I actually thought to myself that Miami will be a test for Red Bulls Japan update of its' sidepod. Remember, Red Bull delayed that update for Japan where it was cooler. Imola long term forecast for race weekend, around 75F, 24C.

@@Vislow It’s not as simple as that…. You could have a car win every race by 0.01 of a second or a car win 15 races by 20 seconds. Which is the most dominant ?? Miami was an enigma with the safety car not even needed and picking up Max and not Lando giving Lando a huge advantage while pitting. Good on Lando getting a win he should have had by now but in Imola Max will run away with the race and everyone will be back to scratching their heads and typically moaning. 👍👍

I'll believe it when I see it. All the talks about managing, damages etc. Personally, I'm choosing to believe Max who, during the race was saying he didn't feel any change and at that day and in those circumstances was simply slower....

Just one race before in China, Max was driving circles around mclaren and ferarri lol. After his first stint, he pit and then within a few laps was already past all drivers, creating massive gaps and going for a 2 stop for fun while Mclaren and ferarri were going to drag their cars to a one stop. If it wasnt for SC putting everyone on same strat in China Max wouldve won by probably 30-50 seconds with an extra pit stop.

I think the next few races will give us a better understanding whether the upgrades are actually the real deal. If both Ferrari and McClaren are actually that good we’ll see the results. I don’t put too much weight on just one race. We need to see consistency first before getting amped for upgrades.

Max complaints have been about the cars ability to turn not the braking performance which is on-par with the Ferrari. That car has been a dog to drive since the season started but it is fast. None of this was there when they were wining and testing. We will see but I think the teams closing in is forcing their hand. They still have a winning car but the gap to what they can afford to do is shrinking.

Looking at the highlights before Max hit the bollard there was only a 3-4 second gap between him and Oscar after 20 laps, and Oscar didn't even get the full upgrades. On lap 4 Oscar also overtook Leclerc on pure pace too. Then around lap 25 on used tyres Norris pumps the fastest lap in, this is with the other drivers with fresh hard tyres on. They say Ferrari will bring in McLaren type upgrades for Imola which could give them 0.4secs per lap. There is likely to be a race at Imola, even if Max wins he will be rattled!

@@stableianF1oracle Hmm yeah the bollard he crashed into wasn't about the Fia being strict with the tracks it was to help drivers see their braking zone. Rattled because Oscar was pressing him and Leclerc pitted. Also, bottled it in the rain. Clear air driver!

Not accurate. Neither RedBull nor Ferrari had hit Their marks on set-up. And the Pirelli's on a slick street surface did not help. Max had too much rear wing to the extent that Checo had 7km/h more top speed. The car would not turn because of too much rear wing. That ran the front tires right off of the nose. McLaren and Ferrari are NOWHERE at Imola. That's what the truth is.....

I don't think we'll see a drop in RB dominance until the new regs, hopefully we may get some closer races but I'd definitely put money on Max for this and next year's titles and I'm a Lewis fan so I've really had to choke that out 😂.

As a ferrari fan, I'm staying quite optimistic and think a win is definitely possible. Will be interesting to see if the upgrades work. Hopefully, they also do a proper tribute to Senna and Ratzenberger.

Ferrari doesn't do upgrades, they do updates. More often than not they tend not to work or make it worse. The only team where updates are actual upgrades is RB, the king of in-season development.

I'm frustrated with you and your revelation about that safety car. Mostly because I believe you to be correct and it's very disappointing. I do believe McLaren had the pace though and if that safety car hadn't damaged Piastri's race in the same way it helped Lando's it would have been Oscar fighting for the win. Max will win Imola but that, in isolation, doesn't prove to me that McLaren's win in Miami will be the one and only win this year.

I understand the British annoyance with the RB/Max dominance. I felt the same during the Merc/Hamilton dominance period. I guess that is just what F1 is about. As a dutch F1 fan I love this period and hated the Merc/Ham period. I understand the feelings of the British F1 fans in the current era

as a lewis fan i’m more mad that lewis has had to drive tractors for 3 years where as his title rival for 21 has dominated while Lewis is fighting Yuki Tsunoda or Nico Hulkenberg for a 7th place. I’m more annoyed at Toto and Mercedes realizing this isn’t 2014 where you have ‘unlimited spending’ and the ‘split turbo concept’. If Lewis was staying at Merc i would call for Toto to step down because he doesn’t seem to know what he’s doing in this new rule change but i understand without Niki Lauda he doesn’t have that guide anymore

@JudgeYuri Although I’m sure there are British fans who want to see the end of RB dominance, I’d wager a lot of long term British F1 fans are OK to see the RB win or be on the podium as they tend to follow teams not drivers. To this end although UK fans might have McLaren, Mercedes, Aston Martin, Williams, Alpine or of course Red Bull as their favourite team, all the others are British designed and built cars so there isn’t that tribal fighting between fans that is seen in sports like football. I totally understand it’s different if you are Dutch because Max is your guy and there are no other options people would realistically follow but as I outlined, F1 is seen as a constructors and not a drivers series here which is why it’s a bit of a mystery why there is so much hostility between Verstappen and Hamilton fans (wherever they come from). Just wish everyone could respect all the teams and drivers no matter which car is dominant.

You can't be blamed there Cam, you are absolutely right. When Max does not win because of the team not getting the set-up right or external hindrances (like the safety car messing up his race as happened in Miami), he is hell-bent on crushing the competition next race. Normal service resumes in Imola, lapping the entire field is the minimum Max requires.

Ferrari is not bringing a 0.5 gap to Imola. That sort of thing simply doesn't happen in F1 in a single upgrade or usually even a season. Utter nonsense. RB20? Perez isn't dominating in the RB20. It's Max. A very talented driver in a very good car.

Maybe Red Bull have turned their engines down. Oscar's fastest lap of the race was over a second slower than Max's time last year. Maybe F1 are trying to put on a show?

Not used to you trying to cast gloom and doom without actual data. Maxs Delta wasn't close to Lando the moment Landon got clean air. Lando was faster than Max from before VSC on. Hearing someone say RedBull turned their engine down means they had to. When they turn it up it'll put more stress on the design. Stop being the rain Cam, someone saying trust me bro doesn't negate the delta we saw with our own eyes last weekend. Including Charles being .1 behind Max. BEFORE floor damage

I still think Max and Red Bull will win the drivers and constructors titles this year. However, if Ferrari and McLaren can fight with Red Bull on MOST tracks this year, we might have a true title fight in 2025, since it seems like Red Bull has reached the point of diminishing returns...

We have seen before what happens if Max is taunted. And when the F1 talking-heads start to murmur that "this is the end" and "Max is washed", then the lion really awakens.
