Just a note about TDS meters. They only measure the conductivity of water. The 2 probes that you insert in water send an electrical signal that then measure resistance from one to the other. This gives an estimated ppm (particulates per million) of conductive particulates like minerals and salt (higher conductivity means there is more minerals, just like electrolytes are required for your nervous system to function properly). Micro-plastics for instance aren't conductive and therefore cannot be measured by a Total Dissolved Solids meter. This is why distilled water shows 0 ppm, all minerals and conductive particulates have been removed. In order to know how many different kinds of individual contaminants are present in your water, you need to send in samples for lab tests. I wanted to clarify this since some people might get very anxious about drinking high ppm water that might in fact be very low in contaminants and actually very healthy.

We are both 73 years old. I have been a raw foodists for 23 years, my wife has been raw since birth. We have the same distiller as the one in this video and we love it and the results we get from drinking distilled water. Here is a tip for you. We only distill for 4.5 hours and end up with about a 1/2 inch of water left in the distiller. This way you dond get any crust and junk stuck to the bottom of the distiller. Cleaning is so much easier using this method. We just dump out the water and spray some vinegar and wipe the stainless steel, then rinse.

I'm surprised that you left this out, or in case you may not know it. Distilled water would act like a "solvent" and rid your body of excess calcium, which most of seem to have. That would mean, little to no gall, liver, kidney stones, and less hardening of the arteries. And yes, freeing the Pineal Gland.

What do you mean that most seem to have excess calcium? What are the statistics that support that idea? You're right that water is a solvent, but it DOES NOT dissolve calcium in the body! What are you on about? It doesn't rid the body of anything. The kidneys, liver and lungs to that. The causes of gall and kidney stones are MUCH more complex that just 'excess' calcium, and 'hardening' of arteries even more so! Come on, man! Great video. 300ppm doesn't mean over 300 different things ppm is a measurement of concentration which in this case ppm is a measurement of mg/L, there is over 300mg/L of dissolved solids in the tap water so that could be a range of whatever they put into the water.

Great informational video. Another super important fact I would add about plastic bottled water is that 100% of all plastic bottle brands have a decent amount of micro plastics that dissolve into the water. So many manufactures now a day like boasting that they're plastic is BPA free, but most bottles which is usually recycled plastics, over time have weaker and looser molecular structures because of the compositing process, thus the end result is that micro size plastics end up leaching off the walls of the bottle and contaminate the water. Though it may not be reactive BPA plastics, any kind of plastic in the body is not assimilated nore digested, so it accumulates, leading to health issues that are not well known or even studied. But I do understand, in a world with 7billion people and growing, its the most sustainable way of providing water to the population, which is better then not having access to no portable water, or drinking from the tap water which is undoubtedly toxic at many higher levels then water bottles. One quick research into distilled water however reveals that it does not get rid of harsh chemicals like chlorine and harmful substances because they too are distilled along with the water. How about doing a reverse osmosis combined with a 2nd step involving distillation? I know there are many parts of the world that don't have access to clean water or even water bottles and much less for reverse osmosis machines, so I can see that distillation is still better then nothing. I would like to think of ideas of distillation combined with a 2nd step process to remove any remaining chemicals, any ideas? like passing it through sand, sediment, rocks, and earth grabble ?
@matthewtoms7461
@matthewtoms7461 Жыл бұрын
These machines do have like a secondary filtration which is the carbon filter. When you get a reading of 0 PPM you know it’s clean. This will depend how often you clean the carbon filter out but it’ll be extremely low anyway. I know that during brandy/whisky distillation etc the first and last 5 or 10 percent of distillation is waste as it is less pure. I guess this process could also apply to water distillation. They are very different substances but worth a thought
@matthewtoms7461
@matthewtoms7461 Жыл бұрын
You could take water from a rain water harvesting filter which could be your different grade sands or gravels or ash/charcoal and then put it through distillation. It’ll be a much cleaner product than tap water and so much easier to clean the machine after use. Just a wipe out with a cloth (no descaling)

@@waldek32 Google research reveals that chlorine does not come out from distilled water. so apparently anything that is chemically based evaporates along with the water. its only good for heavier elements like salts, minerals, sediments, and other microsized contaminents. but it does not filter out a big list of other things which is why I think running the distilled water after through carbon and sediment filter would be a great idea to get rid of what distillation cant

My distiller does not get that dirty, probably because we have well water as apposed to that horrible city water. And I have a timer on my distiller that stops it before it is empty. This makes it 100 times easier to clean. I pour vinegar into it and fill it with water, run it for about 3 hours, with the top off, about once a week and it comes perfectly clean. Be carful everyone! you can drink distilled water by itself, HOWEVER, since distilled water is void of everything (besides H2O) including its own minerals, it has a tendency to pull them from *whatever it touches* to maintain a balance. It literally acts like a sponge (kind of like the same way activated charcoal does), absorbing anything it touches (i.e., minerals, vitamins, gut bacteria, plastic [if it's in a plastic container] , air-dust pollutants [if it is sitting out unsealed, etc, etc... You get my point), So when you drink distilled water, it may pull small amounts of minerals from your body, including from your teeth. drinking distilled water leaches minerals from your body and could put your health at risk If you are only drinking distilled water and have a bad diet. While the human body can get plenty of these minerals from the food we include in a healthy diet, such as fruits and vegetables and other foods developed from plants, if you are not eating the right foods that will give your body the minerals & nutrients it needs in the right amounts you can potentially really do harm to your body, so be aware *(but don't take my word for it... Of course you should look up/research what I'm taking about yourself so you know and understand what you are doing and what you need to to in order to properly and safely consume distilled water).* If you want to avoid all of this then *you need to Remineralize your distilled water* by purchasing then adding "Trace minerals" (i.e., calcium, magnesium, potassium and phosphorus.) to your distilled water before you drink it. This will keep the distilled water from absorbing anything it comes in contact with. Again research this yourself... I'm just some stranger on the internet, so you should use your critical thinking skills (If you were ever even taught in school what critical thinking actually is, let alone how to use it), have a healthy amount of skepticism and not blindly trust what I say. I could be %100 full of shit for all you know, lol.

