Good stuff, I figured that h2 and 3 would help it out. Bummer the steel doesn't run as reliable, but like you said, probably do to underpowered rounds not having the pressure to push that bolt as hard as needed. I'd say the h1 or carbine buffer and spring would probably be your best bet to have a chance to run steel and swap for the h2 or 3 for brass munitions. Good stuff bud!

I was curious on what buffer and spring combo too, since the WOT package calls for a H2 buffer. I called Geissele and they recommended their H3 and spring package ($99) when running a FRT trigger in a 7.5" AR pistol. They said their spring was 15% more stiff than a standard spring. FYI. Thanks for the video and helpful information.

Just a thought worth considering: When I had a problem with steel case ammo, it turned out to be that the rings on my bolt carrier group were worn. I changed out the rings and didn't have any more problems with steel case ammo. Cheers!

Can’t say I own one….but I know a guy who used a spring tech red buffer spring, with a 5.5oz buffer weight and a nickel boron BCG. It emptied a 30 round mag in about 3 seconds. Came out to about 600 rounds per minute. A lighter BCG may help the guy I know increase his rate of fire. Also he used green tip brass.
@SHOTS-FIRED2 жыл бұрын
My psa 10.5 with a h2 and wot runs steel fine. 60rd mag dumps without any issues. Brass will cycle faster though. I loaded 20 steel then 20 brass in my mag and you can clearly see the speed change when it switches to brass

Thinking about getting one. I've got an Odin Works adjustable buffer so hopefully I can get it tuned in. Also welcome to North Carolina.

@Nicholas Armock I'm running all Tungsten weights in the Odin Works and I'm around 500 rounds in without any issues.

@Nicholas Armock nice! I ordered some extra tungsten weights from a place called pure tungsten, they are the most reasonable price wise I've found.

H3 is my set up . My wot is wicked with the H3. I learned also you can run a H1 buffer with a grisselle spring the spring compensates for wright

the steel does not slide as easy so it takes some of the return force off the trigger reset. A Wolf XP spring will help

Do you have an adjustable gas block on there? I've seen a few comments recommending opening the gas port to max to run steel case. Or if you can't run at all after changing buffer weights to try an adjustable gas block. I would rather try that than drill out a barrel.
@Nerdgonesouth2 жыл бұрын
No, gas port isn't adjustable. Interesting thought though.

I have never had good luck with steel or aluminum case ammo in any of my AR's. Not that they wouldn't fire, but they wouldn't cycle. Brass is best!

Weigh your buffers and write the weight on the side of the buffer with a permanent marker. There is nothing “wrong” with your original buffer. Just buy a pack of titanium buffer weights so you can tune you buffers.

Not saying I have a WOT but steel is nothing but an issue with the WOT. Brass green tip is best. A 5.5oz buffer may be tested tomorrow buy someone lol

H3 didn't work stock weight runs it get about 6 rounds then I have to charge it each time. Walking pins are tight, mil spec everything, so idk what's going on with it. Kinda pissed off with it.

Could be your buffer spring, what rifle setup do you have?
@zenrider_962211 күн бұрын
@kikibarrios1231 it's one of the ones from ruger I'll have to double check the exact model. I got a full auto bcg I'm gonna try and the twisted buffer spring upgrade. And see how it does then. I've also got an Odin adjustable buffer weight.
