This is how political interviews should be. William Clouston was allowed time to explain his views. The interviewer listened and asked relevant questions. All in a friendly and respectful atmosphere.

Likewise! Rod Liddle said, despite the difference in economic policy, that he would vote Reform if the SDP weren’t standing as they are the only other party talking sense on immigration.

@@dertery8724 I'm in the same boat. In the end I think Reform will boil down to a Thatcherite economic program with a union flag stuck on it. But it will still be a big finger to the establishment.

Only just seen the SDP. I think with more awareness it could get a lot of support especially in the North. We need a socially conservative party with left leaning economic policy in the mainstream.

@@jumblestiltskin1365 I probably agree and many in the party would as well. But as long as you keep it under wraps for the most part it should be fine. Why not just give it a try? The constituency I live in apparently has an SDP candidate but all I can find is his name and that's about it. There's not even any photos of him online. I didn't receive any pamphlets from the SDP before the election and it's a shame because they're the best option by a long shot. But I'm thinking about getting in contact with him by email. Give it a try! I think the more we have across the country the better! 😉

Very nice to see the SDP getting some media coverage. I'm strongly considering becoming a member. Their policies represent a lot of voters, but most won't know who they are, due to a low profile. But, hopefully that's set to grow soon

I really like William Clouston, he seems the most genuine of the party leaders but also has a pleasant non-shouty manner about him.

@TheMOV13 this is what I like about him, he is thoughtful and serious. Sadly I think there are a few too many children entertainers in the politics business.

Another excellent interview Mr. Clouston, it's my hope that the SDP can really raise it's profile over the next five to ten years. I think by the end of that time, and after ten years of Labour, people will be absolutely clamouring for sanity and stability. We can give that to them.

Always impressed by Clouston, always comforted by his having Lee Kwan Yew as a role model; still disappointed he's not discussed 'demographic & cultural security for the UKs constituent Nations in their homeland', but there's still time for that growth.

There are some very refreshing ideas here. I'm a bit sceptical about massive government intervention in the economy because we tried nationalising our industries after the war and the results were dreadful. In fact almost every example of state intervention (schools, NHS, crime, immigration etc etc) has been a disaster. How would the SDP improve government performance?

I believe that in their manifesto they say that higher standards will be implemented for civil servants and that if they're not up to scratch then they'll be sacked. I'm pretty sure there's more in there but off the top of my head I can't recall all of it.

Great interview. William clearly explains the key SDP policy planks - unlike Starmer who employs waffle to answer direct questions and deliberately provides very little detail. So who do we think would make the better PM?

I met him at the NCF conference in Birmingham 2 years ago now. Spoke to him at length. He is an impressive chap. Giant in stature and such a gentleness and thoughtful seriousness. He is the polar opposite of the children's entertainers we have at the moment in the business. Sadly we have become very americanised (in a great many ways) and the children's entertainers are winning the day. Unless of course you happen to Labour and you actually are the child. A great many things must change in this country and it would appear a period of awfulness and harsh reality will be the only thing to snap the cord.

@gunternetzer9621 oh there'll be something. Watch for a few things in the next few years. 1. Far more "climate" 2. The Internet going down, weeks at a time, back up and down again. 3. CBDC. 4. Global economy going insane. After all of this, the people who caused it all, will offer to rescue us. All they want is our stuff. They don't want you pay back your mortgage with "money" it'll all be handled by the new CBDC system and their imported ideas on social credit. People who are in hock for hundreds of thousands of pounds will "happily" give up their houses to not owe anything. Rentier Capitalism has dawned, otherwise known as Stakeholder Capitalism, previously known as Feudalism.

I would vote SDP in a heartbeat, but unfortunately there's no candidate. Their policies reflect my own beliefs exactly. So Reform it is.
