offer, And I personally hope for more, Especially to the IL22 standard - As a brit who's been to the island, it's an incredibly accurate route too. It's why I'm looking forward to Blackpool - Preston - Ormskirk as well. It looks so promising.

I want to like TSW and play it, but I'm a console player so like no mod support, the game itself is expensive, and that just gets you like 5 trains and 3 routes. Anything extra is at least a $20 dollar dlc, it's just annoying.

I am a real world Traindriver for Deutsche Bahn. Tbh, TSW is a game and not a simulator by any means. Which is sad, since there is the potential of playing real life shifts, real life train preparation etc.

Well i am quite happy that atleast somebody is offering unbiased content for this game. Now for playing train games on Android this game is amazing but when comparing to the expectations the routes lack contrast and that reality which you expect. Well this is my opinion and i somewhat agree with yours.

The PC Editor for TSW4 seems nice, but I feel like it’s just a way for DTG to continue to release crap routes (possibly less often), and use the community to do their work. I’ll stick to NIMBY Rails for route building.

You make some great points in this video and I understand your possible concerns. This game still has so much potential that just isn’t utilised atm. And I’m worried when they eventually do make my local route they will do something stupid like Ipswich-Norwich, which is the most boring section of the route with only 2tph each way north of Stowmarket. Or worse they’ll give it to Rivet games and we will have some of my favourite trains with bad sounds But that all being said, I do hope you keep making reviews of this game as you help inform my dlc choices, thanks to your video I decided to wait for a sale on the Peak Forest route. :)

I used to play way too much Trainz when I was younger and enjoyed it. Of course interests shifted but I lokked into TrainSim options last year. TSW sure looks nice ( apart from that LOD/ shadow flickering) but the the negative points you mentioned kept me from a buy. But its hard for the Devs too: Imagine trying to create a simulator for the most judgemental and picky group out there: train- people :) And as a niche product it will always be hard to get funds for a truly better game and addons...

Unfortunately, Down Trending Games have proven time and time again and had plenty of opportunity to do the right thing to start equalising the quality vs profit mentality. TSW 5 will release in similar shambolic fashion as TSW 4 and the Dodgy Train Grifters will sit back laughing in the face of the customer once more. I am just sick of the empty promises and half baked products they churn out like a McDonalds store and the refusal to admit or address anything that is missing or bug ridden. I'm off to heckle a Shambassador and drink my morning raktajino.

I do agree with this video i actually kinda like that you do make these videos and saying how it is about dovetail games theyve been taking advantage of the series for so long and it feels like after the london rush hour its; been fairly lazy with no proper terminus' the faversham is good but it would be good it the high speed went to dover or extend the local to london or something like it just feels like its getting so lazy these days

The TSW graphics is not DTG achievement I have to say as this is the UE4 engine and, how to put it, not the best use of its features considering some fundamental flaw in assets loading causing periodic stuttering even on fast machines, from original TSW to the 'all-new' TSW4. What's the DTG input? Models are pretty much the same as late TSC, scenery detail is more or less on the same level though TSW even looks less natural and more 'plastic' at times due to that overblown nuclear sun burn. I mean, if you ever saw games like Euro Truck Simulator 2 you can be sure even a small team can develop the engine capable of putting vast spaces on screen with smooth dynamic map loading and with absolutely budget hardware requirements. DTG using UE4 is like an idiot trying to shoot flies with an orbital laser. It's too complex and powerful for their task plus they don't know how to use it properly. Anyway with new prices (including the recent price 'adjustment' for old DLCs) it's all ridiculous as it's hard to recommend a sane person to buy a 40-minute route for the price of some shooter or RPG you can pretty much play and enjoy for months if not years.

We need the Enterprise route from belfast to dublin. And for note the Portadown-Londonderry line is called the Portadown-Derry~Londonderry line

I've fully stopped buying their products purely because the content just feels half done. It feels like they gone, "that'll do, let's make some cash". There's always something wrong with a new route or loco. Whether that be, bad lighting, incorrect or re-used sounds, terrible optimisation (don't get me started on the London-Brighton route when it first came out) or glitchy NPCs. A very lazy company that only put out incomplete content at a sometimes ridiculous price. I would rather they took their time and make a great product, than rushing something to make a quick buck.

People may think I'm a DTG fanboy, but I have my own negative opinions too, especially with some of the sounds, particularly the ECW 377 and Rivet Class 385, the ECML choice for TSW4 should have been Kings X to Peterborough. However once I get access to the editor, I will be developing the first WCML modern day route. My choice of route may be similar to how DTG chose ECML, but I will try to do a better job. My route is planned to be WCML Trent Valley from Rugby to Crewe but I will be planning to actually include both routes between Stafford and Crewe to try and add a better service variety. I will not rush it too, and also make sure the scenary is good, no kissing OHLE, and try to introduce TWO new trains. What do you say about that?

just a thougt: I think you should give luzern- sursee a shot, since you like the island line 2022. I picked it up during the current sale, it's not exceptional but it's a pleasant short run.

As a very casual user now (spent alot of time 2015-2018 on this game in the past and loved it) it feels like this sim is going backwards in development. Routes are getting shorter and shorter. I like high speed trains and had the entire East Coast Mainline from London to Scotland. Would love to do that again but they do not make it possible. OK that scenery was a bit extreme but London to Reading does not really excite me. The problem is this sim has a very steep learning curve. You have to invest alot of time into it. Not really for a casual sim user. Am I prepared to invest the hours I used to in this game? No😢 I would rather one super long route than the hodgepdge of little routes they have now at maximum prices. The glory days are over it seems. If I was the designer I would make one proper high speed scenery say Paris to Marseille (the entire route) and do slow lines around it. So slow trains can be simulated. Include some regional intercity rail. Would prefer to be in a country I don’t want and have a proper route to use in a high or slow speed train. The effort they put in to multiple sceneries would acheive the goal.

