Yes!!!! that is truth! Etch it in stone... I still think I was woefully unprepared, but I like the sentiment so I'm going with that from now on.

Always! Do wish I could have stayed, but am eyeing up some inexpensive hot-tents on Amazon currently so maybe if winter co-operates and we get the weather we deserve, I can give it another whirl! Mind you, it's so mild right now Feb 3; I'm seriously considering tapping the maples, so I really don't know what to make of any of it lol.

better to be safe and sleep inside then to risk it, but a fire is always the best time at a camp, our weather in NY has been crazy up and down this past month

It's honestly a head-scratcher. -20 one day, -2 the next... If nothing else though, the fire made the evening worth it. Was watching your last video and cannot believe folks would be taking snowmobiles out on that. Further north than us sleds are going through daily - and the ice is usually a foot and a half by now for them. Weather is so strange.

Hello there! That's amazing and welcome aboard, very happy to have more folks along for the ride! Looks like Mother Nature has changed my plans for next week and we'll be tapping maple trees for syrup season well before we should, which will likely be the next adventure - but in the meantime feel free to check the various videos out from the last year on the channel. If you specifically like camping stuff, I have a playlist dedicated just for that!

Year Jay winter takes on a whole new dimension when you're out in the woods. I love being out in it but like you eluded to things need to go right to enjoy it. Nice video once again!!

Thanks Joe! Was a lovely time even if I didn't get a snooze out there. Getting our maple sap buckets ready at the moment believe it or not. The weather changed again!! 😕

I love doing sap but I don't think we're going to do it this year. We were hoping to set up an outdoor sugar shack but haven't gotten it yet. In the past we would process it in the kitchen which is nice to regulate temperatures but destroys the stove. We may collect sap for the neighbors though. Nature what a wonderful thing!!!

Looking to build a little sugar shack myself around the barrel too, not an immediate project but one I would love to do sooner rather than later. Between the barrel pans, then an old dutch oven on a turkey fryer we always try to keep the inside stove work until the absolute last minute lol, it can be a messy project for sure. Awesome you'd collect for the neighbours tho - that's some small town friendliness right there!

I'd call it a success. Start out with the gear you already have and add things as you figure out what you need. Maybe pre cook that potato though.

Thanks! Lol, was enjoying our chat during the premiere but then it ended and KZfaq turned it off before I could reply. I swear that ice tent was three times the size, but am now well down the Amazon rabbit hole for inexpensive (but not "cheap) hot tents. Nothing more expensive than a cheap tool so trying to keep cost down, but get quality. Anywho, we'll see where we get. Currently have our maple sap buckets sanitizing so unsure if winter's over anyway🙄

I forgot the chat cuts off on those premieres right when they end as well. Definitely hasn't been the best winter for snow but do look forward to the maple syrup videos.
