True sentiments, they are both American treasures whose voices are more important than ever in our tumultuous times regardless of their age. These men have a conscience, and have always spoke to our consciences during troubled times. As we continue to face Covid, mass shootings, Putin's assault on poor Ukraine, we need our great poets & rock stars to come forward like they did in the 1960's. We need their message songs to educate & inspire us, to raise our consciousness and call us to action. Crosby, Stills & Nash, Neil Young, and Bono of U2 fit this category well too. I love Dylan and Nelson, and their moving version of this great song Poncho & Lefty. They may be old now, but they're not going anywhere just yet, they are national treasures! I hope they stay around long enough to teach & inspire the next great batch of songwriters and musicians to follow in their footsteps and carry on the tradition. Thank God for these two legends!

Both great songwriters. One has limitations as a singer though. Listen to Dylan's version of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah. He uses a lot of less commonly used verses that are very effective. "There's a ray of light in every word. It doesn't matter what you heard , the broken or the holy Hallelujah." He's a poet, and was able to pick out a lot of the most poetic verses.

Townes did not have an easy life. Bi-polar, he suffered insulin shock therapy in a misguided attempt to treat him. It destroyed his short term memory. He was severely alcoholic and when in the depressive phase of his bi-polar illness he took heroin, to which he inevitably became addicted. For most of the 1970s he lived in a shack outside Houston Texas, with no running water or electricity. It is hardly surprising he died young. Some say he was the greatest singer songwriter ever, and I agree.

I have been listening and admiring your songwriting and your performances for most of my sixty four years. “Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain” was among one of the first songs that I admired and was inspired much by….at around the age of seventeen I was learning to accompany my own vocals and that great song was one of the first I was inspired to learn. I would many years later accompany my daughter as she was learning to sing, and “Crazy” was among the favorites chosen. I had the good fortune to see Mr. Bob Dylan live many years ago back in the mid seventies. Unfortunately I have yet to be that fortunate regarding any in person live performances of yours; I’m still holding out hope though so please don’t ever retire…your music just keeps getting better! Still, people came to see Dylan -- that's why the people cheered when he started to sing -- that didn't happen for Willie.

No disrespect for Willie, however I find myself focusing on Dylan, even when Willie is what the camera is focusing on 😊

No the fuck he didn't, god damn. It's like he's making fun of it. Listen to Willie's beautiful phrasings and melody.Zimmerman is nasally helium fuckery, that sorry bastard. Willie even sang shitty behind him to cover Dylan cause hes a fucking great person.

@@davidgibbons2996 So much hurt in your butthole... 😂 You're a sad fuck. You can't even give reasons as to why you think it's good other than, "That's the way Bob Dylan sings." Even if you want to talk shit, you have to actually know the subject of the shit you're trying to talk. Go ahead and "reply" if you want. I don't usually give any attention to people that can't spell or use proper punctuation. Learn the difference between "your" and "you're", and the plural forms of simple words like Mom (come on, that was probably your very first fucking word 😂😂😂), and I MIGHT consider giving you a break and pretend I give a fuck, so you can enjoy all 29 brain cells you're pushing past their shelf lives working in some kind of asynchronous unison.

@@nickr6937 I could give a fuck less about Wisconsin, honestly. I'm not an idiot that dislikes or hates entire groupings of peoples for an individual's actions. Things aren't as cut and paste as David Gibbons wishes them to be. The mother fucker's still in kindergarten, because construction paper is cheap. 😂
