As an INFP I can tell you. Start your own business ASAP, not having a boss is priceless. Meet some ENFP INFJ and ESFP friends. Stop bottling up emotions and share your feelings and ideas to others, you will feel light as a feather. First step: be your own friend first, then the door will be open to everything. I hope I can hep at least some strugling INFP. Edit:I just discovered I'm actually an ENFP lol 😅, after I looked up the functions and blindspots. don't trust these tests 100%.

The truth is, we can see through people. If you’re not genuine we don’t waste our time. And we don’t connect with everyone. We value extremely deep connections so our friendships are few. It doesn’t mean we don’t like people. We like a lot of people even if we don’t consider them friends. For our close friends we ride or die. We are extremely loyal. People seek me out to listen and talk to me because I can bring things into perspective that they haven’t thought of. I try my best to understand them and I’m empathetic towards others. But I am, by no means, a pushover as most descriptions would have it . I’m also an ambivert. So you can’t put all personalities in one basket. It’s hard for me to make friends but I will still attend a party. I’ll dance all night. I will perform in front of others. Audrey Hepburn, Johnny Depp, Bob Marley, etc all manage to speak and perform in front of others. We all come in different shades. I’m trying to improve my INFP personality but I love my quirks. 🌻

I think that on the internet there is a lot of unhealthy INFPs who with their comments and posts exhibit all the most harmful and embarrassing stereotypes about INFPs. But I am an INFP and... I like to be sociable, I like to party, I can take the initiative with other people, I can speak up when no one else could, I have a highly individualistic Fi dom function, but I still use A LOT of Fe and help people, think of other people and take into consideration other people's opinions...which, isn't always the best trait to have. The best thing is that all these stereotypes about INFPs, eg. crybabies, pushovers, awkwardness, extreme laziness, fictional crushes...also refer to me in big part but I actually don't brag about it on the internet, cause I don't feel a need to let all the people show on the internet who don't know me from wherever God knows they come from...I just consider it pathetic a little bit. I just don't want other people to be stuck in the conviction that all INFPs are awkward, clumsy, complaining queens, moody, egocentric, and simps for fictional characters. It isn't a thing to be proud of. It can be adorable to some people, and you still can embrace those traits to your close ones...but not to the whole internet xd and INFPs are doing that, but I realize (as an INFP) that it comes from not being understood in a real-life... Life is sad. Having in your stuck Fi-Ne-Si-Te (especially in this order) is something you didn't choose and having that you have twice, maybe triple times harder in life than other types, because of extreme emotionality, fragility, imagination and really strong bond with past. This isn't easy to deal with, and nowadays' society doesn't necessarily respect those traits. I think these days it's more about productivity, hard work, and getting a better version of yourself every day, so I think ESTJs are these role-model types of nowadays' society, and we're as the INFPs, we are an exact contradiction to that, so...out of all types we are the most "unwanted" personality in this world. And that's why life is so hard for us, and no other type can understand the additional hardships we have to deal with besides ourselves. But if an INFP...will embrace who he/she is, and learn self-love, and will use cognitive functions in a healthy way...damn, then you can be sure this will be one of the best persons you'll ever meet in your life.

I'm not always in the mood to talk, but he'll talk to me anyways, and I'll do what burnt out infp's do best: at least half listen or pretend to listen. As an e/infp, there is clear reason when infp cut people out. It looks like ‘for no reason’ coz the first step Nfp takes is staying away quietly to avoid quarrel which means wasting energy n time. If this doesn’t work, then nfp would not mind any verbal quarrel to let them know clearly, to the point of being rude.

The thing about us INFPs is that people like us [perhaps due to stereotypes and all] until they don't [after meeting a real INFP]. I've met a lot of people who were jealous of me because despite not having much in my life I was completely contented, while they strive for things that don't matter to me and yet they're still unsatisfied with their lives, so they try to pull me back down to their level to see me miserable. People like those in this world only likes an INFP when it benefits them. (Which is also why i became a magnet for toxic people when I didn't know about boundaries and went through great lengths at helping people, even those who didn't deserve it.) It's not just that, but I slowly come to realize from my genuine friends that my intentions are often misunderstood (after years of being friends with them they've slowly come to understand I only do things out of good intentions) because people who meet us thinks our kindness is fake. Some people in my life in the past had spread malicious rumors about me due to this, and it worked exactly *because* people think my kindness is fake. I mean, at this day and age you can hardly find a kind and honest person without ulterior motives or ill intentions, so i understand where they're coming from. But here's the thing; I understood that it doesn't matter if they don't like me, it doesn't matter if most people dislike me. I find more joy in having few, genuine people in my life liking me like my friends and family. I hope my fellow INFPs realize this truth for themselves, because it can be really freeing. I hope you all embrace yourselves no matter what people think, because not all people deserve your love and kindness for humanity.♡

