Nicole Sherzinger rose to international pop stardom as the front woman of the Pussycat Dolls, Nicole always wanted to be a solo artist and she saw the Pussy Cat Dolls as the perfect opportunity to launch her career. Unfortunately, it didn’t exactly go as planned.

She has the looks and the talent but that doesn't do anything for you when there is no artistic direction or identity. For example, Rihanna is not the best vocalist/performer but the way she knows how to be different and stands out amongst the greatest is the "it" factor that makes a star.
@agnetafelicia5961

This is the answer. I never saw the artist, the expression in her, rather a good reproduction, a decent presentation. I think she just enjoys pure attention and a good vocal workout (plus the g-list celeb status) and that's it. You don't have to write your own songs to be an artist, but you need to know what to show. You put it so neatly tbh

I think that when Jlo started her singing career she was already famous (Anaconda and Selena) + Tommy Mottola really pushed her career and wanted her to succeed. I don't want to sound mean or discredit Jlo, but I think that her relationships also played a huge role on her becoming so famous and big. From Diddy, to his dancer (that was big news back then), Ben Affleck, Mark Anthony: those high status relationships (specially the ones with Diddy and Ben) helped her to always been talked and being on the tabloids, and publicity is always welcomed when it comes to establishing your career. Nicole lacked more production, and support from her label. She had the looks and I think she even dated Lewis Hamilton (he's very famous on sports). However her solo career never took off. I think it has a lot to do with her solo music not being so good.

If the pussycat dolls would of been fair and allowed all the members to shine, I believe her solo career would of took off. The group made her appear self serving and all about herself. Plus she was already the leader so in a way we expected her solo work as well to match the PCD vibe. However she went a different path and I believe that's what hurt her in the long run. People just didn't get it. on top of the diva rumor and not having stand out hits. Now in europe she actually did very well solo wise. just not so much in the states. But I'm glad she has shined in many different areas not just singing. She won dancing with the stars a british talent show, shes a judge, has done broadway and even got to sing with the broadway leads from phantom of the opera. The girl is a winner! I honest to God just think some girls have it and others don't. It's not just talent, you need somebody who believes in and is willing to invest in you. With the exception of Diana Ross and Beyoncé, I can think of very few women who left girl groups to great solo success. If Diana Ross birthed a mold, Beyoncé followed it to a T and nobody else quite has since.

Nicole was like the "guest starring celebrity" turned " headlining recording artist of the group" except not too many people knew nicole yet . my point is that is why they built the entire vocal scheme around her voice. when they performed in the lounge with a live singing recording artist only she was the one singing and everyone else was dancing around her. its the burlesque stage plot turned into a music group.

1. she played doll domination for the girls because most of the songs were from her failed solo album. 2. They were supposed to Asia was supposed to start a new direction for the group. 3. The reason Nicole was pushed to the front is her manager was their manager, which created a conflict of interest. She was able to work out extra perks, like having her bus and built-in studio. 4. There were originally supposed to be 12 members in the group. The only girl hired as a background dancer that made the final 6 was Kimberly. Melody and Carmit we're supposed to sing lead and Jessica and Ashley we're background singers. 4. They about to be called “The Pussycat Dolls featuring Nicole” but the other girls said No and refused to resign for another album. 5. Melody recorded solo songs with Timberland, for example “painted windows “, but it was recorded with Nicole on lead. And Melody doing the bridge. With Ashley, Kimberly, and Jessica singing the harmony.

In my opinion the proplem with American bands is that they only had to make albums as a band (In general not just for PCD). They could also release their solo albums in between which would make the group go longer. The thing i like in the Korean industry is that they have a freedom to release solo mixtapes or collabs with other other artists or unit songs within the group which make everyone more happier and they dont get bored with each other this way. I think it is a perfect way to satisfy each member and make the group healthier. It would also work with American bands as well. Because after some time the people who get more attantion want to go solo and shine alone which becomes a problem.
@naimahal-azeez1728
@naimahal-azeez1728 9 ай бұрын
I have to disagree on it working with American bands because it actually doesn't work if the band is still going. Nicole did try to make a solo album called "Her Name is Nicole" in which she released 4 singles, including Baby Love. This was supposed to be released before the 2nd PCD álbum, but the singles all failed in the US, causing Nicole to shelve the project. Why? The public wanted PCD, not her. The same thing happened with Next (the r&b group, not the k-pop group). Group member RL released a solo album while he was in the group which had 2 hit singles, but the album flopped because the public wanted Next, not him. Lisa from TLC released her solo album Supernova while she was still in the group, but it failed oversees and didn't even get a promotion in the US. Why? Same problem. Fans wanted TLC, not her. There are some exceptions, like Sisqo from Dru Hill (though his 2nd solo album failed due to his 2 singles failing) and Beyonce from Destiny's Child. For the most part, however, American band members that try to have solo careers while still being in a group doesn't work. It works in Korea, but for some reason it doesn't work in the States.

She failed because her reputation was tarnished by her own actions. Throughout the Dolls era, there were so many rumours that she was mean to the other members and it was quite obvious in the songs and videos that she was "stealing the shine" - so when the public saw her go solo, they not only had the resentment of her breaking the group they loved up, but also the expectation placed on her to walk the walk.... and that expectation was just too much to live up to (+ your reputation being torn) - it just makes for an uphill battle.

Melody Thornton and Carmit Bachar sang backing vocals too, with Melody showing her vocals occasionally on a few songs, Nicole didn’t do all the backings alone That’s why Melody never came back, they never gave her a chance when she was the only vocalist that wasn’t a dancer, but she did really well with the choreo she was taught. Ashley and Jessica would also sing the backing sometimes
