So refreshing to see a basic truck.

I bought a new Ram 1500 Classic last December and I love it!

Yep that truck is probably the most basic full size truck Enterprise offers. It’s pretty much luck of the draw that determines what truck you get. Sometimes they’ll have King Ranch and Platinum F150s on the lot for the same price.

I lived in San Diego for 30 years. We get fog. Heated mirrors are useful when the mirrors are fogged up.

Love the classic! Picked up a brand new 2019 Regular Cab Hemi for 21k January of 2020. Its equipped exactly like the one he's reviewing. But I do have the hitch with a 3.92 rear end, Can't beat that!

I have a buddy who went the rental route (he rents a 3/4 ton truck a few times a year to tow his boat up to Lac Megantic and back in the autumn). He saves a lot of money doing this versus buying a truck he wouldn't use most of the time.

Would like to have the Classic rather than the new. It looks more truck-like.

I have a 2019 Ram Classic 4x4 Midnight edition and love it! So much value for the money.

So far I’ve loved my 2020 Ram 1500 Classic Tradesman with the Hemi. Yeah it’s basic but for the price I can’t complain and it’s not that hard to work on or customize, there’s plenty of affordable parts.

When me and my dad flew into Michigan for the North American Auto Show about 2 years ago, we got a 2019 Ram 1500 (re-design) but I did see a couple of these on the lot which made me confused. At that time I never knew about the Ram Classic so thank you for sharing this video. It’s interesting how they decided to sell both of these at once

Last time I went to Phoenix (end of 2019(, I rented a Ram 1500. First time I drove a full size truck. It was so much fun to drive and much nicer than I expected.

This must be a fleet-only SLT model, because the Tradesman trim doesn't come with the nice padded door trims or the upper glove box door.

I rented this with Pentastar and it was doing 25 mpg empty on interstate and about 22 on way back with stuff, another time i got Big Horn 5.7 too... In Sacramento i found AWD Pathfinder for Tahoe in January... Actually when i went in Airport early to rent, i just look through all they had on lot and upgraded to my liking, they had convertible V8 Camaros, V8 Mustangs, all kinds of trucks, one time i rented platinum Ford Edge with panoramic sunroof... Sometimes i just rent different vehicle then my truck and take off to Florida with no plans

This is why I love my third gen ST Ram 1500. It’s just a simple work commuter that has become an off-roader. I’m a huge fan of the tradesman models with carpet delete and upgraded equipment group 😎

My Escape was in the shop due to some vandalism, and my rental was a 2020 Ford f 150 lariat 5.0 4x4 and it was really something great

Got a Tacoma in Denver as a free upgrade - was great as was spending the week in the mountains and got to do some light trails that didn't expect.

Renting a truck from one of the top airport brands is a great idea. I've done the same and gotten nice specification Rams, Tacoma's and 4Runners. Great way to avoid the monthly payment, insurance and property taxes of full ownership. Just pay as you go! Great job Andre! TFL Rental is right around the corner! ;-)

I have a 2019 Big Horn Classic Hemi that's loaded up with very nice options. It was THOUSANDS cheaper the the new body style with the same options. Love it!

I rented one of these by accident a while back, and I got a 2019 Ram 1500 classic and it had the 5.7l hemi.

I guess the rotary dial shifter remains popular. Personally, I like a column shifter especially on a basic truck.

The last pickup I rented (Budget) happened to be a Ram 2500 Limited 4x4. They had F250s and 5.0 Mustangs as well. Great way to test drive a vehicle.

Enterprise in Toronto you can rent Dodge Durango's R/Ts and Silverados LT with pretty optioned up rig. Was surprised

That 3.6 Pentastar V6 is one of the most solid engines from FCA/ Stellantis, it's been in production since 2009 and not many faults. I do recommend anyone purchase the 3rd generation Penterstar that resolved the ticking sounds. The vehicles that's on the 3rd Generation is the Chrysler Pacifica, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango, Jeep Wrangler, Ram 1500 w/E-Torque, and Jeep Cherokee (3.2).

I'm pretty sure that rear step bumper has a hole for a ball hitch to tow a light trailer. You may have to pop out the plastic piece hiding it.

Hey this video just came out on March 25, the same day I got the same ram classic hemi 5.7L from hertz 😄😄 and mine is 4x4, btw I rented it in texas, nobody wants the v6 in tx. The one i had was running super great, smooth and solid, hemi acceleration was fantastic, leather wheel feels premium and solid unlike my F series truck, very nice ride

Back in the 90s, Avis rented Ford Rangers for 19.95/day. They were typically well equipped for the time, with multidisc CD players and were usually 4x4. They all had plastic lids with multiple doors on the lids to discourage hauling. I nearly always rented these and they were a great bargain and fun.