I always get so confussed whe someone hates me or dislikes me. I usually after one day know by intuition if this person will get along with me or not. If something is wrong. My problem is I think those flaws are "character" and have trouble figuring out exactly how much bullshit I should be expected to put up with. I'm fine with people who dislike me just flat out not liking me. Simplifies _a lot._ Someone who says "I like you" but then proceeding to not act like they like you isn't a betrayal or a surprise, it's just more bullshit to deal with.
@jhemp
@jhemp 11 ай бұрын
@@samwallaceart288look at me necroing comment threads, but... I've been a relationship with an INFP for sometime (8 years) and now i think i understands a few things... I don't think INFP's are as good at reading people as they are narrowing in on the traits in people and events they dislike. They also tend to struggle thinking others care about them when in reality they hardly trip others peoples radars. As an INTJ personally, i find her desire to wear fancy outfits and odd tastes perplexing when she talks about wanting to blend into the background, yet insists on making herself stick out. I strongly encourage you guys to stop concerning yourself with others opinions of you A. because most people don't have an opinion of you and B. most people are worthless and their opinions are even moreso. I'm hardly an optimist, but nothing is perfect and theres value in seeing the good with the bad in both people and experiences. You aren't going to get the full range of experiences and growth if you cannot handle the bad with the good. There's nothing wrong with being wrong or making a mistake, only not learning from that mistake. I know my core mission of making myself better everyday is not something you guys often ruminate or on, and i know you INFPs are far less intrigued by the idea of tearing your thoughts and beliefs to shreds in hopes you might improve, but theres an incredible amount you can gain by worrying less and directing your energy towards being the best you, that you can be. Sidenote: I don't really think my fiancee can read me well at all, but then again most people who have strong emotions about things can't. I can usually guess her thoughts though, the logic she lets drive her decisions is very different than my own, but she is predictable in her own way.

As an INFP I was a loner as a kid. Then when I begun to make friends in high school, I didn't even know that the toxic people were gravitating towards me and I was too nice so I kept pushing away the inner voice that told me to stay away from those people, thinking it was just a dumb hunch etc. Then those toxic "friends" left me so hurt and insecure and I sadly had do the "doorslam" to them in order to protect whatever pieces of me was left from their shark teeth. Now I always listen to my inner voice when I have a negative hunch about someone. And as an infp, I look as naive as I look too friendly and thus toxic people keep coming to me to use me, take advantage of my non-assertive personality etc. Currently going to therapy, listening to "therapy in a nutshell" on youtube (that lady is downright amazing, I recomment it to all INFP's) and I'm trying to more outspoken, be assertive, not be afraid to stomp my feet down and say no, be confident etc. I hope all of us INFP's can be more confident and outspoken because God knows we need it😔

True. I wish I found my voice again. I got silenced by so many bad experiences I had in my life with the toxic people, narcissits and other decieving people. I find it very hard to talk publicly. When they make fun of my spelling something incoretly or if they act like what I am saying is boring - it causes me to shut down and keep quiet. Also I was and still I am getting picked up on very often. Like often I am target for bullies, online trolls, toxic people. I don't have sharp tongue to tell them something or to come with some good comeback. I can stay silent ot tell them that they are toxic but the damage is done. They bite me and took my energy and I am left for the rest of the day with bitter or angry feelings or even one nasty comment can make me cry because it reminds me of how I was bullied in past and I can't stop it. I wish I could. I wish I was able to tell them something bad in return. I do have low self-esteem because of being bullied. Can I ask how did you become more confident as INFP? What helped you?

Omg, where is this 'lazy' narrative stemming from? 😮‍💨 I'm an INFP. My dad is an INFP. My best friend is an INFP...and there is nothing, come hell or high water, that would ever stop us from doing a given task, *well.* Something I think gets overlooked in this function set is that we are people pleasers; the LAST thing we'd ever want is to be trusted with responsibility and then break that trust. That would hugely upset us, so how would it ever become a regular occurrence? Every INFP I've known, myself included, tries to over do what they've been asked, if anything. Our imaginations are not running out of control to the point where we're overwhelmed by life and can't function--how would we ever complete degrees or hold down any jobs? How would we run a household? Sure, it might take us a bit longer to adjust, but we work hard and we get things done--this is double true if we have a passion for our duties, and/or a supportive team to collab with.

