The Winchester SXP is a clone of the older Winchester 1300, aka, the Speed Pump. The SXP carries on the ergonomics of the Winchester pump shotguns that have been going on for over 100 years.
I forgot to mention that this gun is made in Turkey.

it’s also hard to beat the ergo’s and POA/POI of a Remington.

Grew up with Dad’s 1200 with the safety in the correct place. Do prefer the 870 trigger tho. TGS outdoors has old video on weighting stock, it’s common in target shooting. Bought a Yildiz 20ga. Compact and it shoots top barrel 7” low right. Beautiful tiger stripe wood BUT it’s hopefully going to be exchanged for more accurate version🤞🏻🤞🏻

it’s a shame the barrels aren’t regulated better on these Turkish guns, I feel I may have gotten lucky on the ATI turkey fowl I have

@@RegularGuysOutdoors Yes. Sent it back once, on my dime, shoots exactly the same. They said send it back again along with targets from 15yards and we’ll replace it if not fixable. I do also have a TR Imports silver eagle 20ga. O/U that’s dead on top & bottom, I’ll be using that this year.

In all companies they make mistakes, with the sxp being a Turkish made gun, it will have its issues. I have 20 and 12ga SXP. Ive had no issues, the main thing is getting better chokes. I do wish they had a little better trigger out of the box and better QC. With that said, my SXPs and my SX4s all shoot better than any of my Brownings or Benelli shotguns. And for the dollar, its worth it. I love the ergonomics of my Benelli guns but they tend to shoot a little high and left, by Brownings all shoot a 100/0 pattern where all my Winchesters are 60/40 or 55/45 POA/POI patterns.

I know of another Benelli that is high and left. I have a Japanese Browning Auto 5 that does the 100/0 thing. Crazy unacceptable for a gun that price, makes it a useless gun

Cabela's has the SXP 20 guage hybrid on sale next week for $199. Think I will go pick one up.

Good video, I thinknthe recent sxps are good vs the first ones. I grabbed one of the first ones and it had a horrible trigger. Felt like something was broken, Had the sxp 20ga turkey last season and really liked it, so much I just got a 12ga for nxt season.

Winchester certainly has a pile of interesting versions of the SXP.

That quirk about the trigger needing to be pulled up is interesting. I've noticed Turkish-designed firearms often function like that. You've got to pinch your trigger finger and thumb together rather than simply pulling straight back. It's fine once you're used to it, but you do have to relearn a proper trigger pull. Alternatively, of course, don't buy Turkish shotguns. That's ideal. Can't argue with the price though, and it seems the SXPs are made fairly well.

@@RegularGuysOutdoors From Bass Pro/Cabelas? $200 with the rebate. Still, I think I'll end up taking a gamble on an 870 Fieldmaster from the new ownership at Remington. Looks (and feels) promising.

Even though the safety on a Remington is in my least favorite spot, the ergonomics, pointability, and POA/POI have been spot-on in every one I have used. From the Model 11, 11-48, Sportsman 58, an 1100 and a couple of 870's, they are very user friendly...always a great choice.@@randytrashcan

The SXP isn't a Turkish designed shotgun though, it's basically an updated model 1300 which was originally based on Browning's design.

@@wizardofahhhs759 Oh I know it. There’s a difference between Turkish built and Turkish designed-and ‘designed’ might be a strong word. I actually ended up buying a Stoeger M3020. After handling four separate 20ga 870s, none of them looked or felt the part. The Stoegers seemed miles ahead in terms of fit and finish. No sharp burs in the loading port unlike the 870s. Talk about an embarrassment for American made.

I just picked up, I believe, an identical SXP, 20ga, same camo pattern, same barrel length. Oddly, I noticed mine has a different shaped trigger guard, mine is more squared somewhat resembling the Benelli supernova. Does your pump stick at the rear? Mine slightly sticks at the end of travel but not terrible, im hoping it smooths out when i shoot it.

Mine is pretty smooth. I di find that the Turkish made guns vary in their qa/qc. Some can be smooth and some can be machined a little rough, like maybe the tooling wasnt changed out often enough.

It's front heavy due to the longer barrel.

Any reason for the animosity? It is a very ergonomic placement...but probably also contributes to the sort of weird trigger design. Behind the trigger guard isn't user friendly, but it is easy to design a simple trigger block back there.

Same, I hate stretching finger in front trigger. But saying that I have two 1300's and that's the only negative I have about em.
