This is what I figured. Thanks for verifying this. Saved me some time.

hello I have a 2007 grand cherokee and one day i started the engine and a loud bang happened inside the engine bay followed by a constant High Rev. (Redline) at 6k when the key is turned over. Can a huge vacuum leak on the intake manifold cause this problem?
@MegaMarclar Жыл бұрын
Anything is possible,.highly unlikely though. More likely that it sucked a valve.

@@MegaMarclar I will double check the space between the intake and header but a sucked valve is going to cost me a arm and a leg to fix!

@@Stuntncl9 The intake gaskets aren't really gaskets they're actually o-rings. They are held in place by little fingers in the casting. I've seen it where they've gotten sucked flat or even partially sucked in but I don't think it's possible that it would have a large enough leak to be hitting maximum RPM I think he might have something else going on especially if you heard a bang sound that's not typically something you'd hear through the intake. I mean unless there's a giant hole in the intake somewhere

Same thing for the dodge dakota big horn 3.7L?
@MegaMarclar2 жыл бұрын
On a Dakota he should be able to just unbolt it and pull it off. The motor mount thing is kind of unique to the Grand Cherokees

@@MegaMarclar thanks for the reply. I woulda been in the shop lowering the whole motor haha

@@donaldace21 it's probably one of the easiest intakes to remove on a Dakota..

How about 2008 jeep commander 3.7

No idea. Very similar in design

Ehhh ya could have just removed the wiper cowling...that is a lot easier
@MegaMarclar Жыл бұрын
Yeah unfortunately it's a permanent part of the unibody, it's not a van it doesn't unbolt.

@@MegaMarclar aaaaand you're right! Pulled that all apart for nothing. I've seen some jeeps do bolt the cowls. Not this freaking one. Dropping the engine or cutting the cowl it is!
@himeedajew Жыл бұрын
Yeah so I unfortunately don't have a lift so where exactly am I supporting the motor with the jack & wood? Thanks!
@MegaMarclar Жыл бұрын
@@himeedajew can use the crank pulley with a block of wood. But honestly I've never done it without a lift so I can't really be of advice there.

Where did you place your two jack stands and board to support the engine? Thanks