The lazy stereotype are from an INFP who will prefer to spend time in their imagination and avoid interacting with the world. It is unhealthy to hide in your imagination when there is work to do, but it is fine when it is on your own time. I believe the difference is between the turbulent type and the assertive type but I might be wrong. Turbulence is when your emotions are overwhelming and assertive is when you are able to focus and direct them (this is my own opinion from anecdotal life experience). You are talking about healthy INFPs who will work day and night to make sure they have accomplished the task that was asked of them. Maybe having so many other INFP in your life has helped you from avoiding the unhealthy behaviours, which can arise from being misunderstood and feeling isolated or even mistreated. It can be really unpleasant to try and please someone who is critical and never satisfied with your work, this can trigger unhealthy responses towards that person and snowball if you value them (my mom was like that) and are never able to please them no matter how hard you try or how good your work is. Strangely I overheard her talk about what a good worker I was and that I did an excellent job when she did not know I was there. I was in my teens and this helped me change my feelings, I knew she was critical of me to get my best, she just failed to ever give me positive feedback as encouragement. Eventually once I was an adult she did start to acknowledge my hard work and accomplishments, we developed a much better relationship as a result.

All the other replies above are great. I'd like to add my thoughts as an INFP. When I'm getting paid or when other people are really depending on me to complete a task, I'm on top of it and get it done in a reasonable amount of time. If a task is solely mine, where it's something personal and affects no one else directly, then that's when I tend to procrastinate, which looks an awful lot like laziness.

I find that people either like me or they don’t. Those that don’t are usually narcissistic or are pretending to be something they are not, and they know I can see right through them which makes me a threat. Those who like me or are drawn to me know that they can tell me anything and I will not judge them. They also know I will carry their “secrets” to my grave and never betray their trust. I have learned to trust my gut. If something tells me to avoid a person, I do not waste time trying to figure out why. If I have to work with them then I am polite and professional but I do not let my guard down, ever. INFP’s are one of the rarest personality types so a lot of people do not get where we are coming from while we are able to easily understand where they are coming from. This can make for a lonely life at times because it is rare that we find others we are able to connect with on a deeper level. Which is why we spend much of our lives feeling emotionally and intellectually starved. One reason I do not have many close friends is because most people take far more from me than they are able to give. It can be very exhausting so I’ve learned to establish healthy boundaries to prevent people from unintentionally or intentionally draining me dry. Our introverted nature is our way of decompressing from the outside world. Too much stimulation, interaction, etc. leaves us drained and we withdraw to heal and bring peace back into our lives.

I’ve known 3 narcissists who were INFPs - the personality disorder. Anyone can be one regardless of Mbti type. I’ve never been in a romantic relationship with one or slept with one. Usually end up with ENFPs, INFJs, other ENTPs. The worst types as friends or lovers in my experience have been: ESFP & ESTP. That’s the dark side stuff. I’ve had good relationships with INFPs besides that pattern of the above I’d noticed. Only because Jesus has paid for my sins on my behalf on the cross I can be genuinely kind and unselfish. I realized that I couldn't be unselfish without Jesus (I'm still not perfect, but when I do wrong things I tell God I'm sorry, ask for forgiveness, trust that Jesus has saved me already, and try not to do it again.) I said that I don't really get angry once, so she tried to prove me wrong by harassing me. I knew what she was trying to do and I wasn't going to cave in and get angry. It didn't last long because being nice is my default and I've been nice to everyone. So they had my back whenever she tried anything, she tried and tried and tried until she just couldn't because people fought her every step of the way. But the sweetest revenge for me is when I decided to continue being nice to her. I kept smiling at her knowing she hated it because she would never win this battle.... And that just made me smile even more. We ended up losing touch but I reckon she still hated me till the last day we saw each other. Just thinking about her makes me smile again. Yeah…I’ve been told by many that I am instantly adored or hated…no in between. For those that instantly hated me but were forced to be around me for awhile at work or in class, they always end up growing to love me…eventually they always end up telling me how much they hated me at first…usually because I am “really weird” or “too quiet” or am a “know it all.” As for never finishing anything…only when there’s no one I feel like I will disappoint…I can’t really help it. I go hard when I get into things and burn out fast because of it.

