Telescopes are the instruments that have helped us the most to learn more about our universe. Hubble telescope has a great place among them. The main advantage Hubble had over other telescopes was that it was a space telescope. It can view the universe from space without the disturbance caused by Earth's atmosphere.
The Hubble telescope is located only 500 km above the earth, while the James Webb telescope is located at a distance of 15 lakh km from the earth. That means the James Webb Telescope is about five times the distance from Earth to the Moon.
So a question that naturally comes to mind is if we can get a telescope this far, why haven't we put a telescope on the moon yet?
The moon is the perfect place to put a telescope. One is that the moon does not have an atmosphere, so the disturbance caused by the atmosphere does not occur on the moon.
Second, placing a telescope on the moon is more convenient than placing a telescope anywhere in space. Because the base of the telescope placed on the moon can be firmly fixed on the moon, this way everything will be very easy to hold the telescope steady and rotate it when necessary. And for observations using radio waves of certain wavelengths, there is no better place in the solar system than the Moon.
Why haven't we put a telescope on the moon so far despite all these advantages?
