Wireless Energy Transmission with Force Fields and Lasers

Using lasers and extreme electromagnetic fields I'm able to power up a bunch of stuff without the use of wires!

In this video I demonstrate a bunch of different methods of wireless energy transmission. I start by looking at early experiments of wireless energy transmission like what was done by Michael Faraday in the mid 1800s and then try them out myself. These experiments led to the development of the transformer, which is an incredibly common electrical component used today. It turns out that wireless cell phone chargers are based on this technology that's over 100 years old!
Next I look into higher frequency sources like that generated by a Tesla coil. For these experiments I break out my Tesla coil collection and wirelessly light up neon bulbs, plasma tubes, and fluorescent lights. I also test out an energy harvesting circuit and collect EM energy via a rectenna. These effects are still mainly described by capacitive coupling though, so they don't work over very far distances.
Next I look into microwave devices as a source for generating a collimated beam. It turns out that making a nice beam from microwave oven parts is impossible, but large microwave antennas can still be used to wirelessly power up drones or beam large amounts of power over long distances. In my experiments I use a "broken" microwave oven that still works with the door open to light up some light bulbs.
Still though, the best device yet for wireless energy transmission is the laser. There is nothing that can match the tight beam of a laser, and with tuned photovoltaics, a laser can be used to transmit energy over astronomical distances at relatively high efficiencies. In fact, our best shot at exploring nearby stars in the foreseeable future is with laser powered spacecraft. In the video I use a laser to power electronics via LEDs and solar cells.
Oh yeah, free energy is silly unless it obeys the laws of thermodynamics,

okay I know this is joke, but metal is much more conductive than flesh. I might be wrong, but think this is why the nickel melts and his hand is fine. If his hand was wet, it would probably be much more noticeable for him as water is also very conductive. I haven't really studdied electricity that much so correct me if I'm wrong.
@adamcastle3410
@adamcastle3410 2 жыл бұрын
@@mr.shepherdspie7958 you could use Ohm's Law to calculate the current through his hand. Current is the total voltage divided by the resistance of his skin. since the resistance of skin is pretty high, the current traveling through is negligible. However, since the nickel basically is a wire, and has very little resistance, it melts instantly. This is why signs say danger High Voltage and not high current, because higher voltage is higher current. Just 75-100 mA of current can stop your heart, and the resistance of human skin varies depending on circumstance but id say on average its a kOhm or two. This is enough to survive getting shocked by your wall as long as the current doesn't travel through your body, but touch the live wires on poles and if you're not dead you're lucky.

For me, novelty is exciting; familiarity is not (it is comforting though). Thoughts of sharing the information probably provides him all the excitement you see since the information itself is probably very familiar to him. Well, that or he's faking excitement to make the video less monotonous or to be consistent in the ways he speaks. In any case, it fits him.

I bet this man gets a lot of offers to come work for companies... he is literally what one might call a genius... he is the type of guy who might one day invent something brilliant by simply messing with already existing stuff in different ways while applying his knowledge of physics and mathematics... Give this dude enough money and free access to whatever he needs and he will out-compete DARPA and Lockeed Martin in a week for a fraction of the cost all while having a blast.