I have a love-hate relationship with the MBTI INFP. I'm an INTJ. I like the empathetic and compassionate nature of INFPs but dislike how it seems as if being a pushover and people pleaser comes with it. I especially dislike their overthinking nature. Sure, everyone's insecure about something, but don't overthink cute details of the past that much. It's not necessary. I know you can't help it, since you're doing it unconsciously, but I can't count the amount of times my INFP friends randomly started screaming in chat because of something they did that happened like 4-6 years ago, how do you even remember that- I dislike how INFPs have this kind of standards, well, ideals for themselves and when they fail to meet their ideals, they start to berate themselves. It's okay to want an ideal self, but you're not useless nor worthless if you don't meet up to your current standards. It's about small steps; And hey, maybe in another person's eyes you might have already become the person you wanted to become. Every perspective is different after all. Contrary to the public opinion in the chat, I don't mind being analysed. I actually like knowing their analysis about the patterns in my behavior that I never even noticed. Well, too bad that my friends don't do that but at least I often do it to myself? Now, I'm not a stereotypical INTJ, nor is the person reading this is the stereotype of their MBTI. You might not have the characteristics that I mentioned, or you might, but you shouldn't beat yourself up if you do have them. Disliking your flaws isn't going to make things better, living happily is more on about addressing your flaws and appreciating your strengths

@i .candy I agree with your first sentence; Gotta love good self esteem. Anyway, it's true that all types has self esteem issues, yes, even I do too. Though the problem is that it just seems as if the INFP type is more prominent and particularly deeper (Correct me if I'm wrong, this is opinionated) with the issues that I mentioned, which are the ones I get very concerned about. Sorry about the speeches lol, I do that too, though I wouldn't particularly consider it as 'jumping all over you', could you please give me an example? I didn't really understand your last sentence. In my opinion, INFPs are very agreeable and I often ask them for their opinion when I do something out of the mundane

@i .candy They're talking about our Fi-Si loop. Sure, other types can be perfectionists as well. But we have a tendency to enjoy our own misery, so to say. Right now, you are the one making excuses for your own behaviors by directing the problem on others instead of being introspective about it. That is an excuse. And obviously, not everything we do is always wrong in people's eyes. Did you not see how this INTJ has compassion for us and is sadden that we belittle ourselves more than anyone can do? Your perceptions are... well only YOUR perceptions of yourself. Most of the time, I'm sure people don't think bad about you as much as you already do in the first place. Of course, I'm not saying this with any bad intention to hurt your feelings, fellow INFP. I just want you to understand that most of the time, and no matter the type, we are our worst critique in life. Change the rhetoric in your head. Talk to yourself with kindness everyday. It will be hard at first but will become an habit slowly but surely. It's a start. We can only change ourselves. 💜 Sorry for any mistake. English is not my main language. 😅

We cannot put up with fake or pretentious people. It is difficult and impossible for us. We seek genuine connections. We give it our everything when people around us are having a hard time but when they are selfish and treat us like an 'use and throw', we will simply move away. It breaks our heart too but we want to be valued and cherished as well. We call out on people's lies. Either that or we simply do not want to associate with such people. We do not judge. We like people who are honest with us rather than buttering us up with an underlying intention. We are gullible because we treat people with sincerity and believe they will too. So we get hurt when they aren't. We try our best to give people chances and are very empathetic even tho we know the other person is not sincere. This is because we care for them and 'hope' that someday they will treat us with sincerely but after taking in too much hurt, we get depressed and go back to our cave. We tend to cry easily cos we are often misunderstood and criticized unfairly.

But people couldn't care less about their neighbors, or to better the community. They are too stagnant in their ways, no place for change for the better. Yes! I have the solution for literal world peace, given to me by Jesus Christ, and I cannot do it alone. The plan is to befriend your literal neighbours, then gently encourage them to be friends with their literal neighbours. Then the overlapping circles of friendship = world peace. I have long realised that we have the solution to every problem, it's just selfishness preventing implementation. I was hopeless about that for a long time, but then I met Jesus Christ and He made it all better. He has everything under control, I just have to step back and watch Him do it, and play my part as He guides me to. I love Jesus ❤

ALL of these negative traits CAN be defied as one matures. Self actualized INFPs would look like INFJs from the surface level, despite still having the same cognitive processes. Everyone can change and improve, INFPs are good in that. Put an affirmation and make your promises, that you can actually organise things and get them done. Find ways to use your creativity, recognise situations that pose you difficulties, and try to come up with creative approaches to improve your experience without compromising the goal. Don't bottle up all your thoughts, it turns into a black hole of trouble. Identify those that you can open up to, and happily share your thoughts and experiences according to your comfort. Then others would find that you are more interesting and friendlier than what appears.

