WCBS 2′s Kathryn Brown reports on a car in New York City's East Village that's turning the heads of otherwise jaded New Yorkers: an Audi A3 encased in six inches of ice.

ah 2011, I remember very well how Las Vegas also got extremely cold, that it was still a bit chilly in May. Never again has it been so cold since that year.

Just open the drivers door and then turn on the engine. There must have been something preventing that from happening because that is the obvious solution. And turn the wheels a little to break the ice also.

or get in it, start the car, crank the heater to high and leave it for an hour. the ice would probably be mostly gone on the thin part, and really easy to break on the thick part

Good idea but how are you gonna open the door ? The driver side door is frozen on the top part . I leave my car dry at night in freezing weather and the door freezes shut . Imagine having to open this ..

I've never actually heard of a diesel Lancer in the US....maybe we're missing part of the story...maybe car wasn't starting up or something...

I live in the greater Los Angeles area, we are in the mids 70s all this week, and we have a 80s last week, I'm grateful while about 80% of the US is cover in snow, we are under the sun shine, no wonder why L.A. is so expensive

That is the reason I moved south. I feel sorry for the guy specially if he had to go to work. What and excuse that would be: "Boss I cannot come in to work because my car is frozen like a popsicle."

Worse than the snow. Imagine someone were clever enough to have hot water run to their garden hose and spray warm water to their vehicle to remove all that ice.

Lilsept Howell Yeah iwas thinking a high pressure washer connected to warm tap water. Why those Orangutangs seem to be using a freakin Hammer & Pike...?? i suppose their paint work is Scratch Proof..?? NOT!!!

3DFX because if you use hot water running on the car it will shatter the glass. Going from a frigid to hot is really a bad idea.

Should got a tarp and a heater with a blower. Would been a lot easier and faster then chipping.

Seems to me that all they had to do was buy a large bag of Deicing salt, pour it all over the car and wait for about an hour. That salt would have broken up the ice just as fast as it breaks up ice in the driveway
