Daboll is the boss at the end of the day. He went ahead and fired McGaughey and Johnson even if he didn’t want to. The goal is to make changes to improve. Daboll now needs to find someone better at DC.

@Chalk89 both offensive line and outside linebackers were not developing. There's a #5 Overall pick in the olb group too and he isn't nearly as developed as he should be. Kayvon had 11.5 sacks but that was against bad tackles. He is horrible playing the run and so is the rest of our "pass rushers/run defenders. Wilkins deserved to go just like Johnson

Imagine being the head coach, in the middle of the season, and you’re losing, in large part because some of your best players are injured. And then you turn on the TV and see Glazer telling the country that you have a coaching feud. If I’m the head coach, I’m gonna clean that up at the end of the season. I like Wink but if his “side” planted that story, then so long, dude.

Exactly. If Wink brings in 'his guy' who turns out to be a leaker or somehow untrustworthy, then Wink needs to go for bringing in a guy like that. You attach yourself at the hip with your tag-alongs. Daboll knew where this was headed, and it had to be done. Resigning, you don't get paid.

Wink’s last year with Ravens in ‘21 we had prob highest blitz rates and subpar defense and it’s because Wink wants to blitz even when it’s predictable and even when the ravens didn’t have the personnel (we had injuries at corner that year) to cover and gave up big plays. Wink wouldn’t change. If this sounds familiar, it’s Wink.

It sounds like to me with the information we have currently Wink is the problem here. The only reason Daboll wouldn’t announce the firings of Winks guys at the press conference is because he had enough respect for Wink to not let him hear it through the media. Dabs did the right thing imo and sat him down man to man. It’s kind of absurd to hear any “professional” cursed out their boss in response to a decision he clearly made for the team. I think it would be great if we went out and brought Antonio Pierce home.

Wink Martindale had the same issues with Baltimore which is why he left them in the first place. You can't have a DC that doesnt think he has to answer to the head coach. I say good riddance. It's not like the Giants were the '85 Bears this yrear.

Why?? I entered the season w/ high expectations based on the hype - and the misplaced “trust” in DABOLL and Shoen that u guys still seem to have. My question is - WHY? ….as for the high expectations - the season was literally OVER in less than 15 minutes!!! SERIOUSLY! W/in 15 minutes of that Cowboy game - it was clear that this Offensive Line was not just PUTRID, but historically PUTRID! Literally the worst O- line in - not just Giants history - but in NFL history…. How could DABOLL & Schoen not be aware of that? How??

I don't know the details but the defense scored a lot of points.. they keep us in game and also won some games for us. I knew he was too good and he would end up leaving. The N.Y Giants are best at shooting them selves in the foot.

obviously im not an expert but i gotta disagree. i think he had his moments as a defensive playcaller but it was an uber-aggressive scheme that relied a lot on getting sacks and pressures. not only that but his “right-hand man” in kevin wilkins was the outside lb/edge rusher coach, which was easily the weakest spot on the defense this season. sure, the defense generated a bunch of turnovers and kt got a lot of sacks this year, but the defense really wasn’t *that* good this year, especially when you take into account the amount of talent in that unit. it kinda sucks to see a (at least formerly) well-respected coordinator walk like this, but we were due for a change

Agree with Boomer. Both Daboll and Wink are alpha head coaches. Even last year when they were winning, watching both of them on sidelines it seems Daboll seemed insecured due to winks success in some key plays due to which NYG ended up winning. And this year wink at least had NYG defense play well after first 4 games and players were more inclined to like wink. Daboll needed full control and did not want to lose respect as a head coach and insecurity led to all these firings of assistant coach which eventually led to wink resignation and angered him. Daboll smartly fired offensive assistant coach he brought with him along with winks assistant coach, to act that he was firing them on merit. And later in news conference stated he expected wink to be back but he really did not want that. This was all set up by Daboll to push wink out. Daboll is a politician and wink is a creative playmaking coach with big ego with angry head. Daboll and Wink both are at fault and Joe seems to support Daboll obviously. They both are in this together. Mara is not a leader, he cannot create a cohesive environment. If next year NYG struggles then NY media and fans are going to make Dabolls life hell. NYG top to bottom is a mess. No sane free agent would like to come and play for NYG in such poisonous environment. Last few years there was Dave Gettlemen and Joe judge shenningans and now Daboll and Joe on the same path. Good god not sure when NYG will get a break and fans wil able to enjoy good old NYG hard nose efficient winning football game.

Daboll’s ego got in the way here.. I don’t care about the details.. the facts are this- the Giants defense was the 1 (of very few) bright spots this year. Wink’s schemes and coaching was pivotal. Not saying he is irreplaceable, but don’t be shocked if this defense takes a step back next year.

I suspect Daboll and Schoen will both be gone after next year IF the giants Do NOT fix the offensive line. If they can do that it will solve many problems on offense: 1. Is DJ our guy 2. Get a running game going with pretty much any RB 3. Strong run game opens up opportunities for the receivers who are not world beaters 4. Wear down opposing defense with run game to create better opportunities in 4 th quarter 5. Keep the opponents offense off the field Schoen picked Neal with #7 And now that seems like wasted lottery pick Another wasted pick for Giants: Kadarius Ingram Eli Apple Deandre Baker Meanwhile missing on great players in those drafts That wasn’t Schoen fault but those drafts could have helped build a great offensive line I’ve the years Last night I saw Tyler Linderbaum for the ravens playing well. He went late in first round two years ago But instead Schoen took Evan Neal who looked lost in year 2

Brian Daboll is a joke. He may very well be a good coach but its only 1 winning season...barely. His personality mimics Belicheks persona, so it stinks, his faith in Daniel Jones is unjustified from 1 season, and they played a 3rd string QB whom everyone fell in love with the story over actual ability, including himself. Unlike the 3 HC buffoons before Daboll, he stands the best chance to win as HC, however, the attitude and constant mess surrounding New York, YET AGAIN, makes him no different than the losers prior.
