I'm a playstation person and i would do pc but its alot of money, and i think thats the main reason why alot of gamers are stuck on console.

I love PC gaming, the benefits are huge! I love the high end first party exclusive on the consoles, they're fantastic and I love them. The only real downside is the popularity of cheating in highly competitive games. On console, aimbotters and wallhacks don't exist this generation, except when there's PC crossplay

Mod support is one of my favorite reasons for loving PC gaming. Can't get that on console, with the exception of Fallout 4 and Skyrim Special Edition.

For me with a laptop, some games can't run on it. Actually a lot of games. So I use my Xbox for those and my laptop for the weaker ones. So I need both of them. And this is why I like how Doom Eternal gives a tiny auto-aim when using the heavy-cannon persicion bolt on weak-points. It's great.

PC is basically the platform for people who want to spend less or more. You can spend 300 dollars for an entry level second hand PC with a quad core and entry level card or the most OP rig ever for an absurd amount.

Consoles are all about comfort and fast setup. PCs are all about accuracy while aiming and in-game customization(settings and mods). You can use a PC as a console but you can't use a console as a PC. That's why I chose the PC in the end... You can do anything on it.

I'm a console gamer who started playing on PC lately. I do agree with most of your argument, but I have to admit that there're some issues I have with PC gaming. Knowing how to customize your PC experience to your liking can be somewhat overwhelming for newcomers like myself. For example, adjusting the contrast of your game via third party software may be child's play for you, but for some people this may not be apparent and can get complicated very easily. Also, installing mods is fun and all, but again, if you don't know how to install a mod and you don't have the patience to read the mod description, you could end up screwing up your game and having to re-install it (I know that this is a somewhat extreme scenario, but plausible nonetheless). Another point of contention is that while I do agree that aiming with the mouse is far better than doing so with thumbsticks, the keyboard buttons will need you to get used to them. Simply because there are just too many buttons that don't get used in the game. So, you end up hitting Z instead of X for example even though no action is even asigned to Z. On the other hand, controllers have all their buttons stacked together in a way that makes it hard for the player to miss pressing the intended button. However, this can be mitigated by playing games with a controller on PC, so I will admit that this isn't a huge issue. All in all, while consoles have more limitations and restrictions, they are great cookie-cutter systems that provide a decent experience in a "safe environment" for someone who isn't well-versed in the inner workings of said system. On the flipside, PC's provide you with much... much... MUCH more freedom, but the entry level to PC gaming is somewhat higher. Not impossible, but quite high when compared to console gaming.

I'm a console player and have barely played any PC games (CS:GO, WAW, Gmod, etc.) And I agree that PC is better. I am so excited to finally be able to afford all the necessary parts to build my own PC and be able to play my favourite games at a way higher frame rate.

You know I've been debating the past few days that I need to finally make the switch to PC (back in my childhood I used to own a good PC and a PS one), fast forward to this generation of consoles where I've put thousands of hours into many games (mainly fps) and seeing the major difference in performance, graphics, customization, fov, fps etc.. really makes me wish that I should've built myself a PC a long time ago. I kept convincing myself that it isn't needed & the fact is like mayo said if you are a casual person who doesn't invest heavily in games and doesn't care about all of those aspects then a console would do fine by you, but honestly I am a casual gamer but a person who does dedicate a lot of times on games so a proper gaming PC is the right choice. Regardless of how the ps5 or the new Xbox pans out, this year I am gonna go all out and buy a freaking NASA pc, play my childhood games like quake & doom with those amazing graphical mods, and finally play the new games on a 4k monitor with 120 fps, gotta check a couple of vids on the best PC components & go shopping for them before this year ends.

I agree with every point in this video, and I just recently purchased a PC myself so I can finally say I “understand” now. But one HUGE contention with PC gaming is there is a pretty big barrier of entrance to get into PC gaming. Everyone always says “just build your own, it’s so easy” but not everyone has the time to source parts, watch YT videos, and successfully complete a build. While cheaper builds can still yield some incredible results, consoles have always been a far easier and more accessible way to game. And when prebuilts start getting thrown around, the average prebuilt is going to be ripping the customer off so hard. So I think the biggest reason why consoles will always remain a great option is just how easy and accessible they are despite all of the performance and capability setbacks.

