WCBS 2′s Kathryn Brown reports on a car in New York City's East Village that's turning the heads of otherwise jaded New Yorkers: an Audi A3 encased in six inches of ice.

Looks like a job for the rear defroster.

+Rieksfier Yep. Not just removing fog. That's all it's used for here in California.

Cessna5335 so, have you ever had your car being an iceberg in the middle of New York?

"grew itself over the car as if nature where in charge" dude, nature was INDEED in charge of doing that.

Definitely! And was in charge, long before Man ever wanted to admit it!

yes, icebergs are, incidentally, made of ice...

Wow. Looked to be 4-6 inches of ice in some spots.
@cameronbrule79128 жыл бұрын
I'd just get a hair dryer and an extension cord and heat the ice up.
@allensteckling83898 жыл бұрын
+Cameron Brule having actually tried that, it takes forever, even on a small section.

ah 2011, I remember very well how Las Vegas also got extremely cold, that it was still a bit chilly in May. Never again has it been so cold since that year.

Just open the drivers door and then turn on the engine. There must have been something preventing that from happening because that is the obvious solution. And turn the wheels a little to break the ice also.

why does no one use a flamethrower.
@007Kellam7 жыл бұрын
or get in it, start the car, crank the heater to high and leave it for an hour. the ice would probably be mostly gone on the thin part, and really easy to break on the thick part
@1234blackeye7 жыл бұрын
Good idea but how are you gonna open the door ? The driver side door is frozen on the top part . I leave my car dry at night in freezing weather and the door freezes shut . Imagine having to open this ..
@TheReapr7 жыл бұрын
I think his point was to just break enough ice to open a door instead of towing it
@TheReapr7 жыл бұрын
I've never actually heard of a diesel Lancer in the US....maybe we're missing part of the story...maybe car wasn't starting up or something...

That is the reason I moved south. I feel sorry for the guy specially if he had to go to work. What and excuse that would be: "Boss I cannot come in to work because my car is frozen like a popsicle."
@lilsept777 жыл бұрын
Worse than the snow. Imagine someone were clever enough to have hot water run to their garden hose and spray warm water to their vehicle to remove all that ice.
@tredfxman7 жыл бұрын
Lilsept Howell Yeah iwas thinking a high pressure washer connected to warm tap water. Why those Orangutangs seem to be using a freakin Hammer & Pike...?? i suppose their paint work is Scratch Proof..?? NOT!!!
@hhds1137 жыл бұрын
3DFX because if you use hot water running on the car it will shatter the glass. Going from a frigid to hot is really a bad idea.

Seems to me that all they had to do was buy a large bag of Deicing salt, pour it all over the car and wait for about an hour. That salt would have broken up the ice just as fast as it breaks up ice in the driveway
@plastixfy Жыл бұрын
won't that rust the car?
@starguard4122 Жыл бұрын
@@plastixfy It shouldn't as long as it wasn't left too long. Once the ice melted he should immediately take it to a car wash