What pisses me off is the constant blurry glitch whenever I drive the Class 700 ThamesLink train and every time I zoom-in into the consoles ! , but don’t get me wrong I love this game. And worse it’s the same blurry glitch that existed on TSW 3 !

Your complaints are warranted. Look at OpenBVE and BVE4 and free routes put out by anthony bowden in the 2000's. The line was free, the rolling stock free, passenger view free, 3d cab you guessed it - FREE! The graphics were GREAT for the era and being free and opensource. Also what bothers me about these trainsim releases is the DLC. The price of these are ridiculous. £30 for birmingham cross city. Ridiculous price for essentially what is a reliveried 323 that's out of date and a couple of developers placing assets in a map maker. Barely any custom assets made for the line at all. Dovetail need competition and fast, the DLC grinding is totally fucked! One other thing that bothers me is the lack of any sort of optimisation, the games run like shit unless you have a top of the line PC and I know I will be upgrading but please on low graphics it really should be optimised better for the price they're bending you over for!

I like your style of angry comments. Haha. Always exhilarating. But you are right. I also enjoy playing the game, but some route choices are really bad. Especially high speed lines are pretty boring. All in all the base game gets better with every step (i.e. free roam, editor, weather), while the route creation gets worse. Much more rushed scenery, to the maximum of economics packed bundles and abandoned older content. But you need to consider, the developers are not lazy. Their bosses and program-team that defines the packs to be developed are a too stingy. That leads to close time frames and less new vehicles.

I was always quite optimistic of train sim world would improve but the moment they made the austrian route dovetail gave me the finger. Wrong signaling, no platform announcements and the öbb 4024 talent has actually the sound of an electrostar, not the one of the talent two. Besides that it is the only öbb vehicle released with this route and thats just pathetic…

Tbf you have a right to complain about Dovetails product especially when you pay alot of money for unfinished routes that are rushed out just for money re used locomotives that we don't want improvements are needed I'm starting to lose interest a bit

I hope you understand Dovetail didn't build or create the feature of getting up and walking around in TSW4 as the Unreal Engine has that already built into their software! so, talking about getting out of the driver seat and walking around the stations isn't something DTG made. a lot of the in-game features most players don't know are honestly already built into the Unreal Engine such as Free first-person modes to 1000 different real life static models such as Vehicles to building and trees, giving respect to DTG for something they didn't make doesn't fit the bill. TSW2 TSW3 and TSW4 all suffer from the same fate as the ones before it as TSW1 is and was the Best of the bunch of Reasons most noted number one reason is, it was an Only PC game at the time! DTG's caters to Consoles now making less improvements to the overall game due to what the Consoles can only handle as PC players could handle it better than Consoles. The overall lack of lower graded graphics from TSW2 to the other TSW games sure shows TSW has sold out years ago. Adding features into a game that Nobody asked for in the first place also killed the brand, because you know everyone asked for traction adhesive or better clouds. I still to this day remember and have screenshots of the TSW1 Beta saying Multiplayer and Route Editor will be in-game and that was back in 2018 and all we have gotten is a clucky outdated Route Editor in TSW4, I'm glad DTG's really listens to their Players. DTG is more about Consoles and Passenger Trains when it clearly shows Nobody is play TSW4 for Freight as reasons why DTGs freight services fail all the time on reviews. Only players playing Freight are those who don't have PC gaming rig's and even if they had one highly debut their playing TSW4 for freight as there are so many other better games about Freight Railroading. Which DTG should just cut freight out of the picture completely and just make a game based on Passenger Services.

To get routes from Australia, new zealand and other parts of the uk, dtg requires the licenses which aren't easy to get. Australia for example is giving dtg a hard time when it comes to licensing. Some operators say no completely. Unbranded content wouldn't work either since it received a lot of flak when rivet released a fictional swr livery. What should dtg have created then instead of lgv? The line to lyon is even more long and linear from tsc. There is no other French license to do commuter traffic so what would be your suggestion?

Some legitimate criticism, but also quite a bit of entitlement. The quality of routes and weird route choices are often rather irritating, and the lack of new stock (the EWS 66 being everywhere is incredibly annoying when we have plenty of other British freight locos)

As a F2P TSW player, ive been constantly left out of many experiences that i wish i had. The steam update for TSW3 was an amazing addition, but as someone who doesn't agree with paying for content that should be free off rip, its always out of my reach.

i purchased tsw4 then thought nah stuff dovetail and refunded it and i went and purchased jr east train simulator now thats expensive and addictive

i really think DTG should add more to the steam simulation in the game. Dont get me wrong, im glad we have steam locomotives in the game, but it's a set it and forget kind of deal where you just start and go like a more simpler train would. Having to actually operate it like a real locomotive could be challenging but fun at the same time. Maybe if you do something wrong it could cause a boiler explosion and you have to restart the whole scenario. It puts more of a challenge to players who dont know how a steam locomotive works. Just an idea.

It's gotten to the point where I don't even want pirate it - it's 250+ gigs of, at best, mediocre content. I'd rather go play ZuSi or Run 8. They take less than 10% of that space combined, more fun to play and guess what: I only had to buy them once!
