5:18 - Just a heads up...be prepared to buy new bolts for these two. Chevy makes special bolts that won't fit through the holes of aftermarket assemblies (a middle finger for DIYers). Also, make note of the position of the small arm that bolts onto the motor shaft (this is known as "setting the transmission"). Its important to have the proper "resting" position as a starting point. I just did this and it took about 2 hours (going VERY slow and making sure not to break plastic parts...and going to hardware store for 2 bolts). Cheers! Great Video! Saved me about $300 if I had this done in a shop!

Mate I just loosely cabletied linkage arms together so they could still move but kept pressure on the ball linkage as to prevent it popping off....presto 2 yrs later still working fine and cost a few cents haha

That is pretty cool. Post it on you tube. Thanks.

How do you get that 12mm motor bolt off? Mine won’t budge and it moves with me when trying to unscrew it.
@averagemaintenance3875 Жыл бұрын
Watch part of video around 4:40 where I did it and said you need hold linkage and unscrew it. I understand what is the problem and suggest to have someone to help you holding it. Spray some WD40 on it and wait 15 minutes. Also, try air tool if you have it. Good luck.

My wipers now now go down first and then come back up and stay in the middle. What did I do wrong?

I replaced my linkage because it was broken. After doing that my wipers were resetting half way up the windshield. So I reset the linkage to proper home. It was fine for 3 days or so, and the wipers are doing the same thing. Is it the motor? Thanks...
@averagemaintenance38758 ай бұрын
It could be a motor, but I would check that all you did is still in the correct state, meaning that nothing got loose or broken when you replaced the linkage. Good luck.

@@averagemaintenance3875 No I reset it to home like 3 times now...

@@averagemaintenance3875 Had to pull the middle nut off then remove the middle of the linkage from the motor. Run the motor for 30 seconds, and turn it off to get true home. Then I positioned it back on the right way. and put the arms back on perfectly. After 3 days the arms start working their way back up the windshield when they stop. Now they are half way up when they stop...

@draynged7869 Than it could be motor next thing you need to replace. I could not tell you for sure. Try other videos to see did anyone else had a similar problem.

Good feeling, isn't it? Things seem a lot harder till you start it, and with a little patient and research, all becomes easier. Thank you for watching.

My motor was like stuck on that bolt. Tried everything. So I had to buy a new motor too. The car is 100k miles

I always use penetrating oil or WD40 before actually doing the job. Sometimes, it is needed to leave it soaked overnight. But I also understand that sometimes it is just not possible to take it off. As long as it worked on the end.
