My father had a drinking problem. He mostly knew how to criticize. Working on old cars was just a waste of time in his eyes. Later on in life he started to be more positive with me but for me it was too little too late. He died about 30 years ago and I didn't shed many tears over that.

At 66 years old, I have to agree with the guys saying how great it is, seeing you two working together. Besides your projects and content, it’s a thing that has made your’s one of my favorite channels. My Dad passed when he was 64, I miss him every day. A father’s lessons are golden. A son appreciating them and giving them back, just as golden. Thanks and keep it going.

Hi Travis, the reason that air hose is disintegrating could be the reel is close to the tin roof and absorbing heat even though it is in your car port. Combined with the lower quality "Chinese" rubber compound. Those tin roofs get increadably hot especially in your area of the USA. Regards from South Africa
@born_again_torinos

Also, the chinese are adding soy to the rubber they make. Tires are really suffering because of this.

Another wonderful episode! Going to be great to see another El Camino back on the road. Your work on the driveline bought back memories of swapping my 60 El Camino three speed for an aluminum close ratio T10 four speed. Being a dumb kid, my project planning skills were lacking, and I did not think about the T10 being longer than the three speed. I did not realize the issue until the three speed was out and sitting next to the T10 and I had rented some evening time during the week on a service station hoist to do the swap, so I was committed. But, back then there was one Chevrolet dealer parts department in town that stayed open late, and they had the shorter front part of the driveline in stock. Got the driveline swapped, just using hand tools and project completed. Kind of amazing to think about those kinds of parts being in stock nowadays let alone be available at night!

Back in the early 70's my family & I were on vacation crossing the mountains in West Viginia ... I was in the rear of our station wagon ( I was 8 or 9 yrs old) when I saw a wheel running down the road behind us... My mom was driving & I told my mom , there's a wheel rolling down the road... Its was our drivers side rear wheel ... My mom didnt get it off the interstate before it sat down on the hub... My dad was asleep when all this happened & he was yelling at my mother to get the wagon off the road... She could'nt ... My dad jumped out & realized the wheel was gone ... He recruited me to help find our wheel.. It was 100 yards up the side of the mtn , buried in grass & brush... We got towed to a garage where it was discovered all 5 lugs on the wheel broke off & the other wheels all had broken lugs... Right before we left for vacation my dad had new tires mounted ... Turns out , the idiot who used an impact to tighten the lug nuts , over tightened them .. All 4 wheels had to have new lug bolts installed.. When we got home , my father went back to the tire shop with a tow bill , a repair bill , and evidence of the broken lugs... The mngr started to deny any wrong doing until my dad grabbed him by the throat & explained to him that we could've been killed & that he was gonna pay for the damage or make a trip to the hospital.. My dad had a very short fuse & was a champion boxer while serving in the U.S. Navy .. Not to mention he was a stout man at first glance .. The man paid up & my dad also warned the mechanic who mounted the tires .. Using a 3/4 inch air impact was stupidity ... It is common practice to use a torque wrench today.. Back then it was common to tighten it as tight as you can & then half a turn more..

First of all I want to say happy Fourth of July, and I would also like to say that you guys are getting that sucker together. Hopefully one day I can get out to your neighborhood and meet you guys as your meeting with Chris and Jen that's great that's what it's all about. What I wanted to tell you is when you got a fire in the carburetor like that just hit the starter and suck it into the engine it'll save you a lot of time from catching stuff on fire that's for sure, I didn't know if you knew that or not but yeah that's an old trick we used to do. Anyway Travis it's nice to be watching more videos with you and your dad. That relationship that you guys have is great I used to do the same thing with my dad when I was younger, he's gone now for a long time and my time is also running short on this Old Blue Rock.