TDS is not the count of "different solids" it's the resulting electric conductivity of salts calculated into a parts-per-million value. 300 PPM (parts-per-million) is like saying there's a 0.03% composition (of the total volume) that's interfering the electric charge moving through the water. Most of this 300 number spans minerals like calcium, magnesium, sodium and copper (this is driven most on your home pipes being PEX or galvanized steel or copper plus if you're water runs through a water softener if it's a hard source. The balance typically might involve chlorine or chloramine that municipalities add to remove bactera. Distillation and Reverse Osmosis removes these, which is a good idea all around.

@N F There's a video on here where a guy in America fills different jug filters, and sends the samples to a laboratory where it's tested for a wide variety of contaminants and other stuff. The Zero Water filter scored very low. The Brita filter was better, although not the best. Just because the TDS is zero doesn't mean the water isn't contaminated with stuff that does not dissolve in water.

@@walterhess8147 yes i think we would be naive to think that those who poison the water don't also promote the snake oil fixes and i feel brita/zero/berkey are a part of that to make money off the issue. i am also cynical about who owns the labs but that is another story. some of those filters when tested seem to take out some nasties but put other nasties in and sweeten the water so there is a taste difference. just my take on it

@@walterhess8147 Well said about TDS, I suspect something has gone weird with the store jugs of distilled and purified this year, I'm getting bad effects on my body and healthy, when previously it eas great for years. They still measure 0 but taste is off and bad effects, strange. Hence why I am looking to get my own distiller.

@@PhotoboothDubaiUAE Good points I have the same concerns. Zero Water never made me feel as good as distilled, noticeably worse difference. And now for me anyway store distilled jugs have started to make me feel bad after being great for 8 years, starting just recently in 2023. Time for my own distiller, hopefully will be back to normal.

Thank you so much for such a great tip!!! I thought distilled water was toxic for humans (that's what I heard many years ago when I purchased a glass of 100% pure distilled water that mechanics use for car batteries). That's why I am still drinking tap water and yes, the amount of dirt and the residues look like tartar, it's disgunsting. I'm gonna buy a water filter or a water distiller next month, THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I think that in order to have fully rounded out your TDS tests, you should have also included ocean water, lake water, mountain stream water & underground/well/aquifer water. We have underground pumped well water, but we don't consume it, we only use the well water for showers, dishwashing, toothbrushing, we don't ingest it for fear of any health risks, including the iron bacteria in our water. Some say the Fe bacteria is generally ok, but we still fear it, heh. I am thinking of getting a distiller such as those Vevor 10-gallon setups.

Well done, good video. I’ve been on this path for many years now as well. I started off distilling my tap water in London and yes it stinks as well as leaving so much scale after just one boil. Cleaning the scale I used citric acid which is the least toxic option and very effective. I moved on from tap water and experimented with rain water that was collected for my garden. This worked out much better, tastes the same and even after many boils all you need to do it wipe it out with a cloth. Enjoy 👍🏻✌🏻

Glad I watched this video, thanks for this. We have a filter at home and im pretty sure it doesnt get rid of everything because it still tastes a bit off to me. The fam is fine drinking that but i get mine from those outdoor refilling water stations (I live in Cyprus) however i still use those plastic 20L bottles to store it. Trying to switch to something else either glass or stainless. I have a question though, so i know distilled is better than tap because they advise to give it to plants. Some plants die when given tap water, and the soil in some of my pots is starting to go white on top from gathering all the limescale... Anyway my q is wouldn't the boiling of the water extract that solid matter that we're trying to get rid of and put it back in the water? I know it's still better though

When distilling water, the water becomes a gas which is light so it easily passes through the coils in the lid. The gunk is heavy and falls to the bottom of the distiller. I put a teaspoon of Activated charcoal in the water before distilling. It takes out any residue smell and taste.

306 dissolved solid parts per million, not 306 different kinds of solids. But point well received :) I'm looking for a water distiller that does NOT use a filter. Why would pure condensed steam have any smell or taste?

Yeah I messed up there! Interesting. I haven't been able to find one without a filter. I read that the filter helps to eliminate any bad smell or taste when the water comes out (because the water is still hot from the tank where all the dirt and toxins are). The filter gets rid of the smell left behind from the distilling process. Also the fact it has 0 PPM does prove its completely clean but totally see your point. Let me know what you end up purchasing won't you? Thanks for watching :)

@D Rutter In my understanding, the carbon filter helps catch the VOC's (Volatile Organic Compounds) that are dissolved in the water and get off-gassed during distillation. Since they have a boiling point less than that of water, they will begin to vaporise sooner and a carbon filter may be the most efficient fix to catch them through adsorption (not absorption) to prevent them from reaching the pure water at the end. Changing the carbon filter regularly is imperative to maintain the purity of the final product.
