As long as they are reeling in the fish they might fish right on top of the plopper and thumper. If your not catching fish, well good luck explaining that noise. Lol.

@melissaannboone3639 normal people lie to their parents about questionable decisions in high school or something. Fishing Freaks lie to their dads about how to modify a lure to get better hookup rates with striped bass. I’m with James on this one. A completely rational and understandable quibble says me, Mrs. Boone. 😂

I get the same thing from my guys (buddies) when we are fishing...I tell them all the time "I'm going to suicide my pole in a rod holder" while I send a pic or text. Of course it gets bit right away and I catch another Hybrid. They try it and nothing happens 😂 So, even if you tell them, it might not help! I even told them, the Boone Boys guys says "I think they are just sucking on it" and you have to be nearly psychic to know when they are biting like that! They laugh at me right up until I slide the net under another Hybrid!🤣

Glad you got out with the boys! Sounds like one of them is getting over the same bug that has most of Edmond hocking up a lung, myself included. Slabbing bite was white hot on Sooner yesterday, same water temp around 56 degrees and they were schooling in 30-55 feet. The white bass & white perch are thick up as well. Been lucky the last few times we’ve been out with fairly gentle winds. I got those high low rigs I showed you ready with 2.5 oz of lead for going deep in wind.

@@BooneBoys I never paid much attention on whether it was the high vs low hook. I was focused more on the colors that were working vs not. For me, it's just a numbers game. I'm fishing double the number of plastics per rod and covering a bigger spread in the water. I can say I've had some really nice doubles on a single rod and two hybrids at once is quite a fight. Get into a school with a feeding frenzy and they'll hit both at once. It's definitely worth a try, especially as the deadstick bite picks up even more. I'm still in slabbing mode while I can, but in another couple weeks when the water gets below 50 degrees I'll be full bore deadstick.

We were on Foss lake yesterday too. We did really good on the Hybrids deadsticking. Watermelon red flake was working good. Bubble gum color worked good too. Your last video convinced me to get out early this year. Thanks for the tips.

We were looking too deep at first but they sure were nice ones biting. I’m surprised how healthy they are with how little baitfish I’m seeing.

@@BooneBoys We started deep then moved to more shallow area. Caught a bunch at 25’ right by a drop off and a few at 35’.

I believe in the electric chicken. The one I use is Mr crappie electric chicken on a 3 gram jig head on a BFS combo.

Do you ever catch large mouth bass or smallmouth bass out deep like that ?

@dustinwright4601 it’s really rare to catch largemouth or smallmouth. Usually once a trip catch a catfish, a few times a deadstick season catch a walleye and drum.

In the winter Deadsticking I would choose a thumper, but overall year around a splasher.

So if there’s no shad in the lake what does a big population of hybrids eat in a lake like foss, is that the reason there so tight to the bottom because there not eating shad or bait ?

@dustinwright4601 they eat Drum, Shad, Carp, Bluegill, Crappie. But a lot of drum at Foss. In the livewell they coughed up small Shad, drum, and bluegill. Most every other lake around here it will be 100% Shad. I can’t believe they look as healthy as they do, but I think there are a lot fewer fish and it’s harder to find schools. That’s why in the summer I think it’s really difficult there because there aren’t the fish population.