This 4:45 can also be done with nvidia freestyle,i use it in almost every game i play and its just fantastic!

Reason why PC gaming is profitable: Microsoft went back to releasing games in Xbox and PC. Which honestly makes the Developers more money than console Exlcusivity does. I'm a PC/Xbox guy myself. I used to be a PlayStation guy but got tired of games being re-released on the next Gen console and seen as "an entirely different game" because "graphical fedelity improvement/Frames per second boost" for $30 when xbox/PC gamers can easily play a game without emulation and get the Original Release version of a gaame running at 60fps on their new hardware better than Sony does.

I like Nintendo exclusives so I play on console, also I feel like keyboards kinda induce hand pains on me. I wish that I could have the ability to weapon switch without a wheel and change aiming stick sensitivity on the fly, I feel like it wouldn't be incredibly hard to do that, you just need to have a couple extra buttons on the control.

I definitely agree aiming with a mouse instead of thumbstick is way better in Doom. First of all, maximum sensitivity still has me rotating 360 degrees once every 2 seconds, which makes it really hard to quickly turn around and shoot the thing behind me, and Ballista jumping is literally impossible. Weapon switching is decent, because even if im forced to use the weapon wheel its easier to access and use, plus i get a moment to breathe and pick what weapon i want to use

I really like the emulation point a few years ago my ps2 died and there was so many games I wanted to play then my brother showed my emulators and I was able to play my favourite games at 4K 60 especially underground 2

I shifted from console to pc specifically to play older games. There are so many games of the 90s to late 00s that I have loved, and some of them I have missed, Halo being a big example because I have never owned an Xbox. So to play these games at quick loading times and higher fps made the switch worth for me.

I've played video games for over 20 years now and I was a console only gamer for 19 of those years. This last year of PC gaming has changed the way I look at gaming. I always chose console because it was what my friends chose, but now I'm a bit older and I enjoy gaming for a few hours when I get home from work and don't really want to grind out pvp games as much anymore. PC is just flat out better. It's not just graphics, but the ease of use, load times, key bindings, customization, comfort and the list goes on. Even if I wanna just plop down on the couch, all I have to do is hit the button on my hdmi splitter and I can play on my TV. And another thing people often don't consider about gaming PCs is that they are also great computers for doing everything else other than gaming lol. I work on my computer doing photo, video and design jobs all the time and its a dream to work on. You do anything with a good computer so why not also play games on it too?

I see your points, but I still think your argument is a bit onesided. I also love to play on my PC and the big reasons for why I got into it are framerate, loadtimes and backward compatibility for most of my games when I upgrade my components. But, there is a place for consoles - in my livingroom for couch-multiplayer exactly like Mortal Kombat. And there's also a place for gamepads because of their versatility accross different genres - and call me crazy, but there are certain First Person Shooters where I prefer the feeling of pulling a trigger and getting the vibration feedback over the intuitive precision of a mouse. And sometimes I also prefer the simple button-layout and weapon-wheel of a gamepad over excessive keyboard-key-configuration that gives my hands cramps. I just bought an Xbox One X for 280€ in order to play Doom Eternal on my OLED at near 4K resolution with HDR, and it looks gorgeous and runs silky smooth. Will I be able to beat it on Nightmare? No, I won't. Did I have a blast playing it? Absolutely.

You explained the issue with thumbstick sensitivity pretty well. I've got pretty used to both MKB and Controller set ups. and after playing various games at 30, 60, and 120+ FPS - I concluded that the response time you get from the added frames helps a lot whether your playing controller or MKB, obviously if you are playing a competitive multiplayer shooter, go with mouse and keyboard or you will get your ass handed to you. The thing I notice that some games control sensitivity is getting better at is having some acceleration in how fast it should move based on your pressure you put on the stick. Exclusive shooters like Last of Us for PlayStation feels great on the controller and that's one exception, but for the most part your point still stands because most of the best games out there on console are both capped at 30 FPS and have some ridiculous aim assist that is almost required to get a good shot. The only real thing I really miss from using my keyboard and mouse is the vibration and haptic feedback I get from some games. PS5 Controller is definitely one of my favorite choices lol.

