I'm not surprised, Paypal is a SHITTY service for sellers as they have to live in fear each day and this is being proven almost daily. Heck even Flipper Zero company themselves had issue with Paypal where they seized around 1 million $ and still hold 350k for "mitigate possible claims". I liked using Paypal because it's more secure but ever since of realizing how shitty is to the sellers ESPECIALLY to small ones like Seytonic I just created Revolut account and use disposable cards at dodgy sites.

Here, in Brazil, you can´t take "facts or logic" to serve as introduction to bans or laws, just search for the initial ban on pepper spray or the gun laws. But what i think is going on with the flipper 0 is the new requerement of devices that works with RF, like Drones, ham radios etc. Now you have to register the device with ANATEL (subject for testing is required), and if your device don't have certification like OEM, toy drones you can't homologate the product.

Just to clarify a little bit on the Brazilian system and mind: An electronic product sold in Brazil needs to be pre-approved by Anatel (and have the approval logo on the product). So the first reason of being returned is that the product wasn't an evaluated and approved one After that became clear, some people requested it to be evaluated for approval, that's where Anatel said "this type of product cannot be approved" Regarding mind/culture: no foreign good has the "right" to enter Brazil without prior approval - we're super protectionist of goods (if you travel and bring goods on you luggage in excess of $1,000, the import duty is 60%). So if the regulator believes this novel product is going to be able to cause any harm, they will flat out refuse it to allowed in the country

Here in Brazil, as far as I know most motor-operated automatic gates use RF without rolling codes, so, in theory, not only could you open them with another controller paired to the same motor (or even paired to a motor of the same make/brand), but with a Flipper Zero as well. Personally I think the Flipper Zero was banned because we have a huge problem being behind the times on infrastructure and tech in general, and the Flipper Zero could be used to exploit a ton of scenarios that actually happen here.

I have seen the Flipper Zero used to commit crime here in the US, and it's terrifying. People have used it to trigger the emergency vehicle mode on traffic lights (felony), install malware on public kiosks, and more. And, while it's more of a proof-of-concept than anything, someone at my university figured out how to use the flipper zero's GPIO to replay magstripe cards, including credit cards. Honestly, I don't have a problem with the flipper zero as a product since all of its functionality exists in other dedicated pentest tools, but I do have a problem with the marketing and tiktok community that's sprouted because of it. Kids buy it, use it to be a general nuisance and in some cases commit crimes, and then post about it on social media as a way to brag. It gives cybersecurity a bad name and a bad taste in the eyes of highschool sysadmins and the general public since kids are just using it to be annoying without actually learning anything.

The FZero has just shown how little security system there is in all kind of device. If the FZ was not a thing criminal would have just gotten other tools to do the exact same crime. The only door FZ has really open is for dumb kids to be a nuisance.

There's a much simpler way to deal with mischievous kids who do stupid stuff and post on social media: use the evidence they produced on themselves to serve justice. There's no need to inconvenience cybersecurity researchers and professionals by restricting their access to an useful tool in their trade. Companies will still keep making insecure products if their consumers have no clue they've been using unsafe stuff.

@fss1704 Жыл бұрын
The emergency mode can be triggered using any bluetooth-audio and IR-leds from security cameras, idem to the magstripe cards, and no i doubt anyone that knows how to install malware on kiosks even remotely has any need of a flipper to do it, sincerely you have no point on this.

The big difference is how it looks when shipped. Most devices you are showing just look like a circuit board that the average person would not know what it might do just from looking at it. Yet Flipper is easy to identify, with the iconic case the hardware is in. As well as how many people have been seen using it. Where as the others have been seen used, but don't really stand out, when you compare how they look to normal parts people could order online. (or at least this is the first problem I see)

@@BadPractices You clearly misunderstood the argument being made though. The point isn't that the Flipper Zero can't be used maliciously, the point is that it's not a particularly good tool for the job and an actual cyber criminal would probably be smarter than this. As he said in the video they prefer working remotely and there's an obvious reason for that, it leaves less evidence and keeps the criminal safer. Sure the flipper might not leave much trace itself but if you physically have to go to the location in question you as a person are still going to leave evidence, and like anything actually important will just have a CCTV system that'll spot you. The Flipper Zero isn't being used by criminals for the same reason no one has ever been mugged with a foam sword. Sure you could do it I mean those things fucking hurt if you whack someone hard enough and can do serious damage, hospitalizations aren't uncommon at LARPing events, but like a criminal is obviously gonna use the best tool for the job, in this case an actual weapon.

