I get it now. She couldve chose to marry Ling Yunche, but because she wanted to get revenge she ended up wanting to take the latter decision. To be the emperor’s concubine instead.

What part of her if similar to Ruyi? They're very different from each other. And actually I found Yanwan very similar to consort Jia in appareance. Before watching the drama, when I watched the clips I used to confused one for the other.

Did you really watch entire clip? "Ruyi" is the name given by Empress Dowager but her birthname is Qingying...Qingying and Ying'er

Does it count as a mistake though? Because I'm not sure the emperor would have heard her even if she had opposed, unless Ruyi was willing to slander the Weiyan right then - but I don't think she had enough evidence to say anything (not sure). So I think she was pretty smart in letting Weiyan answer, especially because she thought Weiyan liked Yunche. Too bad things didn't work like that and everyone suffered in Weiyan's hands later.... >.
