Will K-Seal save my engine? Let's find out on this episode of daily driving a classic weekly. As a last restort and by popular demand I am trying out K-seal head gasket fixer on my 1975 Jaguar XJ6 which is losing water into cylinder number 2. Will K-Seal save my engine?

What's your experience with K-Seal? Has it worked for you?
@grahamwalker6395
@grahamwalker6395 3 жыл бұрын
I used it 8 years ago on a Jaguar XKR. it had a small head gasket leak between a water gallery and a cylinder. No water contamination in the oil just huge amounts of steam from the exhaust. It was intended a a temporary fix but it's still holding. Worth noting, the engine is a 4L supercharged V8 and I don't drive like Miss Daisy! Eventually, I will repair the engine but the most conservative quote is 12 hours labour! So I'm in no rush.

I tried K-Seal in my B3000 but it didn’t work for me. Later, I flushed the system and tried Blue Devil Pour and Go. I made sure that I went through a couple idling cycles before driving on the road. It took a couple days before it completely sealed up. The truck is running great now.

Lovely to see you guys appreciating the beautiful Jaguars, Austin Healeys and MGs of their day! Great to know our remaining cars are in good hands over there. Could I ask: are you pouring into the expansion chamber over the radiator through choice or by recommendation? Thanks. P.S. I love your pin-sharp video; so much of a welcome relief on KZfaq.

About a month ago I had a coolant leak at the timing cover gasket on a Ford Taurus 3.0 u code engine. My mechanic said $695 to fix it. One bottle of K-seal fixed the leak in minutes and it seems to be working great.
@picklerix6162
@picklerix6162 Жыл бұрын
I have replaced that gasket on my 3.0 engine. There are several KZfaq videos on how to do it correctly. K-Seal won’t work on a timing gasket leak. It requires high heat to seal.

Thank you for another excellent video, love following your trials and tribulations, had a few of my own over the years. An excellent tip I had given me by an engineering firm and by a very good friend of mine who has rebuilt a few MGA twin cam and Austin Healey 3Ltr engines in his time, was to use a product called Stag Wellseal Jointing compound on the mating surfaces of the cylinder head and block, if this of interest for the future.

My 1998 Chrysler Cirrus overheated from water pump leak. Puddle of water underneath the water pump. Let it cool and added K-seal. Like the direction say it was fixed in 2 to 3 minutes and I haven't seen a drop of coolant since! It's a miracle! 4 day now.

These products generally never work. I have tried K-seal and Bark's Leak Stop. The reason being the extra ordinary pressure inside the engine. The pressure will never allow any residue to remain in the place of the leak unless it gets hardened immediately. It's the similar case when there is a leaking pipe. Unless the flow of the fluid is stopped before the application of the adhesive/epoxy the leak never stops.

@@riverbumzz9960 This is really good to hear. However, practically it doesn't look possible that with such a high compression inside the engine, it can let anything stay in the affected area.

I really respect a guy for having a picture of the kids as his wallpaper/background. (No word on the baby yet?) Really hoping this works. I've had a few tired but not dead yet engines that could have used this. Is it a straight 6 or V12? The oil pressure in my engine is a little on the low side but it is acceptable when warm and at highway speed. Should be around 40 psi at 3,000 RPM hot I believe. Cold it can be much more than that.
