I respect the hell out of that tbh. SO many musicians, especially the female pop star variety, are under SO much pressure to stay in the spotlight, have every single be a hit, and not take any breaks for fear someone younger and prettier and more marketable will steal your spot. Only a few of them seem to have that kind of staying power, and even then they can't or won't do it forever. Better to understand your limits as an artist, and be happy you had A Moment when you were on top of the world, and move on to different things or just bow out at your peak. Sadly the machine™ and men in suits don't seem to feel that way, to the detriment of many.

Honestly it’s a shame what happened to Nelly. She was such a talented and beautiful lady and she really made my childhood. I’m glad she’s well now and I find it very respectable that she was able to seek her music career and care for her child at the same time because god knows how much stress that would do to even just do one. Nelly will remain an iconic singer and I hope she makes a return soon 💕

Nelly used to be one of my favorite artists and weirdly enough this video showed me some of what I saw in her. I think a lot of celebrities lose their identity when they're in the spotlight and many never recover or if they recover it's years later after Rehab, Alcoholics Anonymous, and/or a very public showing of them hitting rock bottom. Nelly didn't do that. She had the identity crisis that the bright lights bring, did some soul searching and said "No! This isn't me and I won't let myself become this person!" She'd rather be scrubbing toilets and caring for her Daughter than being on a stage in front of thousands of people and that is a GOOD thing. I wish more people had that kind of inner strength. Good on her.
