Jennifer Lopez gets real about her painful split from her now-husband, Ben Affleck. In a chat with Apple Music's Zane Lowe, the singer opens up about her new album, 'This Is Me... Now,' a follow-up to her 2002 album, 'This Is Me... Then,' which she wrote and recorded while she and Ben were together. J.Lo reveals that after they ended their two-year engagement in 2004, she thought she was 'going to die' and couldn't perform songs from that album anymore. But since the two rekindled their romance in 2021, the actress says she was inspired to create her new album. Jennifer says, 'When he came back into my life again, the same thing happened where I felt so inspired and so overtaken with emotion that it was just pouring out of me.'

My step-dad broke up with my mom when they were 17. They found each other in their early 60's and got married. After she died a few years later, he said breaking up with her and losing out on all those years he could've had with her was the biggest regret of his life. Men want to play when the lady knows she's met her soulmate, and that's how true love gets ruined. I tried to warn the love of my life of this, but he didn't listen. 10 years later out of the blue he wants me back. But I won't have him, that ship has sailed as sometimes it does. Don't waste your time men, when you know you've found that only one that gives you THAT feeling.

I really understand this. My husband and I dated when we were in high school. When we broke up I was devastated. I had a failed marriage and he had two. We got back together 20 years later and we have been happily married for 9 years now. I believe that's why her other relationship didn't work out. Now she is with the right person.

Wow that is exactly my story! Me and my hubby reunited 20 years later, still going strong! We didn’t officially break up my mom forced me to move out of state and I was heartbroken because I lost touch with him- pre mobile phone and social media days! We had both been married and had kids in between those 20 years.

As someone who has been in love, even the idea of not being able to be with that person felt like somebody repeatedly stabbing me. So it's nice to know celebrities go through these things too! She is telling lies. She went straight from Ben’s bed to Marc Anthony’s bed (while Marc was married to another woman, but JLo didn’t care) and she is trying to make up an excuse for her behavior. She and Ben broke up in January 2004 and she married Marc in June 2004 and she took Marc’s name.

I know how she felt, when my boyfriend & I broke up 20 years ago in fact we were dating around the time when Jen & Ben were a big deal….when he & I broke up I felt like I was gonna die. I couldn’t even eat I spent months crying like somebody had died…! I eventually got over it but I never forgot him & what could’ve been. When you lose that special person it’s painful

I've loved Jennifer since 1997, so she holds a very special place in my heart. I always knew that she and Ben were meant to be together. I had never seen them happier when they were together the first time, which didn't make sense to me that they were breaking up. They both moved on to other relationships quickly after their break up. which means those relationships were rebounds. I'm glad they both found each other again and I truly believe it will last.

Even though she was married when she met him and then married Marc, I think she is being 100% honest. My 1st adult heartbreak was excruciating. I wasn’t like her though. I stayed very single for 5 years and the 6th, I forced myself to move forward and then I got engaged, but 2-3 months b4 my wedding- I couldn’t get him out of my head so I called it off. It wasn’t until I met my hubs when I finally healed but it was tough.

Yeah, and didn’t she say that the split from Marc Anthony was the greatest heartbreak of her life? She is in love with the fantasy of love. After reality kicks in and he starts drinking again, she’ll hook up with another backup dancer. Wish he would use her relationships to promote her work.

And years later he probably realised he let a good thing go. A lot of men make this type of mistakes because they want to be free to sleep around. @@lylablueabdul5503 - maybe she was just trying to "go along to get along" but always found some issue that wasn't working in these other relationships. She once said that she had to go to therapy to deal with herself, so while I do agree that she has called other guys her true love, I think she was just putting a band aide on the loss of that relationship with Ben. I believe everyone has that one person who they can't get over...for her it was Ben.

@@alinechance7650 - We love who we love...there are plenty of people in the world who will never admit that they settled for someone, but never really got over someone else...it's a sad reality that their are plenty of marriages of convenience and/or settling, or arrangements, but if those people had their way, they'd be with the person they never got over. I've heard this story a thousands times in real life, except that those people did not find their way back to each other like Jen and Ben.

For folks who already knows about this, it was OBVIOUS from the jump that Ben was always for her. That's why when people complain or joke or confused about her marriages or who she's been with, they really don't understand or know their history. It wasn't shocking to me. I knew what that was all about. B.E.N. Just be happy. That's why This Is Me Then is her BEST, because she was involved. I hope Cory Rooney is involved in some of this new album.

Two of her marriages were before Ben, lol. And she said in 2002 in the Oprah Winfrey Show that she has had a lot of relationships, so even before Ben she was in the habit of hopping from man to man. So it has nothing to do with Ben, she is just like that.

After 22 years apart, and trying endlessly to " get over him" I finally accepted that I wasn't going to. So I decided to embrace it. My dear Diary became Dear *****. My love for him is my greatest treasure. I discovered I am capable of unconditional love. I pray for his health, his happiness and for love to fill his life and his heart. He's moved on and I respect that. Seems weird maybe, but my love for him didn't die because he chooses to not have me in his life. Maybe now I can move on too, here's hoping...

She literally married somebody else like 2 months later. I think they're just really glamorizing their relationship now that they're back together. They have to like make all of the really painful parts make sense. But I would put good money on the fact that these guys are twin flames versus machine gun Kelly and Megan fox. This way more feels like a true twin flame relationship.

@randomlady6899, you know, Jennifer really was so into Ben back in the day. And even Ben was into her. However back then, the culture was not as welcoming about this relationship so much. After that relationship, her eyes looked sad for a very long time. Yes, she did like the others. But her heart had chosen someone she couldn’t be with totally back then, and she needed to move on. I hope Ben does not mess up. It looks like if there’s going to be a problem in the relationship, it seems it will come from Ben.

Yeah I knew she was in love with Ben when she married Marc Anthony only 9 months after their breakup. She never looked so happy with anybody else after that. Marc on the other hand divorced his wife and left his boys to be with her.

Not 9 months between Ben and Marc. She and Ben ended their relationship in January 2004 and she married Marc in June 2004, that’s not 9 months. Marc Anthony was still married when she slept with him, so if he hadn’t been married, it would have been even sooner. They first had to ditch his wife. She didn’t care about the hurt she caused to Marc’s wife when she slept with her husband. And she and Marc threatened his wife to not talk to the press to tell what JLo and Marc did to her, the cheaters.

She talks about making an album to chronicle this phase in her life bc of the love her and Ben share. But she also said that when she turned 50 about her relationship with Arod. I also remember her saying she neber had anyone in her life that lets her be her and lets her shine the way Arod did. So yea. I dont believe it will last either