I am not sure how the laws work in that country, however two terms in the USA are potentially helpful for getting the funds for the devices back directly from the government. Eminent Domain - The right of the state to take private property without the property owner's consent. The Fifth Amendment to the US Constitution requires just compensation to be given to the property owner when private property is taken by the federal government. In other countries, there may not be that protection to get funds for ' reasonably believed legal to own ' devices being seized by the government, especially as I can not find ' banned electronic devices ' for Brazil. Writ of Execution - Having the Court Bailiff's go and collect. This also may be in Brazil and only works when asked for at the end of a trial where recompense is ordered by the court. Remember to not interrupt the judge during the process, ask during the process " We would like to ask the court that in event of a result in our favor for a Writ of Execution. "

cars can still be hacked using roll jam attack. flipper zero can be used to record the signal of a key fob when far away from the car. Signal for 3-5 unlock key press is needed. Then can be replayed to unlock cars

It's all the "scary hacking" connected to a brand. It's the perfect target for tech illiterate politicians to ban. This is what firearms enthusiasts deal with. It doesn't have to do with capability, it all has to do with branding. ...Not saying hacking equipment has any relation to firearms, just saying the political response is much the same.

Recording and replaying is not useless. If you jam the code from being accepted by the car and record it, the remote moves onto the next code and the car will accept that one, but the one recorded will also work when used again while not being jammed. It’s an unused accepted code. Also, you can definitely use and it most likely has been used to record CC or bank cards.
@Jakhaxz
@Jakhaxz Жыл бұрын
The unused code will no longer work if the car has seen a newer code. The way this attack has to work is that when you jam, you then have to collect 2 codes. You then replay the older of the 2 codes and keep the newer one for later.
@Uneke
@Uneke Жыл бұрын
@@Jakhaxz I’ve used this attack on my own car several times. I’m prone to losing my keys, and my car is keyless entry and start. So I recorded a code with my NooElec and audacity, and stored it on an Rpi. Lost my keys one day and just used my pi to open and start it. It only needs 1 unused code to unlock and the LF signal (this one stays the same) to start. You can verify this by looking in youtube… Sammy kamkar covers this in depth and so does a bunch of defcon guys. Dale wooden covers it more in-depth than anyone else though. So he’s definitely worth looking up.

All you need to control traffic lights is a bog standard quad op amp, a few passives, a transistor of basically any kind, and the IR LEDs. If you dont want to spend a ton of extra time going back and forth in testing and changing the values of resistors to get the right pulse intervals, you can just use a couple of pots and tune it in one or two shots at a traffic light. No development board or anything with a processor needed.

Cars are also used in the country by malicious users in facilitation of a criminal offence or misdemeanour too, the same for motorcycles, bicycles, knifes, forks, spoons, wood, iron bar, petrol, air... all of these are used by criminals. Will they ban it? Honestly, since what happened at the end of 2022 Brazil has gone from a good competitor among the world power rank to an easy bad joke.

I don't live in Brazil, but from my obscure knowledge involving video games and video game systems, Brazil is very protectionist of the local economy, requiring high import fees and prior approval to sell most foreign goods in country, it's more then likely they didn't have prior regulatory approval, and then when the Brazilian government went to review them at request after seizure for lack of approval, they decided not to solely for the use type of the product
@rannsakanda

@@jaykoerner I'm brazilian, the govt is not protectionist of the local economy, since they are the ones fucking the local economy, what happens is that they put a lot of taxes on everything, our currency is weak, the govt is corrupt, its not attractive to invest here, so its more attractive to consumers to buy from the outside, and then they see another opportunity to put more taxes and say that is to protect the local economy as an excuse

in regards to your paypal problem, you should not keep a balance & you can report any change that not authorized by u, directly to your bank. Yet when they take if from the balance u can't really report that & have no chance. The other problem is that you have a youtube talking about things that could be miss interpreted but just give alot more info about what your site sells, & most sellers don't have that. Not saying paypal should but I would think there is a grater possibility for it to happen to you vs a site not linked to a channel that also reports on hacking events.
