Wild Wild West

2 жыл бұрын

Do you struggle with change? More specifically seeing old treasures from your early life go away? I sure do!
Roosters old California side loader cabover international is the truck that I learned to drive in. It was my bread and butter. My first love.. the rig that really made me feel like something as a 14 year old at the helm rolling the big roads.

Great stories of your dad and deciding as a father and protector that you were ready at such an age to not only have a faith in you to do the wheel-work but also to have the faith that he could trust you enough where he felt comfortable that you wouldn't endanger him or any other man and his loved ones! Try doing that today, and getting caught? Land of the free? Ha! , Why do we still fool ourselves? Shoot, i know plenty adults who i wouldn't trust with a shopping cart nevermind a 80,000 lb plus truck! Props to your dad and you!

Awesome story about learning to drive while rooster was sleeping same as my story I couldn’t tell you how many miles I ran back from 98 to 2000 with my step dad Tom in a 1994 western star all across Texas Louisiana New Mexico and Oklahoma I’d wake him up couple miles before the scales we would swap on the fly get past the scales he’d go back to bed I’d wake him up before the next state line I was 14 first time I thought I was the coolest kid ever we were turning so many miles we had 4 log books at one point that old star never stopped

But y'all got it done and no one got hurt that is all that matters. So you going to do Ol' Blue a total respect and make it a show truck? About 40 yrs ago I helped remove a truck body from a truck frame. Horace ,70 years old at the time, got under the truck, and in 20 minutes cut off 4 u bolts with an old fashioned Hand Powered Hack Saw. He thru them to a guy who said we needed to torch off and it couldn't be done by hand. btw....i got tons of battery powered tools myself, but not a battery band saw!! You got a great channel Jax. He was also a machinist, sharpened hand saws, AND an expert shot with his German Mauser. According to legend,HIS, he bagged 51 deer with 52 shots! And he drove an SS Camaro, at 70. Cool guy. Travel well Jax…… and heavy!!

I worked with a driver in the mid 70s, had a cabover freightliner, had a dead axle on front of tandem, it used v belts for winter driving, wheel spacers were v groove, belts ran from rear axle to front tandems. Later years, mid nineties, I talked to an older trucker,, he was 85 years old, DOT had him out service, told me first truck he drove had solid rubber tires, another truck later on he drove had a hand stick, Manuel linkage for trailer brakes.. I didn't doubt him..

I'm the daughter and a granddaughter of lifelong truckers. I've heard lots of stories of them hauling Cattle to the Omaha stockyards back in the 50's and 60's. My Dad started driving an old 1949 GMC stock farm truck at age 12 or 13. Dad went on in his adult years to be an over the road trucker for Pepsi-Cola in Omaha. He was with Pepsi for over 30 years. Like your Dad mine never had an empty load. The would haul flower and pasta from Omaha to the caves in KC and then bring back a load of empty pop to Omaha. We lost my Dad in 2016. Thank You so much for sharing your adventures. My Dad would have loved this channel and watching makes me feel closer to him. Thanks Again.

Dude! Don't leave us hangin'! Respectin' you too, Jax, for sharing his story: and yours! I sorta wish I could sit in the driver's seat of every one of my old cars--you couldn't keep the memories from rolling in! Uh-MAZING video!! Your buyer..DevoCoat McShoulderblades….couldn’t take my eyes off of him. Question my friend… Here in Oregon…there is no penicillin to be found. Farmers who can’t necessarily afford Vet visits…well…they do their own inoculations. From what I’m hearing we are looking at a National penicillin shortage with none to be delivered until late November? Talking with some peeps…they simply cannot find essential medications for their stock. Any issues for you and yours? Going to be a tough year if pets, livestock and people cannot obtain essential Meds. Ok…on the bright side…kids look great! Wife looks great. Grandpa looks stellar…saw some blue sky… Me? Thanks for asking…. I’m all over Amazon trying to find that shoulderbladed black jacket…pronto-like. Have a breakdancing gig on Thursday…need it…it’ll help me nab a lady or two. Make that one little lady. One is enough. Additionally…if I ever catch you wearing a jacket like that….I’m driving out there to slap ya. You all take care. With love….From Oregon. ✌️

How did I not get a notification? .. Google is messing with me! But yes, we can get very attached to machinery, Jax - Not all of them are so special, but some just work their way in there. I know I've told you about the Kenworth that my husband and I restored - I cried when we sold her. And I'm very attached to my Moto Guzzi V7 Classic too.. I'LL NEVER ever sell her! And I've had two identical BMW R65's that are a perfect example of attachment.. I bought them both brand new off the showroom floor on the same day in 1985 - You should have seen the look on the face of the salesman when I said I couldn't make up my mind between the blue or the black - so I'd take them both..At first he thought I was joking. I rode the black one every day - it was my favourite form of transport for years - but I kept the blue one only for riding on Sundays (quite literally) - and for the occasional m/c shows - she always won 'Best European'. It broke my heart to sell it, but that was the whole point of buying two: to keep her in showroom condition for 30 years and sell her as a genuine vintage motorcycle with low kms - and I got 4 times what I'd paid for her brand new. But I can't say it didn't hurt..She was such a pretty machine. The policeman who owns her now loves her every bit as much as I did. I still have the black one, and it's a foregone conclusion that I'll never part with it .. I've been all over Australia solo on that little bike and if she's ever missed a beat, well I know every inch of her and there's nothing I can't do myself...Maybe they can bury me with it, LOL! 🏍️⚰️ Some machines are just extra special : ) How's that album coming along? Lots of love your way XX 🇦🇺♥️🇺🇲

32:51, it sure sounds like a big ol fart 💨💨🤣😂 The video randomly played in background mode and I wasn't watching so I guess I was listening more than normal. I nearly died 😆

Thanks, this is a great video and I really loved the story all about changing the bed on the trucks and then the pup trailer hookup and then about hauling the hay and the corn on a back haul home . Great story !!! And then the old truck fired right up and the story of new life begins for the old truck . You all did great getting the beds loaded up . I first met you on Heavy D, so I found this channel and subscribed, so I will looking for more videos . Take care and stay safe and keep on living life and making us more videos . 🤗👍💖💫