I just bought a used former rental Ram 1500 Classic. It was meticulously maintained, and in mint condition. And the best part about buying a basic truck, is doing the upgrades that I want.

These classic trucks allow Ram to boost sales figures for the 1500 line. Lots of fleet sales & the V6 is a proven powerplant in Jeep & other applications across the Corporate lineup. Nice to have more options than an upmarket Cadillac level of truck.

heated mirrors in san diego, are sometimes needed when there is dew from parking in an incline. dose not happen often but it happens.

My last flight to DFW, I got a Ram 1500 (DT). It was a Bighorn with a E-torque Hemi and 4x4. Nice truck. It almost made me want to trade in the 2014 Raptor. DFW is great for getting trucks. In 2018-19 (no flying for a while) I had Silverado, Titan, Ram’s, Canyon and F-150.

Last couple of times I have had to rent a car I have gotten a truck. Last time the midsize truck was the same cost as the economy car from Enterprise. 1 was an 18 F150 screw mid level xlt with the 5.0 and 4x4. 2 was a 20 F150 xlt screw 4x2 with the 3.5 eco 3 was 20 Ranger Lariat 4x4

Nice to see the basic models. Does not hurt as bad when you get that first scratch or bruise. Also look there is no rust underneath. Just Joking Andre!

You can still put a hitch ball on the bumper and still be able to tow

I recently drove a new ram (DT) 4x4 quad cab with the v6 and was very impressed with the engine. Good power all around, and for a v6 sounded great. way better than tacomas or any other truck v6 imo. I’d actually consider one at a good enough price

The Hertz location near me always has nice rental trucks and they're not much more per day than a car. Last time they gave me a brand new 2020 Rebel with 100 miles on it. Before that, I got a 2020 Ram Classic 4x4 Hemi.

I had a 2009 ram 1500 it was the first year of body change with rear coil springs witch is the same as the classic with the 5.7 hemi crew cab it was a Cheaper model but had lots of standard features I got brand new in 2009 for $25000 msrp was over $30000 great deal at the time great truck road smooth like a car because of the coil springs

Me and my wife rented a 19 f250 powerstroke to tow our caper along the west coast for our honeymoon. I got to put the first 2500 miles on the truck. It only had 18 when we picked it up

Enterprise gave us a bighorn with the hemi when we went to Vegas.

Most if not all rental companies do not allow towing, with the exception of Enterprise truck division. This is really unfortunate as there were several times I needed a tow truck and couldn’t get one. Even Turo forbids from towing 😕

2 years ago Hertz gave me a Laramie 4×4 fully loaded and the same engine as the one you have rented. No bed liner.

I worked in oil and gas in PA, OH and WV. I rented through Hertz out of Pittsburgh and most times would get a pickup. All the ones I rented were 4x4 with poor tires. They would vary from fully loaded to 4x4 classic like the one shown. Overall I was not impressed with the ram. I flew drones professionally for the oil and gas companies and the lack of cigarette outlets was very surprising. I believe there is only 1. Which means I could only charge one battery at a time. I was lucky enough to get a Ram 2500 once with the Hemi. It was so much more capable off-road. All the 1500s I would rip off the front air dam on water bars. I would throw it in the bed of the truck and then into the dumpster at the hotel. I also got high-centered and stuck in the middle of WV without cell service and hand to spend the night in one. The Ram 1500 Wasn't too bad to sleep in at 24-degree slope at 6 foot 6. I did have to get pulled out the morning after by a New F-350 which didn't have any problems. Without the trailer hitch, we had to strap the tow rope to the frame behind the bumper which inturn bent the bumper upwards. Nothing my co-worker Bubba couldn't fix by jumping on it at 350lbs. After that trip I only rented Jeep Wranglers.

I bought brand new unwanted fleet truck on sale, just like that but with 4x4. Use it as a glorified minivan and tow the quad and dirt bikes around. Just a good basic cheap truck with decent gas mileage.

The dealers here in SoCal offer massive discounts on these things. You can get a truck like this, but the Hemi, for around $25,000, after about $15,000 off MSRP. Unbelievable value.

I supposedly was gonna rent a midsize sedan (Ford Fusion, Toyota Camry, Nissan Altima) to go from Charlotte, NC to Joplin, MO. They had all their cars in that category booked in advance so they ended up giving me a Ford F-150 Lariat with navigation, heated leather seats, and panoramic sunroof and the 2.7L ecoboost, best upgrade for the price of a midsize sedan

When my jeep was in the shop. They gave me a ram longhorn Laramie 4×4. I could choose between the Ram, jeep Cherokee or compass.

I plan on renting a 3/4 ton commercial truck once my ram lease is up to tow the camper 5-6 times a year to make room in the budget for the new Bronco ;).

