as person who is rapidly approaching 50, I realize that the only constant is change. I can look at how my parents believed the world should be and I look at how my daughter thinks the world should be and I see that the world is always changing. My old mentor told me this about work " when you think you know everything about this job, quit, you're probably the worst person on the team". I feel the same applies to life. If you think you know it all and you have every topic locked down, you've lost the game. The older I get the more I know that I know nothing.

On the first date advice around 1:35:00: Call every restaurant you're considering and just ask how much the most expensive main on their menu is, don't take a date anywhere you can't easily afford four times that amount (two appetizers, two mains, two desserts, two to four drinks, tip). Surprisingly, I've had two dates that paid for dinner themselves, but of course those didn't last for any significant amount of time. I tried to offer and they just shut me down, not gonna complain, it's quite nice. I'll do something simple like olive garden or Applebee's or some shit. No Papadeux for anyone in this house until like date 10.

I got in one fight in 9th grade. This big football player was pushing and punching me. What he didn't know is that I was on the wrestling and judo teams. So I flipped him. The PE teacher sat us down in the cafeteria and told us to think about what we'd done during the weekend and that on Monday he would tell us our punishment. Then he never brought it up again. There was no punishment.

Funny incident. A guy once literally pushed me down the stairs in school. I was hurt and went to my elder brother in his class cause I thought 'that's what you're supposed to do' as a kid sister. My brother's response was literally "so what" . It pissed me off so much that I first beat his ass infront of his class teacher and then beat up the kid who pushed me . Needless to say that the teacher remembered the whole incident and when she became my incharge, she told me the first day that the incident had greatly traumatized her 😂😂😂

NEVER FOLLOW THIS ADVICE IF THE BULLY IS POPULAR AND THEY'RE NOT OPENLY PHYSICALLY VIOLENT! Hitting back and screaming can work with the misunderstood kid who can't control their emotions, but most true bullies are little sociopaths that are actually looking for that response and will fuck with you even worse, physically and socially. ESPECIALLY if they're the kind of people that are popular and keep bullying others to bring them down and feel better by thinking they're superior. The best thing you can do in that case is to behave confidently, not giving them fuel for the fire by getting cocky, but not showing fear or compliance to be abused either. IGNORE THEM WHEN POSSIBLE. DON'T PLAY INTO A SOCIOPATH'S GAME. Also make an effort to befriend at least a few popular or strong kids who are not in the bully's social circle and who will have your back if shit breaks down, and be sure to let adults know if the bullying gets too constant since it can get bad. I managed to avoid bullies for most of my school life, but since I was friends with a lot of "loser" guys I saw my share of ugly shit done against them, and retaliating always made things worse. I also got a kid who almost killed me in 6th grade. Third world experience and all that...
@logui113
@logui113 2 ай бұрын
@@jorgeporras9262 that's fair enough, I did abridge a lot of it, you're right that you shouldn't play into the games of people and ignoring it fully at first is probably the best way to go but I just didn't go into the full details of each possible case, also to be fair I was fairly lucky to avoid bullies other than minor annoyances here and there
@oceanicGrimalkin

@@logui113 It's kinda hard to say because, depending on the setting, you keep getting bullied because you're too meek or the bully bullies you anyway because they know fighting back also has its negative consequences (also from a 3rd world thing, but I don't think third world is all that special when it comes to something as common as that and also depends on the neighborhood). I honestly prefer to fight back, though, even if it's through non-physical means.

I think everyone's missed the point of this post. The point is that those who "afford" a lot of stuff are either in a lot of debt, are going without basics, are rich through either their own efforts or through relationships and family connections, or a lot of their stuff is knock-off. In other words, it's a game of charades and "keeping up with the Jones''". We don't really know what or through which method they can afford all this stuff and it really doesn't matter. Knowing how different the boys' takes can be, there might actually be a few really good advices in here that are accompanied by absolute clownery
@MrRickulus
@MrRickulus 2 ай бұрын
I think the boys are way off the mark on the confession thing. If you have a crush, the best thing to do is confess (in a low-pressure manner) and ask if they share feelings/wish to do anything with that. Then, if they want to be romantic, perfect. If not, then you should take some time (a lot of modern psychology says 6-12 weeks) where you minimize contact to give your romantic feelings time to fade. Then, if you still wish to be platonic friends, it should be easier not to fall into the mental trap of "the friend zone." The issue most folks seem to end up in is never addressing the feelings and then continuing a friendship. Then, your investment in the relationship is, partially or entirely, with a romantic connotation. While your friend invests in a platonic relationship.

