Join me for Part 1 of a trip into the quiet and majestic mountains of the Carneddau. I explore the crash site of the tragic Canberra Jet accident, exploring the wreckage, high up on Carnedd Llywelyn. I then return to camp above Cwm Eigiau for a well earned meal and a good night's sleep.

Man, you have access to such beautiful terrain Joss, so jealous of your back garden. I think it's really good that they've made that an official war grave and that they've left the wreckage there to remind people. Love that tent. Looking forward to part 2. Lee

A great video, of an area of the Carneddau I know so well. The last time I visited the lake, around four years ago, that wheel and tyre were in the lake itself, on the very corner on the right side facing Llewelyns summit. Obviously somebody has moved it, but what I found remarkable, is that all the lettering including the Dunlop writing is as clear as if the jet went down last year. Thank you for such a lovely video

Joss great video. I know only too well how sapping that tussocky grass is after climbing up to Gledrffordd from Llyn Eigiau the other month. It's definitely deceiving. We never made it to the lake instead skirting passed it and on to Foel Grach. Tragic accident and it's amazing that so much wreckage still remains. Wandering thereabouts some years ago, I came across an entire fuselage minus its skin, in the middle of pathless rough ground. Given how intact it was, I wondered if the crew had survived after performing an emergency landing? So much aircraft wreckage in the N Wales mountains. The appropriately named, remote 'Aero Gulley' under Aran Fawddwy is strewn with wreckage and quite a sombre place. Very few people will ever find themselves beneath the Aran cliffs as everyone comes in via the ridges.

My next adventure is, Carnedd Dafydd & Llewelyn. I would like to go to the crash site but struggling to find a route to it on the map.I know its on the other side of Llewelyn but, would you mind I I asked you for the post code you used to get there please. I know you went up a track and there wont be a post code for that, if not then it's not a problem I know you wouldn't want idiots up there destroying the place as I wouldn't...many thanks 😊
