I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO HEAR KID ORY ON A NUMBER OF NIGHTS AT THE HANGOVER CLUB IN 1954........IT WAS MEMORABLE.......WHEN HIS SET ENDED THE STAGE TURNED AROUND AND EARL FATHER HEINZ KEPT US GOING WITH HIS PIANO...WE HAD NO IDEA HOW LUCKY WE WERE..

Beloved Friend fo mine who turned me on to two things: Kid Ory's musik and weed (may he RIP) told me once: "You don't say about a musician 'so & so died', you jus' say 'he plays no more'

I knew Tudi well and played with him a number of times at the meetings of the Southern California Hot Jazz Society back in the swingin' seventies! I was on the last set he played on, in December, 1979, a few weeks before he passed.