If you are in middle or high school then you need to be cautious. There's nothing wrong with a chill confession but try to at least pick up some social cues over time whether they may like you or not. I think their advice was more towards social awkward/inept men who they may not understand social cues yet. You don't want to cold confess to your crush but she doesnt think you are close at all so it comes out of nowhere. For adult dating you are right, it's completely different and there's nothing wrong with being more straightforward. But the social consequences can be really bad especially in middle school where you have to see everyone every day

The bullying situation. That's a tough one when you're the big guy. I was constantly harassed cause I grew before everyone else did. I did "fight" back once I bear hugged the kid who was hitting me while everyone else threw rocks at me until the teacher came. I was seen as the aggressive party. The other kids played victim and said they were throwing rocks to get me to let go of the kid. After that I learned i could never defend myself. And things only got worse for me. Or maybe you have some deep-set psychological issues with past racial bullying or something, which in that case dang I'm sorry that was your experience.

Yeah, just don't be so invested in racism. Without context we never know what is considered racist by the questioner. The odd joke probably isn't indicative of deep rooted prejudice, its just that they grew up in a time where stereotypes were funny. Often old people have race based banter, but it doesn't mean they hate each other

Oh that's actually a well known apologue! Basically, it describes a frog boiling in a pot of water. If it heats up gradually, the frog doesn't realize it's in a dangerous situation until it's too late and it can't jump out anymore. But when the water is already boiling, the frog jumps out immediately because it wasn't give time to adapt.

I'd say it's always worth it to confess to your crush as long as you're willing to take no for an answer and make peace with that. My way of approaching it is not to say "Will you date me?" but more "I just want you to know how I feel, no pressure or expectation, and whatever happens is up to you." People appreciate that you're being straightforward, and even though acceptance is never guaranteed, I've gotten lucky that the men and women in my life are so chill.

I can confirm, as someone who graduated high school in 2020, we do learn about taxes in high school. Economics class was required to graduate at my high school. Only problem is we learned about it in like 1 week or so and that was it. It wasn't that hard to understand tho cuz the tax form itself tells you what to fill in, in what box, and where to find the required information if necessary.

They just make you fill in the forms and like to judge whether your claims are accurate to the governments - plus the opportunity to claim deductions. For the avergae person it's easy, but people are intimidated anyways. Can get more complicated for upper-middle class and the upper class when they try to claim every litttle thing, search for loopholes, have assets like investments, etc. - which actually is a similar process for many countries.

On the thing about toxic relationships:gaslighting is very powerful. I was in one. And other people didn’t tell me how bad it was (mainly cos they didn’t know) i was still friends with this specific ex for a few years. It wasn’t until I met my current girlfriend that I took a step back and realized just how toxic he was. When I realized that, I cut all ties with him and blocked him anywhere he knew my social media accounts at. Edit:currently in a healthy relationship right now. And every time she doesn’t get angry or annoyed with something that I did, I end up crying a bit cos I’m thinking. “So this is what a healthy relationship is like?”

Laying on your back with pillow put one under your legs 3. Side sleepers left side, right side youll get heart burn. Pillow in between your legs to keep pressure off your pelvis and you can hug another pillow never sleep on your arm. 4. From my experience, movie dates never worked due to not knowing the person enough and being stuck with the person for 2 hours. Cafe dates is a good starting point to get the know the person more and flexible to bounce out when things are not working.
@HouseMDaddict
@HouseMDaddict Ай бұрын
I've never been on a movie date but it definitely would seem awkward to me to not be able to talk or interact with them at all for 2+ hours, if this was the first time meeting them. I've gone on dates with people I sort of knew for a few months to a comedy show or a movie, but that was someone where I already sort of knew their "vibe" and you could hold their hand and stuff at that point. I'm always down for the cafe date or a lunch date. Dinner dates...not a first date, at least as someone who is female, I don't really enjoy the idea of meeting someone for the first time at night. Plus if the date sucks, you are now ending your day with a crappy experience. At least if it's a lunch date, you can continue the date and go to a local market or walk in the park or something if it's a good date, and if it's a bad date, you can treat yourself to a nice dinner or hang out with friends after the date. 🤷🏻‍♀️.

The way the boys talked about how they felt in a toxic relationship just hit me like a train. Because that is how I felt with my ex-friend group. I constanlty felt like I had to proove to them over and over again how much I value the friendship. And I always felt horrible for not being able to be there for them when they needed my support. And it didn'T help that my parents were a bit similar in that sense albeit not as extreme. But I felt torn between my friends and my family and it always resulted in me feeling like I am the worst daughter AND the worst friend on this planet. And the ultimately worst part is that the toxic people normally don't even know they are toxic. I even questioned myself whether I was the toxic one in the group or not. Because it was my opinion against 3 of them banned together. It make me think I was the arsehole. But from an outsider perspective they clearly thought they were in the right as to how to treat my emotions because they are in the majority. I am confident that they still think they are right and feel no remorse as to how they emotionally harmed me. And I almost feel bad for them.