The only reason I prefer a console today is physical discs. I prefer to have an actual physical disc than digital. Once gaming goes fully digital I'm pretty much done with gaming. I almost am now due to the industry's shitty business practices.

The funniest part about all of this is that the PC version of REmake 2 has intrinsic mouse acceleration that can't be turned off (thanks Crapcom) because internally the mouse is emulating stick movement, yet it's still way fucking easier to aim with a mouse than with an analog stick.

I think it matters more about what your comfortable with and what you are good at Ok god with controller, but I stuck when I pick up a mouse... I know you can use controller to but I just don’t have the money for a pc

I started playing on consoles, but I’m a dota player, so for me pc is the way In the end play on what you like, but I love that I can pic my laptop and controller go in a trip and can play a match of FIFA or som other games , something that I can’t do with the consoles, well you can, if you carry the tv with you:)))

You did not mention that you can actually use a controller for MK. It's surprising how a lot of people are not aware you can do that.

I think the aiming can be fixed by implementing optional gyro aiming. Splatoon 2 uses Gyro Aiming and it works great, and that's Multiplayer Shooter.

I am a console guy who went PC for the simple reason of price and what I can get for my money. I work on my PC as well, so that's another notch. The console lost it's flavor with me when PS4 and XBOX One came out. My friend had both and I was less than impressed with them. Also, there are rumors that PS5 will be the last PS Sony will make. Which makes sense. Hardware is hard to keep going. Sega dropped out and they're doing decently well. The only ones who are not feeling hardward pressure is Nintendo. I'd love to play God of War on PC.

If you have and Nvidia video card and have the Nvidia Geforce Experience (the program that runs Shadowplay), most modern games allow an official Nvidia equivalent to Reshade to run by default. It's called Nvidia Freestyle. By default you press Alt + F3 and you can even make 3 different hot-swappable presets. I used it to make the overly bright nights in Red Dead 2 more naturally dark with the contrast modifier. It does seem to have less effects than Reshade though, but it has the essentials, like Sharpness, Color, and Shadow adjustments. The exception is that new games using Vulkan instead of DirectX 12 don't support it, at least not yet.

I’ve noticed that in games like Titanfall 2 I can compete with pc players on my little Xbox because of practice and skill. I’ve been able to outperform several of my friends who’ve switched to pc. So I fee that although controllers aren’t as accurate, a good player can make up the difference

I am a pc person but xbox implementing limited keyboard and mouse support could be a good thing to help even the playing field. plus xbox has almost full backwards compatibility with their older consoles and it lets you use your old consoles, it is probably because Microsoft is also a pc company, but xbox seems to have a lot of stuff to compete with pc

Controller with motion aiming using gyro bridges that gap between a controller and a mouse, it allows those quick flicks and turns.

As someone who used to play only on console, I never really cared for the tighter controls or FOV (still kinda don't), it was the massive library of games and the modding potential for games that drew me in. I used to play a lot of vanilla skyrim, but I don't think I could ever go back to it. Honestly the only reason I still play a lot of console is because that's what my friends have

My pc is made of 2010 hardware and most console ports run very good. Console limitations is sometimes good, it forces developers to optimize their games compared to what most pc developers crap these days.

Frame rate is huge, playing gta5 with 30fps or less on Xbox sucks. But after seeing it at 144 on pc it there really is no going back.

One thing I haven’t seen many people mention for aiming in shooters is gyro aiming. Being the broke boy I am, I have Doom Eternal on Switch (which is a surprisingly good port btw) and I decided to try turning on gyro aiming. Essentially, you still aim with right stick for large movements, but tilt the controller for more fine tuned movements. This works FANTASTIC. I’ve always been pretty awful at shooters, but with this setup I can consistently use Precision Bolt on console. In addition, I can turn up the stick sensitivity much higher, because small movements are controlled by gyro. I think most people ignore this feature because right now it only seems like Nintendo is focusing on it, but hopefully Sony eventually allows the option for more people to try it.

