There’s a lot of theories behind the Whistle MV but the one I buy is the video game theory. They are supposedly inside a video game-the cartridge handed to Jennie is titled “Blackpink” and they are fixing the controllers and such and then they are sitting in front for a TV like ready to play. You will also notice that the video intentionally glitches in several occasions. Plus they seem to be in an open world game-moving around in circles and being in open and empty spaces, like trying to find their way. In that theory, people say that they seem to know that they will be controlled by everyone once they debut-the company, the fans, etc. Whistle is still the only kpop debut song that achieved a Perfect All-Kill. It’s really a good song. A good mix of experimentation thrown in as well. It was experimental in that it doesn’t sound like the usual kpop releases but at the same time, it is very comfortable to listen to and didn’t alienate the audience. Boombayah may have been a bigger hit and banger but Whistle won them the awards. Also, Rosé is supposedly the “bad girl” in the group. In the pre-debut photos, she is portrayed to be the punk rocker badass girl who doesn’t give a damn-opposite to Jisoo’s soft girl-next-door vibe. But eventually she dropped that vibe and just went with what better suited her voice and probably personality. Finally, yes, you should watch that Acoustic stage in full! There is an 8-min version here in YT. The official one is only around 4 mins. But the 8-minute one has this sort of encore where they are just jamming. Rosé holding herself up together with the veterans was a sight to behold.

Their discography is relatively small, they have 23 songs in total including their b-sides lol so I'm sure you will get through it in time for their comeback (which many of us anticipate to be in late april at the earliest and early june at the latest)! I suggest watching color coded lyric videos for b-sides so you can get the lyrics, they have some beautifully written songs. And for live performances, their Tokyo Dome concert is simply unmatched. Fun fact: Boombayah was going to be called Oppayah but Jisoo asked to change it to Boombayah because she thought it made them sound boy crazy lol and in Whistle, it's Jisoo who is whistling and it was the most difficult part to record, Teddy said it took them hundreds of tries lol. Also here is a little request - Lisa's birthday is coming up so can we have a special reaction video for that? I have two suggestions: if you are up for a longer video and very emotional journey where you will get to know Lisa much better, I would love a reaction to "Lalisa Documentary Film". If not, then a Lilifilm The Movie reaction since that's the only Lilidance you haven't reacted to yet and imo it's the best one and the general fan favorite too.

Some critiques portrays the 'Whistle' music video to as how they are about to take over the world along with their fans. In the first few scenes, you would see jennie buying a video game which represents their career, and lisa making a pink controller representing the fans. In the bridge, when you see all of the members on top of the globe, the world slowly turns pink saying they're actually taking over the world( also seen in How You Like That music video on the dance break part, the ceiling is a world map in the color pink). If you would notice when they we're riding the car, they we're going in circles meaning until they switch to the bicycles, we see them being free and are doing what they aspire in life. Then, the pre chorus in the first verse, you see the car filled with fish inside(representing the fans) portrays that the fans are also taking a part on how they would be successful as an artist. The chandelier is seen as a luxury item, when you see them dancing below the chandeliers, their outfits have a color-relation to the item meaning they can be luxurious or even more than a chandelier. Lastly, a horse is often seen to represent endurance, freedom, and majesty.

I saw BlackPink when they toured North America in 2019. I went to their show at Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. The show was the same night as some music awards show in NYC that Dua Lipa was a nominee for, but she decided to make a surprise appearance at the BlackPink concert instead and performed "Kiss and Make Up" with the girls.

BTW, IMO the reason that Jennie's and Lisa's raps were much less masculine during the live performance is that the performance was in Seoul 2018, where the audience is not wanting it's girl groups to be gangsta rappers but more female fan friendly. If you see BP perform Whistle at Coachella 2019, the raps were more in your face masculine similar to the MV.

I recommend also listening to their B-sides and also looking a bit more into what they are like Irl. One of my personal favorite b-side songs is Really.

Great reaction, as always. As to Whistle, another reactor mentioned that he was getting mysterious and somewhat ominous vibes from this song. I myself get American Horror Story, Witches Coven - ghost kinda vibes. The only thing missing is the big oversized witches hats. Just look at Jisoo and Lisa sitting in front of that dead tree. Look at all four of them sitting around that table, somber, turning to the camera as if you are a living person walking into THEIR house, which they haunt as ghosts. Look at Jisoo floating in mid air reading that book. Feel the ominous vibe from the animal heads in Jennie's rap scene. Is there a single scene where they seem anything but forlorn and full of regret? Were they forlorn lovers that came to live in the house, taken over by an evil presence and committed murder suicide with a lover that was about to abandon them? Are they now destined to whistle their cries for love and of regret in that house for eternity? Yeah, a bit of stretch, but just look at the crazy supernatural vibes given. IMO YG and Teddy recognize that Horror, like Sexy, has a huge audience, and they injected both of those vibes in Whistle. As to you sounding "Crazy", welcome to the "Crazy" Club, you are among friends and your kind (i.e., Blinks).