Be better INFP's cuz you deserve better. 1) It's really what your morals and values are. Learn to harness them. Once you accept healthy things as your values, like not letting anyone hurt you emotionally, and prioritizing yourself first., it's an easy game from there. 2) Start doing tasks as soon as you get them. and finish at least half of it in the 1st day. I know we suck with deadlines but this method helped me a lot. Don't be like "there are this many days left" be like "I know i will end up daydreamng later so i better get off as much pressure now as possble" 3) Stop caring. Really. I'm an INFP and i don't give a F abt what anyone thinks of me anymore. they can say i'm oody, closed off, isolated, whatever. There are more people who like me and that's enough for me. 4) You're not responsible for other people. Let them work out their problems on their own. you can offer an ear, or some advise, but you cannot step into their shoes and walk on their path. You can only see their prespective, but not alter anyone's actions. 5) Only keep in your life the people who are sncere with you. We are pro lie/intention detectors so yeah, we know who wats what from us. and if it is a deep connection, then i'm up for it. and if you are forced to live with toxic people (parents, siblings etc) just don't let them enter your mind. Disturb your peace. 6) don't turn into a bitch. Kindness costs nothing. Don't trust people but it doesn't mena be blunt with them and spit insults on their faces. Don't be a bitch.

I agree with everything except not finishing via deadlines. Deadlines are the only thing that helps me finish, granted I will stay up all night the day before the deadline to get things done, and if it takes longer than an entire day and night (I have literally worked 24hrs straight on things) I may not complete it on time. Some jobs the other person shows up late and I continue to work until that time, so I am often very close to completion if time was prohibitive in getting it done. If I have 4 months to get something down, and it takes a week to complete (assuming I know how long) than I will not start the job before the last week except maybe in fitful bursts. If I do procrastinate and the fitful amounts were insufficient it is possible to be quite far from finishing. Give me no deadlines and years might pass with minor work being done. Not surprisingly, we never honour our own deadlines, unless they synch up with some other time constraint. And of course INFP`s feel uncomfortable asking for help, even if we have helped you more times than either of us can count over decades of knowing you. So if you want to help and be supportive of your INFP, you actually have to present yourself and say here I am to help you, we will breath a sigh of relief and let you in. And if you do we are deeply appreciate, but may or may not say so at first since it might trigger our emotions. We will feel more comfortable telling you once the task is complete and we are able to process those emotions without interfering in the work at hand.

Because we're genuine, honest and despite hiding under our own surface, we're always ourselves in any situation. "Normal" people can't stand that because many lifetimes of misinformation, fiction and paranoia has turned our personality into an enemy of the people. Like; just existing is already seen as an attack on their "selves". Because we're not like them and that's not how it's supposed to be. They think that we act out of arrogance and the idea that we're better than them. Which we are, but we never act on it. It's just that they themselves séé that we're actually better than them, without having to make an effort. And that rubs them the wrong way. And rather than improve themselves, they're much more eager to point fingers and put the blame on those they feel threathened by. And because most people are like that, that shit is considered normal. While our uniqueness is considered "problematic" and has even gone so far that they've created medicine to try and change us to be more like them. But most of all, they created that medicine to give themselves some peace of mind. To know they thwarted a problematic individual before he could spread it to others. There is quite literally a war on introverts that has been going on for millennia and no one's ever mentioning it. Because no one cares about introverts and everyone thinks bad of us, thinks we're up to something. Thank you misinformation, gullible people and corrupt, paranoide, governments for that shit.

And if that INFP in question knows what he is doing, expect him to not only complete tasks but to also beat deadlines by a solid margin. As an INFP myself, I’d like to say that you’re wrong. When using cognitive functions, introverted personalities aren’t wannabe hermits; their dominant function is simply personal (for IxxPs) or organizing (for IxxJs). It’s a common mistake to think your functions determine how much you like talking to people. Your second mistake is that you associate the feeling trait with being a kind/empathetic person. Feeling alone doesn’t mean anything. It needs to be introverted or extroverted. INFPs have introverted feeling. This means they make decisions with THEIR morals, values, and emotions, not caring how they effect people as long as they’re true to themself. This doesn’t mean all high-Fi users are willing to commit mass genocide because they feel like it or are unable to be good people. It means they can be empathetic or kind, but only when they feel like they should.

It often happens to me that people only hate me the first time they see me act as I am, for example a classmate from the first class hated me just for being sensitive and trying to be nice to her, she told me I was presumptuous and irritating and never spoke a word to me other than to ask me for a favor or manipulate me and I always thought she would change and forgive her by falling into her trap again

How presumptuous and irritating of her. I would've used her own words against her.
