Rabin was fantastic - but don't forget the genius Wieniawski, who not only wrote but played it 150 years ago!! The man was far ahead of his time, and only lived to 45.

He was not ahead of his time, we are behind our own time by a very substantial degree. If you think of the music composed over 100 years ago in the 19th century, and compare it to top hits today, you can see it is more due to our degeneration than how avant garde they were

Best staccato and trills I've ever heard. Rabin had it all.

What an excellent performance! First Movement: 0:08 Second Movement: 12:09 Last Movement: 15:58 Few notes from a music enjoyer (me): In the recording, they most likely skipped the intro due to the length of recording they could put on an LP back then. I think that it's amazing that we can enjoy this marvelous recording! Michael Rabin was quite anxious and depressed throughout his whole career and died unexpectedly in 1972. It is unfortunate that only a few number of us remember him today, but he truly is an amazing player. His violin is the 1735 Guarneri del Gesù also known as the "Kubelik, Rabin". The violin has a really unique, smooth sound that can be heard throughout Rabin's recordings. Korean violinist Kyung-Wha Chung (who's also is an awesome violinist!) plays on the violin now, so check her out also if you are interested! Hope you're having a great day, happy listening!

Yes incredibly expressive. He proves his touching expressiveness in the most impressive manner in the Chopin Nocturne 0p. 27 No.2.

Si è veramente unico. La versione di Perlman però è quasi uguale per quanto riguarda quello ultimo livello di virtuosismo e bellezza pura.

Why didn't they play the whole intro?
@eriknystrom58394 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I was going to ask the same thing.
@ra96504 жыл бұрын
No, it's not because of that.They used to cut orchestras parts because back than there wasn't to much recording space on the vinyl.
@geigenatelierbrusch4692 жыл бұрын
That would need have been good.

Perfect performance But I'm a little confused, dose anyone knows why orchestral parts are different? Many of them are too longer at the beginning of 1st mov but here solo part starts after a shorter part of tutti !
@RE-nv4we19 күн бұрын
Some conductor's find the intro to be excessively long and do that improvised cut. Also happens at 7:00. These are choices done by the conductor, not the publisher.

So much better than what I heard recently from Ray Chen' vulgar interpretation. What happened to the beautiful golden age tone nowadays ???
@heifetz144 ай бұрын
Ray Chen bit off more than he could chew. This concerto is for the cream of the crop. There is an amazing performance of Himari playing this at 11 years old. It is with piano and is on youtube.

Great question, i sometimes wish I were born a century ago ..
@marcvilleneuve18893 ай бұрын
@@Mdudapiano I heard live several times Oistrach, Kogan, Szeryng, Francescatti... Unforgettable. They projected more in the concert hall than any violinists nowadays. Oistrach in the recital was unmatched and also, he had two hours of music in his programs, very diversified, playing with great inspiration.

what a pity that his bow stopped at such a young age. it seems me that it is the best i heard. it is so pathetic that both the composer and the player died young. is something wrong with the jewish ADN of musical genius.
@williamtell67506 ай бұрын
In Wieniawski's case, excessive use of alcohol may have been part of the reason. The life of a travelling virtuoso was not easy. I believe that he died in poverty.
@user-op6vy3gg2b Жыл бұрын
Wieniawski's mistake. He composed this piece too difficult for most of the violin students. Starting with 10th . Thus not popular.
