I always wondered why don’t they just continue to live in the vaults and bring constant trade and farms around it

you could access the termial, but the vault breaking down (and the robot passive-aggressivelly pointing out that they have been manulally keeping the vault running for months after reclamation day) are recent addition

Seems like Vault 76 kept psychopaths ironically. That doesn't mean that us, the players are phsy, but I mean "I Am Become Death" is a mandatory quest... Does that confirm our theories?

@@LuisDiaz-fs5pm and that's the indication of how little it actually mattered to the higher ups: every other vault either had a very specific kind of individual as the overseer to , or it failed by the end of the first generation due to internal struggle regardless of which kind of experiment was being made in, or survived because the experiments never could be performed (like vault 81 or 16)

Using the Power Armor glitch I can get a nuke launched in about 3 minutes. You can skip pretty much everything except the launch sequence.

Would also provide an excuse to use the vault for something other than a starting area you can’t visit again once you leave. Maybe as a place for allies such as Beckett and Daguerre to stay when they aren’t out with you at your camp.

The mixed messages dont help either. On one hand theyre saying,"Mail in votes only! You cant do it in person because its not safe!" while with the other hand by closing damn near everything they are forcing everybody to go to the same grocery store and stand in line...but thats okay because...reasons. And at first people who were protesting the lock downs because they just wanted to get back to work (so they could, ya know, feed their family and not get kicked out of their home) were called "dangerous" and "threats to society" (even though they were social distancing and wearing masks). Yet after the riots started, those very same hecklers forgot completely about the virus and instead started cheering for the rioters who were standing shoulder to shoulder without masks. Kinda makes you wonder, eh?

Yeah, having a pre-determined open date regardless of the circumstances outside, the vault shutting itself down once its opened, no GECK and no possibility to return to the vault if things dont go well because the vault is now uninhabitable...it does sound fishy indeed.

vault 94 had a GECK if I recall correctly and it opened a year after the bombs fell. I guess all of the other vaults had the purpose lo make things easier for the ones in 76

76 was a pr stunt, as it closed down about a year before the bomb dropping; either the war would have de-escalated, and the experiment stopped altogether, or it would have opened into an area relativelly safe from the blunt of the bombardment late enough to make a difference

Actually, the tape appears if a) you've already collected the Overseer's holotape from the site and b) someone launches a nuke at anything besides a fissure. (It doesn't have to be Fissure Site Prime, but as long as you've targeted a fissure, her nibs doesn't seem to mind. Drop one on Whitesprings, though, and the next person to arrive at Site Alpha gets an earful...)

Agree if you launch on the fissure site its a whole different holo

@@WidgeonTV I really don't have any ideas. The first one is way too small to be a nuke hit and when I went to the second one down the mountain there were super mutants fighting a sheepsquatch. I tried looking for any clues but I didn't find any.

76 nukes don't do explosions naturally they mostly do radiation damage, perhaps the government tried only explosions with little radiation damage, then once successful (via the crater) reversed the process for a radiation missile.

It *says* 76 is a control vault. On the other hand, it's a vault where people with advanced degrees and high expertise in a number of fields have to do all the mundane crap jobs necessary to running a vault. Check the security terminal next time you start a character; fun bits like the guy who complains about being a soda jerk with his advanced technical degrees, and demands a promotion to line cook.

It is kind of strange. What if it wasn't? Even if it was really bad outside the vault would still kick them out after 25 years. Seems like a huge gamble.

I 100% believe that Vaul-Tec is alive and is in a special Vault (a "Vault-Zero" or whatever it may be called). Reason? They spent TONS of time, resources and money setting up all of these vaults and setting up all of these experiments. No one is going to spend YEARS worth of time and TONS of money and resources on something if it isn't 100% guaranteed it's happening. The only way they would devote that much time and resources is if they knew WHEN those nukes were going to drop (none of their experiments can begin in those vaults if those nukes don't drop.. so they would need those nukes to drop. Wouldn't surprise me if they were the ones that set off the first nuke. They didn't have access to the nukes in West Virginia, but they could have had access to a nuke somewhere else and fired that to start a chain reaction where American and China thought one of them set off the first nuke). Anyway, if they know the exact day and time the nukes were going to start, they would have ran to a special Vault specifically made for themselves... one that was capable of monitoring all the other vaults (and somehow be able to monitor the actions of Vault dwellers who left the Vaults... most likely using the Pip Boys to keep track of all the main characters from Fallout 1, 2, 3, 4, New Vegas, 76, etc, etc, etc, as well as their interactions with others).

It appears on a list of D.C. Area vaults. That's not remotely the D.C. Area.

@@jaxsonshaw996 Most of the D.C. Area is outside of D.C.. There were actually no vaults in D.C. in Fallout 3, and Vault 76 is nowhere near the D.C. Area let alone D.C.. The list of vaults in the Pentagon where Vault 76 is found is titled D.C. Area Vaults.

Because your character is not the best and brightest? If you character looks young then they are one who borned at the vault not one who was chosen for it.
