Joby can work. The concept of propulsion and battery is realistic. Total nonsense is Lilium. Lilium EDF can't work and the financial losses will be horrific. The Airbus Vahana has a good chance to. Joby uses tilt propellers which is a proven succes. All the best!

What would be the initial directions/guidance to get certified to fly these? Heli Certification? Hopefully they can be fitted towards family autonomy rather than further commercialization of transport/travel.

I wud choose opener's blackfly coz it s much safer, cheapest, doesnt need pilot license etc. Blackfly just need much better battery pack for much longer distance

I wonder how silient they can get this. Imagine being in a city full of electric cars and in you glance up you see dozens of these doing their flights. Might source installed noise cancelling work?

Can this aircraft glide at all? Although it has redundant individual motors and batteries, a failure of several props could be a problem/ Some small aircraft like this have parachutes but that might not work in this instance because of the rotor blades.

🤔well that might be a 1 in a million chances for such a thing to happen how do u think so many propellers fail well i don't think if u really maintain it well until some natural thing happens but highly unlikely

Would have been great if it was possible to autorotate, it got no redundancy for loss of electricity which is not very likley but still.

In transition, yes likely a higher risk factor if all power lost. But in forward flight, unlike a helicopter, loss of all power would be like an emergency landing in a conventional airplane: glide to a selected touchdown point.

They say it will work as with helicopters. We are far from having congestion in the skies, and a 3D system has its advantages, but it’s definitely somethings that at some point will happen.

i gotta a question, the problem is JOBY do not have any plans of being autonomy aircrafts right?, while ehang, volocopter, Archer, Lilium and other have plans (or already doing)

Every company knows that in the future eVTOLs will be autonomous. The reason they put a pilot is because they want to go to market first, regulators won’t allow autonomous aircraft any time soon. Joby has a team working in autonomy. If anything, Joby will be gathering real data before anyone else.

Only the rich and famous can afford to buy evtol aircrafts. It will never be the answer to rush hours traffic to average people who can not even buy brand new cars. When it reach the point when there are numerous evtols flying and criscrossing the skies especially above urban areas, safety will definitely be the issue.

@@eVTOLinnovation That's good but what I'm trying to say is that with the introduction of evtol aircrafts and it's eventual availability soon which caters only to those who can afford the on demand service by now and time will come it will be affordable to everyone because of competition and high demand, I can see flying cars falling down to people below. Sorry I'm just imagining the worsts case scenario in the future.

Please stop pushing environment your machine is going to make it or it's not. All your environmental thinking and solving pretty much goes out of the window with one volcano erupting. Just build a product if it's feasible if people want it you'll sell it.
