Actually it costs 192K not 92K. Never listen to these early nonsense predictions of cost. Indeed one can get a real airplane for the cost of this toy.

How long does it take to fully charge and what happens if you lose all power when flying? Can it charge up as fast as it takes to refuel a regular airplane? Can it glide? If you're going to tell us how impressive the engineering is, you should probably answer these basic and obvious questions.

One day they will be affordable when the prices come down. Competition will bring the price down, especially if the Chinese steal the technology and build one that anyone can afford. This would be an incredible toy to explore backcountry and some remote spots to fly around for a short flight time.

Total nonsense, it will never fly commercially except for 3min without passengers or cargo as investor fraud. EDF is the worst of all possibilities. More than 10 years of lies and misinformation.

Zero redundancy in the motors will never be accepted, unfortunately evtol designs are limited in safety because they dont glide like helicopters or planes do when crashing, evtols just drop put of the sky when a motor fails (effectively) 😅 This can be solved by incorporating another 4 motors, but these extra 4 motors cut down on flight time, which limits use... and this is the wall the industry is up against 😅

The question is, is, why are they suing the Chinese for the same thing? This is just slow these people down from success and beating them to the market.

My 2 cents worth, I like the aircraft. But there are a lot of things wrong here. First they are always receiving millions of dollars of investments and not producing a passenger carrying vehicle. Also ducted fans that small are neither efficient or powerful and they scream loudly. I hope i am wrong but musk is going into orbit faster then they can get into the air. Whats going to happen is they will go broke and some one will buy the company with out all the overhead and then sell it at a decent price. Time will tell

The map shows Santa Monica airport, LAX, downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood and John Wayne airport. Hardly a wide coverage. As for the motor out, you need to balance it laterally by shutting down the opposite motor. The S2 had four motors across each side, making a loss of one main wing motor go to 75% which is valid. The S4 with only two motors each side makes it not valid. The folding props with cruise props on the s2 shows they don't understand the problem, just like the x-57 failed to understand. This Joby tech fails to get the aero correct. The correct solution alludes them... Their props are very expensive and did cause an in flight break up. Very poor design and very costly. Yes, different RPM...NASA did that on the x-57. Old idea. New combustion tech will allow $100,000 craft with 5 place for real air taxi.

ALL, yes ALL, of these "eVTOLs" will go bankrupt. They all failed to understand the problem and the business model is silly in the extreme. New distributed combustion tech makes ALL EV tech (car, airplane, boats, houses) obsolete. It is 60% at pull power and 75% in cruise. 3 HP/LB at motor. EV motor + battery is 0.25 HP/LB... Active Drag Reduction (1/2) enabled by engines, not with EVs. The drag can be up to 8 times less than EV craft. Door to door is key. All eVTOLs cannot afford the weight to be roadable like this combustion tech can. 0 to 360 mph. 125 gallons gives 15,000 mile range at 120 mph, 3750 miles at 240 miles, 2400 miles at 300 mph, 1666 miles at 360 MPH. No EV can come close by 100:1. CO2 is 200 times less with RE fuels vs a 100% RE grid. On gasoline it is 3-4 times less CO2 than an EV. Just a friendly hint. Heads up. You will lose all investment into eVTOLs.

The long flight mentioned was impressive, compared to other battery-electric drones; however, in that flight the aircraft was not carrying a payload, or even a pilot. Joby calls it an "air taxi", but how useful is a taxi which can't carry any passengers... it's not a taxi at all.

Just use centrifugal fan with adjustable nozzle-intake casing. Less fatigue. Better efficiency in horizontal flight. Overall cheaper. Patent free. But still less efficient than open blade rotor.

Really sound idea but vertical take off is very wasteful of the energy required for lift and flying. Short take off and landing would be the better way to pursue this new and exciting form of powered flight.