Did just that a year ago during a visit to Florida. They had a brand new RAM 1500 Laramie that was sweet. Understood why people like their interiors. It was a pig on gas but worth it for a rental experience.

Well, there you have it. Decades ago I was getting some work done on my V8 Dodge Dakota and was sent to a rental company to collect a cheap run about for over night. The rental company pleaded with me to upgrade over and over. I said no, what ever the dealership pays for is what I will take. They eventually caved in and gave me a Dodge Dakota 4 door pick up truck because they did not have anything cheaper on the lot. Don't ever cave into those jackals. ;)

In our 2019 trip on the historic route 66 my wife and I rented a ram 1500 4x4 similar to this one. We could get it for a week in August for 160dollar. The same price of the smallest car we could rent and even better than what we would have spent for three days of public transport in LA, the trip to, Las Vegas and two days in LV We wanted a true American experience and we had it. From las Vegas to Chicago we rented a Camaro convertible, even better.

When my 02 Tacoma was getting the frame replaced I got a ram 1500 with the 3.6 and before I got the truck they gave me a Corolla to drive

I have the Classic Express with the Hemi, 4WD, and the 8.4" screen. The dealer threw in a remote starter and reupholstered the seats in leather. Cost me $31k For people who complain that trucks are too expensive, you're not looking at the right trucks

It would be interesting to see what it would cost to buy when it reaches the end of life age or mileage and sold off-price and condition and do they auction them or sell off to used vehicle dealers, here in the UK I have bought many ex-rental vehicles cars and commercial vehicles and never had a bad one and usually with ars they get to one thousand miles and sold, commercial tend to be three years or twenty thousand miles.

We got a Laramie with 12 inch screen and pano roof for the price of a compact for a rental lol

I've rented one truck.. it was a 2wd 6cyl f150 xlt. I used it for some light offroading and hauling about 20 tons of limestone, ~1 ton at a time lol. I can see why fleets/contractors/etc. buy these but for a regular person I don't know why you would want something so basic.. it's 2021..geez..

Yea, I rented 2 trucks. Nissan pro4x and a 2020 Ford F-150 limited. Both came from budget.

F150 with the 3.3 V6 is also easy to work on.

Everytime my school year over I rent a full size pick up truck. I did had the luck that be able to drive the 3 brands On the last 2 occasions I drove a Ram 1500 classic but with the V8 5.7 Hemi 4x4 And the last time I got a F150 with the 3.5 Ecoboost also 4x4 I do rent this trucks on Ohio and Kentucky

We were in the market for a new ride for the wife. We rented thru Costco, picked the local Enterprise outlet and rented a 2017 Impala drove on a 6 day vacation thru Northern CA and down to Yosemite. we put 1500 mile on the unit. as part of the plan we were aware that the GM/Chevrolet was about to jump out of production on these vehicles so 1 month later we were in the business office of the local dealer got 25% reduction plus some decent financing( we cross shopped NFCU rate) and were in and out of the dealer in two hours. to date the vehicle has 33K on it with ZERO issues. I will not ever buy a vehicle again without a long term rental(one week minimum)to get the feel of the economics of operating the prospective car

AND IN 15 MINS, THEY GAVE THE TRUCK TOANOTHER PERSON RENTING, THE TRUCK WITHOUT CHECKING THE TRUCK I TOLD THAT PERSON THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE TRUCK I NOTIFIED CORP. THEY DID SAID , GET ANOTHER TRUCK AND HUNG UP, ! I CALLED FORD CORP. TOLD THEM ABOUT THIUS PROBLEM THEY CALLED ENTERPRIZE CORP. AND SAID THAT THE WARRENTRY ON THAT TRUCK WAS REVOKED, I IN TURN GOT A 500.00 CHECK FROM FORD SAYING THANK YOU FOR THE INFO. The trucks are really cheap to rent in California then any other state in America. I guess because Californian don't drive trucks ( other then ppl who use them for business) As for the hitch, I have a spare hitch to install when I need to rent a truck. But they do have some trucks with hitch, just gotta look hard when picking your truck and don't let them know you gonna hook a trailer, they will denied you. The ram i rented in California did have a 5.7 . I just got it because it was cheap to rent out of all the cars in the lot

I always rent a truck for vacation! There just more comfortable for my family. Never got to rent a ram they always give me a f150 2.7l or 3.5l 4x4.

I go out of my way to find a location with a RAM when I need a rental. Very comfortable, very capable trucks. Surprisingly good for road trips if you don't mind the fuel economy of a truck. At least in the midwest a lot of them seem to be Big Horns too.

This is what you get for a base [starting model] in rental fleets and government vehicles. To bad dealership don’t have any or very little (1 or 2) on the lot.85 percent of consumers could afford these prices and still have money left over for insurance,fuel,housing and food,and maybe a little set a side for a rainy day.🤔🤔
