A pilot hole would be a good idea when you're putting screws into the edge of the door.

A flat screwdriver would also work as a makeshift chisel if you have a hammer nearby.

Try using a pair of channel locks to get the holesaw and arbor apart

Yes and two screws are required to hold it in place during cutting a hole on the door.
