Agreed, I also appreciate mine when it gets darker. I wasn't able to configure it in a way where the light strip is not visible to my eyes without it shining on the display, but I can live with that and I also had this problem with 3 other lights I tested. It means I keep the display clean and dust-free at all times.

It seem Chinese tech have replace Japanese. Ah, time changed. I remember buying a Sony Walkman was the best thing. Now i see Japanese electronics, Samsung and Apple are nothing but a rip off. That's just me and my random frugal rants Update.. I checked the price of the Xiaomi Mi Light bar on eBay. It cost over $100 with shipping.. I just but a clip on light for my nano fish tank like this for $12..

Better to put your screen in front of a window and look out from time to time. There are muscles that tension your eyeball to focus short distance, it's better to let them relax for a bit by focusing on "infinite range" every so often.

I have a Momax one, I use it more than my actual desk lamp, so I don’t plug it into my monitor. The lighting is even, and I can change the colour temperature / brightness. And it’s amazing for gaming. The only issue I have is that it does not stay in the same position all the time, but it can be easily rectified.

I use this to light my workshop! On one side there's the stained plastic and on the other side, the LED matrix with no diffusion, completely bare (on some model). If you turn it around, you get way more intensity than anything at this price point and size. It easily replaced a big heavy lamp for my repair desk. I repair anything from laptop, to phones, toasters, roombas, and other small appliances. This is great!! For 20 quids you get the equivalent power of a 100 bucks lamp. Besides you can fix it anywhere you want : on the wall, below your desk, on your monitor (of course), on a wood plank, a piece of metal if it's a magnetic one, etc etc... those light bars are genuinely a brilliant design. I just put mine into a USB power-bar and it doesn't even have an on/off button but I turn my power bar off anyway when I'm done, to avoid potential accidents involving my soldering iron or glue gun overheating. I received mine for free from Amazon (Vine program), but I'll be buying many more! One could realistically, given enough USB ports are available for power, light an entire workshop for small work, repair or restoration with those things. It can also be used for display boxes, or to hide in props for movies! There are tons and tons of uses for those things!

At first I was skeptical as to what purpose this thing serve, but as a person who works at night in a no light environment (personal use case), I would have to stare on my PC for 8 hours a day (excluding non work thingy after shift) and it strains my eyes. I use to use anti-radiation glasses but it only creates reflection and I even have to clean it often. After getting one for myself (got the "Baseus i-Wok" one), the eye strain was gone and just forgot about it until I got a 2nd monitor and realize the difference it made. The eye strain was so noticeable that I had to immediately order another one. I'm not sure what your use-case are but if you're like me, you could try one and see the difference yourself or just skip this. 🙂 Note: get one that does the job done, don't point in to the monitor (that's not how that works) as it should not directly hit the monitor.

Florescent ceiling lamps give designers headaches. Oddly enough, the old heat generating quartz floor lamps were fantastic. The light was bounced off the ceiling, and since heat doesn't flicker with the 60Hz input the result was very easy on the eyes. Phones using high speed data were created under these lamps, using HPUX workstations.

to be honest, you may not even need the monitor screen light. there are ceiling-facing lamps at ikea that will achieve a nice warm room-global lighting similar to this that will cover more then just your desktop. and they are cheaper too, a lot of people will also probably use more then just a desktop for paperwork as well. but the concept is interesting ig

Great Video. Quick question.... do you think this would work on vertically stacked monitors? I have two 27" LG's stacked vertically. The top edge of the top monitor is slightly above my head so I'm wondering if the light will be too bright and dazzling as it's likely to be in my range of vision due to the height. Cheers

I love how he says desks take up real estate on your desk while there's a fucking floor lamp in the background of the video. If you're doing work at night or whatever, just get a lamp that illuminates the whole room. You're still going to give yourself eye strain if the room is dark but just your desktop is lit up.

You should've suggested the Xiaomi light bar as a middle-ground option. I don't know how it's on par with the BenQ but it's much better than the Baseus one + also has its dedicated remote. It's good if you want a quality light bar without paying the premium price of the BenQ.

Aside from the fact the Xiaomi one has a dedicated remote, unlike the Baseus one (which uses buttons on the light itself), another KZfaqr named "goldfries" did a great job summarizing the difference for these light bars, you should def check that one out! One of the things I do to reduce eye strain is I have my desk turned so it's facing the center of the room and not toward the wall. That way the overhead light doesn't cast shadows and I can glance out the door at any second.
@Siberius-
@Siberius- 2 жыл бұрын
But then you have those bright ceiling lights right in your vision. Or the monitors might cast a huge shadow over your desk space... depending on the set-up. Something that helps is having those lights behind you (dimmed a bit if possible), then lighting up the desk with something that isn't bright when you look at the product, which also kills any shadows you make. Then also lighting up the wall behind the monitor to spread that concentration of light out. Bit of a pain in the ass though. If your set-up works, then I'm happy about that.

If you have an alternate light bar setup, how would you know that it works as well or better? Some screenlights have nice extra adjustments such as remote control of the light intensity. And I get the impression that the positioning at the top of the monitor screen could be ideal to avoid shadows or reflections. I just ordered one (there are lots of positive reviews for screenlights, where folks indicate it is one of their best office setup purchases!)

I noticed you have almost frameless monitor. Doesn't the light press on screen area? I am not able to identify it easily from video. Thanks.

Aren't you straining your vision to see the screen though the extra light and the reflection on the screen if it's on top? Sounds like under the screen but not flush to the desk would be more effective

Wondering this myself. Just doesn’t seem like the best positioning

I believe you can adjust them so that the focus of the cone of light doesn’t hit your eyes or the screen itself because of the angle.

it lights your desk (keyboard and mouse) but not your face. You can adjust the angle with those light bars.

That’s the difference between benq (og) and xiaomi’s. BenQ offer asymmetrical lighting so it’s only projecting light toward the desk but not toward the monitor screen. Xiaomi’s is rly just a strip of LEDs. Got the Benq and never looked back!

I also have same question, as I'm a graphic designer, still looking for answer, or I may have to try one .... And find the answer myself.

I had no idea these even existed. I want the BenQ but it's kind of pricey. Will probably go with the Baseus.
