My viewer Takuya quit his company in Japan and moved to Singapore to study MBA in NTU. How is his life in Singapore? How is it like studying at NTU?
My yakiniku bentos are available for takeaway from 22 Mar - 31 Jul 2022 at all Yakiniku-GO and Yakiniku-GO Plus outlets. Also available online at order.yakinikugo.com.sg as well as GrabFood, Foodpanda and Deliveroo. Super excited to release my bentos and I'm sure you will all like it.
In this video, MBA student Takuya-san gave me a tour of NTU (Nanyang Technological University), one of the world's top universities. I cannot believe how huge the campus is and also, how beautiful it is. Yunnan Garden is definitely one of the best parks in Singapore.
00:00 My Bentos are Out!
01:46 Say Hi to this Japanese couple
04:20 The Hive - CRAZIEST building in Singapore!
06:57 Classrooms at NTU
08:45 Meet the MBA Students
11:20 Lunch at Student Canteens

14:25 Why study at NTU? Why did he quit his company in Japan?
Thank you Yakiniku-GO for this opportunity to work on this and also sponsoring this video.

I graduated about 20 years ago too. I think the carpark at the North spine becomes what you see as the Plaza (Giant supermarket). There is also a roofing at the main spine corridor. It was opened air the last time. The canteen is commercialised. Not like hawker centre stalls.

They only covered the Nanyang Garden and the North Spine area. There is also National Institute of Education across the bridge from the canteen at North Spine (in video) and there is also South Spine. It takes about 20-25mins walk to walk end to end. In each spine, there are 4 main blocks and a few buildings in between. There is also a sports complex and swimming pool. There are about 14 student dormitories and staff apartments. Huge campus.

Hi Ghib, I don't know if you'll see this but, I recently saw ur interview on mothership and you mentioned about how you wanted to make videos that are meaningful to society and how you could but chose not do stuff like put stuff like a sexy girl on the thumbnail and get loads of views. I've watched KZfaq for quite a while now and I can say I have seen many KZfaqrs do it just for the views by putting suggestive content on the thumbnail over and over again. Even if they may have more views/subscribers than you, I can say that I respect you more as a person as now we live in a day and age where its easy to get swayed by the temptation to earn more money by putting up risque/reaction/low effort type of content. I'm not saying that it's wrong to do so, it's just that I find your type of content to be more meaningful to society as a whole and for that, you are one of the few KZfaqrs that I truly respect. Thanks Ghib

I have no words, everything in this video is so interesting to watch. I personally don’t study there (I have friends studying there currently, and I haven’t go there before too) but I can say being one of the top local unis in Singapore, academic wise it is definitely TOUGH! 😫 Goodluck to Takuya-san in his studies at NTU💪🏻 I’m really surprised by how humongous the whole campus actually is.

I graduated in 2003 from NTU. It’s totally different now. There were only 2 main canteens then within the campus. The rest of the canteens were in the halls and we had to take a shuttle bus or walk a long long way if we want to try other food. They have so many options now.

That's the Chinese Heritage Centre at the 3:19 mark, unfortunately it's undergoing renovation until late this year or early next year, it looks pretty interesting inside as well. The Wang Gungwu library at CHC has a good collection of resources on overseas Chinese, and was a pretty chill spot for students before the current renovation.

1. NTU MBA is supposedly 12 month course but it's actually 10 months (or even less depending on what classes you take). You have 3 trimester, and most heavy workload is done in the initial 2. The program is structured in that way so students can focus on job search in the last trimester 2. NTU MBA is not that hard. Some classes are, but many classes are pretty much group projects, presentations and essays. Having the right group will make your life a lot easier. Just hone in your presentation and writing skills, and you'd do fine. 3. NTU MBA is a lot cheaper than US/European MBA, the comparison by Ghib is correct. That is still excluding the living costs. Food at NTU campus costs $3-5sgd while in US it's easily USD $9-12 4. NTU MBA does not guarantee a good job, especially during covid. It's hard for foreign students to find a job nowadays. 5. NTU campus is super pretty. Some halls don't have enough elevators and you have to wait a long time. Laundry sucks, they only have about 3-4 machines per 2-3 floors, imagine the wait. And only accept the old $1 sgd coin, which becomes a commodity among NTU students, lol. 6. There are free buses around NTU campus. However, it will take a looonggg time to get to city center from NTU if you take public transportation.

Is the MBA course a compressed course? It sounds like it is only a one year course so I assume the courses are compressed. This is good if the student especially if foreign since they can save money by completing the course as fast as possible. Good luck to your friend. Hope everything goes smoothly. It is great to know that there are young people who are willing to move from the comfort of their homes to explore the world. Nothing beats living the lives of others. We learn alot.

The Nanyang MBA follows the structure/framework of MIT Sloan's MBA, which is very flexible, i.e., you can choose to complete in the shortest possible time or stretch to the longest time limits. The shorter the time, the cheaper the school fees. You must be able to balance learning, school work/submissions and grades. There are cores and electives/specialisations subjects. It depends on what you are comfortable with and what you want to achieve.

Good job OjiSan on this interview 👍😊. This is such a good and inspirational experience to share. I admire the courage and tough decision taken by Mr and Mrs Takuya san to break out from the work life situation they do not find suitable. Quitting their jobs and going to a foreign country starting afresh is no small decision, lots great effort has been put in to change their course of life and pursue their dreams. What a wonderful couple they are , full of confidence and have lots of positive energy, I wish them successful in pursuit of their life goals 😊🙏. The NTU campus is very different from the Yunnan garden that I once stayed in 1981. I came from Malaysia and was enrolled in NUS, NTU/NTI was started that year, it offered its hostels for NUS students till 1983. I had great experience and fond memories at NTU campus. studying, building my career and raising family in Singapore which I now call home is the gift from heaven for me and my family 😊🙏. I hope it continues to offer such opportunities to the new comers.

A bit late to this video, but I hope Takuya & Yuiko can gain some valuable world experience and build a path for themselves w/o regrets. I work for a JP company too and I understand perfectly the work culture, even though our local office does not operate that closely with how JP does things but the mindset is there. It's quite well-known on the "drinking culture" there, I also hate it a lot! I'm not a drinking person, I just want to go home and rest! I can tell Takuya didn't like his previous job, his mood suddenly changed! Go forth, keep striving ahead!
