You easily can make 75k plus if you can market and upsell inflated and useless services like this kid. Just make sure you’re in an affluent region with an available market. This is a VERY value added dependent service, you MUST be able to communicate well and be a good salesman. If you can do that, you’ll have it made. No need for any real “detailing” skill. However, HIGH quality paint correction without F-ing up the paint takes a little skill which can be learned very quickly.

@@thatkckidd.6563 probably not the answer you were looking for, but I don’t detail at all anymore other than my own vehicles. I was detailing Saturday and Sunday (all day) and working my full time job Monday-Friday which is an extremely physically strenuous job. Long story short I got burnt out but that doesn’t mean your experience will be the same as mine. Make plenty of time for yourself and don’t overwork yourself

Everyone commenting "this is not a ceramic coating" what sealant do you know of that lasts up to 18 months? Thought so. This is a branch for detailers to get into.. For the customers that don't want to pay over a grand, starting, for a 3+ year coating. And anyone commenting that for $600 you'd apply a traditional glass bottle ceramic coating, well I'm sure your work speaks for itself or you truly aren't charging enough. Luke, thank you for making more and more content for detailers that want to be profitable and make a living. You help us tremendously. Would never have thought of this. So much detailing industry stigma and BS.. don't let the haters get to you

Great Video Luke! In response to your iron remover idea, i have a different point of view. If you use the iron remover before, you make it easier for the clay bar to pike up contaminants as well as the chemical loosening the particles. I just think that since clay bars aren't the cheapest things in the world, putting less stuff in the clay will make it last longer. We all have opinions and if it works for you then keep doing it as you have been super successful. Once again, great video!

I 100% agree it makes sense to capture the market segment you are targeting with this. It provides grest value and results to the customer with a $600 budget. I don't like calling it a ceramic coating, it dilutes the coating industry. A ceramic spray sealant or ceramic based sealant is better terminology in my opinion. Keep in mind, for long term protection, you are putting your own reputation behind the products you install.

@alecwoodard7665
@alecwoodard7665 4 жыл бұрын
his argument is non-existent. "I haven't seen empirical evidence, side-by-side, etc" You use the easiest means to remove debris FIRST before going to harsher abrasives, simple order of operations: Rinse, Wash, Chemical Decon, Clay, Polish (test spot, if the results are good, continue, if not... compound then polish). Logic works.

And this should have been about developing relationship, getting the car back for maintenance work, etc. Instead the focus seems to be on "I just got away with 600 bucks because the lady doesn't really understand what I'm doing". If that's the case and considering she asked for shine, he could have used coconut oil on tires and she wouldn't know the difference.

Great. There are always questions you should ask each customer in regards to situations just like this. Ask how they feel about how their paint and car looks right now, it will easily let you know what potential services you can offer. Not everyone needs a lengthy correction and crazy coating, especially if they’re doing tunnel washes all the time. You need to find out how they wash their vehicle and how it’s driven. A weekend driven enthusiast vehicle would most likely want the works, whereas a daily driven tunnel washed vehicle would benefit from a quick polish and simple coating as anything else you’re just throwing money away.

12:20 i dont know anything about detailing but doing a clay bar first and then the iron remover makes sense to me. What if all the non-iron particles are physically preventing iron from coming up? Clay bar gets as much stuff out as physically possible. And then once all that stuff is out of the way - its time for chemical. Makes perfect sense to me, unless the iron stuff doesnt wipe off or requires claybar after anyways

His fast speaking tricks his customers into agreeing with his nonsense. supposed to charge a reasonable price for services provided, not accept whatever the customer is willing to pay you for half a job.. that is, unless hes deliberately coming up with excuses to why hes charging outlandish prices and could care less about anyone but himself. Most You Tube detailers are like most mechanic shops.. charging the elderly 500$ for an oil change because they are clueless and desperate for help. Theyre like "so, they had the money". Smh. Then these guys have the balls to say " you can't look at it in that mindset, there's a price associated for all variables, or "ill take what people are willing to spend. ...blah blah. Lol hes the one who said he's cutting corners. ..because hes not getting paid 1000 dollars. what a joke a babbling con artist Keep ripping people off..karma will catch up to you. He probably filled that bottle with quick detailer and calls it ceramic.

@@stephenlouden480If he can position perceived value for his services then he will make money, make customers happy and distance himself from weekend detailers. Take a business class-supply/value for services rendered equals demand. He isnt clearing $600. The towels, the product his time to drive to the car. It's all cyclical. I'm sure he does a TON of $2/300 jobs. Its actually people like you who drive down market value for experience and technique. That being said I wish he would shut the Fu@$ up. Man he spits faster than Eminem.

Mr. Wilson sir, thank you so much for your experience and attention to detail, as well as your business sense. I appreciate very much your candid speech concerning value added applications and time spent application. Thanks again Luke. Jeff Finder.

“Value added” is simply a marketing/sales term, to justify upselling services and “tricking” a customer into believing they got more than what they paid for, which 9/10 times is not the case.

I'm confused.......did you just use a iron remover AFTER claying? 🤔
@alecwoodard7665
@alecwoodard7665 4 жыл бұрын
he went on a spiel about "no empirical evidence... yadda yadda..." bottom line: Chemical Decon makes claying easier, and results in less marring, meaning less polishing is needed after. But he's also hawking crappy snake oil like "The Last Coat" so.... the only thing that would be worse, is if he wear pimping Chemical Guys

Dude the cat is out of the bag turtle wax hybrid solutions 3 in 1 for $13 per bottle...Two beers and 10 feet guaranteed you can’t tell the difference. Just applied to my $85,000 Audi S5 and you would think in auto spa did ceramic for $1500. In actuality it took me around 30 minutes for dirt cheap

Mack Monro Yup piece of cake. I exert more energy walking to my mailbox and back then applying an entire coat of these new age DIY ceramic coats. The perfect solution for the weekend garage warriors. Which 99.7% of people on here are. Maybe if I had a Bugatti, or a Lamborghini to detail I would invest in one of these over the top dealer applied professional grade ceramic coats. Until then I’ll stick with my $13 a bottle stuff.

Cedric Jackson I used it a lot for my customers and it is a great coating. I have used the first version and second now the third tracer coating. I will say you still have to wash decontaminate iron removal,clay and polish.

I started off with ceramic coatings, watched 3 videos on it and easy as pie.. not sure why people make it sound complicated.. and damn 1k for a ceramic coat? I pay $80 for my product and only charge $300 for a full paint correction, with the coatings.

Well washing the car and decontaminating it,then doing a 2 stage paint correction is like 10 hours minimum.and thats if youre fast ..then you have to apply the ceramic coating..so let's just say 12 hours of work.so you're basically charging 25 dollars an hour..you could def get more then that if I were you

I've been following Luke for 2 years. Extremely disappointed how he's been communicating his views in the last few videos. It should about value and customer satisfaction much more than price and profit. The former ensures the latter. And calling a Santa Fe an entry level car shows he's lost it. Still hope he will get the point, eventually.

I agree youre paying for the service and overall product, however he shouldnt have cheaped out with half a bottle of inexpensive spray "ceramic coating" He shouldve just used a real ceramic, I doubt it took the full 6 hours if he just did a one step polish.
