My question would be. Can you use wired and wireless backhaul too at the same time if you have the 2.5g varient and need a 2.5 8x switch to connect all your xe75 pros with 2.5 gigabit speed?

I hate these promotional videos, I actually want a review of the product, with its pros and cons and with some suggestions if it's worth to update your setup ... not a 7 minutes long commercial 🤔

This was pretty much in line with other reviews i've seen on the Deco XE75. I just ordered one. Sounds like a fantastic mesh router, especially for that price. And it's on sale on Amazon right now.

@@kdkseven I know, and that's the problem. I'm not saying this is a bad product, it's quite good, but a review like this is not a review. For example, not one mention to its three 1 gigabit ports (the standard now is at least one 2.5 gigabits port, if not more), or its HomeShield feature which it's an absolute shame (some basic feature behind a monthly paywall, where in the previous models they were free), or the lack of advanced configuration features (like channel selection and many others), or the lack of a proper web interface (for now there is only a basic one), and so on. Not one mention that in some houses settings it's better to have a 5Ghz signal instead of the new 6Ghz one, because of signal propagation, and in this scenario the model X75 it's a better choice than XE75. Both X75 and XE75 are new models, and TP-Link made available both of them at the same time because of this (and other factors that I am not here to list). A proper review should have said all this and more ... this is why I hate these "commercials" (as I like to call them).

The dedicated 6E backhaul is awesome. With a two story home both upstairs, where the primary is located, and downstairs have the same speed to devices. With my previous system the upstairs was fast but downstairs was about half speed of the upstairs connection. This alone made the upgrade worth it!

I just replaced my router. I've looked at TP-Link, stand alone units as well as the mesh, I own an AX4400 from TP-Link which is a nice router, and stable. I have a 1 bedroom apartment so mesh is overkill since I get reliable signal all over from a single router. With that said, I went with the Asus RT-AX86U. I like the Asus software better than TP-Link, especially the web management. Plus the only WiFi 6 device I own is my iPhone 12 Pro Max. I also wanted to mention that I have Spectrum 1G internet, and my late 2013, 13" MBP can pull up to 900 Mbps down, even though it's a WiFi 5 device. The Asus also offers a 2.5G Ethernet port that is either a LAN, or WAN port. Most of my major devices are hard wired. I've heard good things about the TP-Link Deco system though, I just wanted more options available to me. I'll consider WiFi 6E really ready for the average user when multi-gig internet is mainstream and people have more devices that can take advantage of the higher bandwidth. As far as the iPhone 12 Pro Max, I've gotten it to pull up to 830 Mbps.

Excellent review. I noticed on the WiFi screen on your pixel, you had the 6ghz band and then WiFi. Are you able to split the 2.4 and 5ghz or do they work like the Orbi's whereby it just shows one band and then the router selects the best band for each device? Also I've read that the new update allows you to use the 6ghz AND have it for the backhaul, whereas previous it could only be used for the backhaul, do you know if this is correct?

TP-Link does it once again. This is a KISS solution for normals which is something I love, and hate at the same time. Yes WiFI 6E mess device(s) well serve anyone well over the years. I use TP-Link Deco X20 WiFI 6 with Ethernet backhaul. Always use wired Ethernet when you can, and at least for the wired backhaul. TP-Link does not let you set things in advanced that you can with other manufactures mess devices. Would be nice to have that option.

I just reset a Linksys wifi router mesh system for a client. What a pile of crap that Linksys is. The software to set it up and the tech support needed was worthless. The Apple devices my client uses would identify the network was unsecured and drop the signal quickly. The tech support assured me it would take 10 minutes to fix the problem - I stopped responding to their suggestions after an hour as nothing they suggested worked to solve the issue. This client, a woman in her late 50’s, retired and livingin a 1920 4,500 sq ft home, was suggested by Comcast / Xfinity to replace the Apple network I originally set up for her with the garbage Linksys mesh. It worked okay until it didn’t and she reset the system taking out all original settings. She simply did not need a DOD level of security. She needed her stuff to work as it did on the aged Apple Wifi system. I tried to make the Linksys mesh work but in the end switched her back to the Apple Wifi with two routers in series to cover more of her home. I might test these TP link XE75’s at my home to see if it will work for clients.

Getting 6E now means buying into expensive routers when few to no devices support Wifi 6, let alone 6E. Wifi 5 is still the dominant standard for most consumer devices. If you want new routers, ask yourself how many devices in your home support Wifi 6/6E. No matter the answer, Wifi 6 ones will give you most of the performance you need for less cash.
@GregsGadgets
@GregsGadgets 2 жыл бұрын
6e gives you the dedicated 6GHz spectrum though and for $300 for a mesh system it’s kind of hard to argue it’s too expensive. I always like to future proof, and 6e is one of the bigger jumps in Wi-Fi technology.
@DrMacintosh
@DrMacintosh 2 жыл бұрын
@@GregsGadgets It definitely gives you that 6GHz spectrum which is great, if you have devices that can really take advantage of it or if you're in a network crowded environment. Not saying 6E is worthless, it's just not common enough on consumer devices to warrant using it yet imo.
