It has likely imploded, and that's when the communications were lost. I just watched a four part series from a travel vlogger named alanxmundo who went down to the Titanic in this very submersible. He had to make two attempts because the first one they had to cancel because it was too dangerous. He gives an excellent insight into all the preparations that the crews have to make. On his second attempt the following year his submersible actually lost communication with the ship for some minutes before it was restored. The driver of he submersible was actually beginning to start the process of aborting the descent and bringing it up to the surface when communications were restored and they were allowed to go on to the bottom. They actually spend a good hour touring the ship and seeing the "money shot" the prow etc before returning to the surface. In the end he makes some interesting comments about the company and the experience as a whole, and visits the cemetery in Halifax where hundreds of Titanic's victims are buried. I recommend you watch his videos about his excursion on the Titan, this same submersible that went missing here, if you're interested inlearning more about it. Start with Part 1 but if you just want to watch the episode where he reaches the Titanic you can skip to Part 4. Only issue is that it's in Spanish. Not sure if it's closed captioned in English . . . Part 1 title is "Mi expedición al TITANIC parte 1/4 | Alan por el mundo"

Did they even think on a backup or some sort of investment into how to retrieve or communicate with a sub in the case of emergency? I hope the sub will be found eventually, but I think the chances are extremely low. You have to ask yourself always 'what if' if you do potentially dangerous things. Always have backup for everything, otherwise stay clear of it. Have a pinger mounted outside the hull which operates for at least 30 days. Have an escape plan. Have alternative means of contacting any vessels in case of emergencies. If not, it is like playing Russian Roulette with your life. Sorry for all the pain and sorrow the relatives and loved ones are enduring. Let's hope for a miracle.

most vehicles that are capable of this activity of deep sea diving, are attached to the surface vessel with a cable and hard wired communications, this may be a turning point in deep sea exploration, the titanic disaster changed the world of surface travel by setting new standards and laws that there be enough lifeboats for every passenger. if this mini sub was going to such depth free diving, it just gives me chills, its made of plastic composites, there would be almost no radar echo.

@@wojciech5177 You need to think about the physics of this and I'll just put it simply. Air is less dense and far lighter than water. You see how bubbles always persistently rise to the top in water? Yeah, that. The water wants to 'push' the air away. The Titanic has no air on board. It was all pushed out as it sank and you can see a good illustration of that in the movie. Any pockets would have caved as is sunk deeper. As it sits now it is full of water and solid objects. There is no more air to be pushed out so what's left stays intact. They went down basically in an air bubble which defies what physics wants to do. The pressure down there is massive. Like 400 atmospheres. This sub has to be air tight and even a hairline of a hairline of a hairline of a fracture would breach the hull. By breach I mean catastrophic instantaneous implosion. The crew and vessel would become one melded misty paste in less than a second and the air would rise to the top.

the thing is... it cant rescue them even if they had another one. It doesnt have the ability to tow. they could literally find them underwater and not be able to do anything to save them.

They’re gone. Unless they find them bobbing on the surface, there must have been a seal that blew or something. Even if they totally lost power, they could manually drop the ballast and float up.

Unfortunately, the sub had NO manual operational devices. Everything was controlled, monitored or operated using a bluetooth PS3 controller, and two consumer laptops. There was a single toggle button inside the sub, (probably just an on/off switch), but if any of the electronic devices lost power, or had their bluetooth fail, then there would be no meaningful actions the occupants could take that would improve their odds. 🎮🔋🚫😞

The ballast is on the form of water tanks that has be pumped out. If the rebreather systems failed, they would have died from carbon dioxide poisoning

@@ptrixThere is 7 fail safes on the sub. 1 is after 24 hours it will drop its weights allowing it to resurface regardless if it has power or not. It's also controlled by an Xbox controller, not Playstation.

@@ginodelgobbo9237 it's neither. It's a logitech made bluetooth controller that the CEO said was similar to a Playstation controller.

It is 39 F down there, so chills are a problem. No bathroom either? Been in a bad crash and wait for rescue, and one gets very focused on the way out, and I didn't care about stuff that would have been terrible in another situation.

Imagine being a 19 year old kid, probably just finished highschool, and your Dad/Mom tell you that we are all going on a Titanic Expedition. They dont mention how much is cost, only that you are coming along and it will be a monumental experience. You board the sub and are greeted by friendly men. You are excited and nervous at the same time, but with all the men on board and the mothersub, you push back the doubts you have about surrendering your ability to save yourself if the worst case scenario occurs. The sub gets bolted by the outside with 17 total bolts. Its impossible to back out now. You need to be grateful that your parents arranged for you to come and this is one of those "Once in a lifetime" type of experience. You are cleared for descent...

The most serious and fact-bound reporting on this incident so far 👍🏼 Very different from that over-emotional "omg, how do they feel right now" speculative reporting by US channels. Appreciate it 👍🏼

@@anonymousaviator277it would work up to a certain depth. That’s the problem. It’s impossible to track the trajectory because they didn’t document their descent in any fashion. This is why the field of search is massive. It’s not clear how far off kilter they descended nor if they got swept into a deep current.

It’s even worse to think that even if they made it to the surface, they could still run out of air, with no hatch and no external means to unbolt the air-tight compartment (apparently.) Hoping for the best still.
