I broadcast buckwheat every summer into my clover plot. The deer love it. I've never had any make it to seed.

Cool video and great information. If my food plot is currently clover and July is approaching, how whould you proceed?

Hey Cal, Thanks for watching. Without seeing your plot it's tough to say but I would keep clover around the outside 8-10' of your plot maybe run some Egyptian wheat down the middle turning your plot into two plots (depending on the size) that way you could grow oats, soybeans winter peas or something that matures in October But the most effective plot for November December hunting season I'd recommend a brassica blend. Turnips and radishes are my go to. Having a variety is terrific but the Best part about having two sides to the plot is that you can rotate your sides every year for heathy soil crop rotation. Pretty easy system. I usually shoot for planting by august 1st-15th depending on whenever the rain is in the forecast You may enjoy this video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e7-hfpiUz5irh2Q.html Best of luck

I'd start by cutting low July 1st, spraying glyphosate with a pull behind or back pack sprayer. Repeat 2 weeks later. Another two weeks later (Should now be August 1st) Use Mower or Dethatcher(if available) to remove any vegetation in your plot which also helps prep your soil for seed. Now you can broadcast your brassica blend with rain in the forecast. Spread a 12-12-12 fertilizer immediately after to help the plot and roll if you have a roller. I'd consider spraying one more time on the day you plant if there's still some vegetation competition in your plot. Roundup is a post emergent herbicide so it won't affect the seed germination at all. It'll just eliminate any potential competition. Best of Luck