Hey mayo I play alittle on both pc and Xbox and I have to say, for a long time I've heard people complain about platforming in games like half life and now doom eternal. Never understood platform complaints in fps games even doom eternal on the Xbox one x. As soon as I started playing half life for the first time on pc I understand why pc players don't like platforming. You can't tip toe to the edge of a surface or walk very slowly(on keyboard that is) and on a controler you can. I absolutely love platforming in doom eternal. Wouldn't mind there being more of it in a sequel but its the one reason I really don't want to try the new dooms with a keyboard. Am I insane or do I just need some practice?

If i had money for a beefy pc, i'd only be playing on my ps4 for the exclusives, i honestly want to play on pc more but, well... the hardware is pretty expensive

Bethesda should release a special Doom: Eternal controller for consoles, which has a separate button for each weapon (allowing for easier weapon switching). They did this with the original Doom on the Atari Jaguar and it was a really good idea.

I’ve been playing console doom eternal on 100 sensitivity and I’ve been working on quick swapping with precision bolt. You definitely can do that kind of stuff on a controller, but it’s just way harder

I want to make the switch to PC because of all of Mayo's reasons and the fact that on PC you don't have to pay for online and you don't have to pay a few hundred dollars everytime a new console comes out. We do have a computer in my house with one of the best CPUs you can buy. But the graphics card isn't as good. and I can't play all the games since it's Linux

I can tell you ia was a big Xbox fan. And I played Xbox for 8 years. And some friends made me buy a PC finally and once I played some games specially shooters and I never came back and played Xbox or ps4 like before.

problem with analog sticks is having point of minimum and maximum acceleration too close to each other, obviously you can master it but you still gona have less controll over your aim than with mouse where you can move your crosshair by 1 pixel or make a fast 360 by hand swing.

I use nvidia Freestyle to help reshade all the games that I feel look so washed out and add extra sharpness and details to everything

I used to play on Pc when I was a kid and finally built my first gaming Pc 2 years ago. I always loved Pc gaming but due to time and money I always picked console. Both are great they both have exclusive games on each platform I love so I can’t really say which one is better gas PC is better and performance and graphics that yes. But If I had to chose 1 dam that is though I don’t know honestly I might say PlayStation but I love Pc to.

I have played games on mid-low end laptops only with gpu like Nvidia 940MX because i couldn't afford a mid-high end pc. Now I have saved USD 550-600. My question is: Should i keep saving till I have around USD 700-750 for a fine PC build or buy PS5/XBOX Series X when they launch ?

I tried getting good with M&K when Call of Duty started having M&K support on console. I got pretty good at aiming with a mouse but I was never comfortable with using the keyboard to move. But that’s another advantage of PC. You can still use a controller if that’s what you prefer. Pro controllers that have paddles help with restrictions that controllers have. With DOOM Eternal I have a Scuf Reflex that is setup so that my thumb is never off the aim stick. I can jump and dash around all I want while still shooting enemies just like M&K players can. Yes, Pro controllers do tend to be pricey but there are also cheap mod kits for regular controllers. You just have to be willing to learn how and it’s actually pretty easy.

I used to be a PC player, and dropped some good money on a rig back in the day. My first PC multiplayer experience, other than WoW, was Homefront 1. The very first match I played was plagued with hackers, who ran around the map at 20x normal speed, and insta headshotted all my team mates the second we spawned. This really opened my eyes on just how bad hacking is on most PC games. It gets to the point where multiplayer games are pretty much unplayable. I gladly took a dip in graphics and everything else, for a system that actually lets me play the games how they were meant to be played, without worrying about hackers.

I was a console gamer up until I played Doom 2016 on pc. I have never had so much fun with a game. And I won't go back

Arma series, squad, the indie games just to name a few. I love the simulator aspect, I miss my PC.
